On a related note, i was wondering a while back whether pilots fly with the thing in the closed or mid position. With the WH, I put the brake switch in the mid position after the brakes have fully closed because I assume that results in no more DX presses going to the sim. Does that make any sense?

You don't need 8" touch screens. There are 7" generic vga lcds from HK on ebay for 100-150. Although 7" means not all the real-estate inside the MFDs is filled.
