  1. Is it feasible to add PeterP's mod to go along with the darker nights? http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1310260&postcount=66
  2. This is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. mclbVTIYG8E "The PETMAN robot will enable a kind of lifelike testing of protective clothing that the [Pentagon] has long sought and never had,'' said Dr. Robert Playter, vice president of engineering at Boston Dynamics." Umm, okay. That's alright then.
  3. My question-with the MCFD Repeater and the UFC, do you ever really need to look at the thing?
  4. VC roundup: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/battlefield-3-graphics-performance,3063.html
  5. Before Paul the Crew Chief (I think?) gave his input on RL switch settings, you did have to flip it on. Other than that, you just test with the Engine Fire test button after Battery and Inverter on. So what mvsgas said lol.
  6. Start the second engine while the Engine Cycle light is still on (that is before the first engine has stabilized at 60).
  7. I think someone posted to try giving it some throttle to get it to advance past 30.
  8. Hear, hear :).
  9. As far as rail segments go, it's probably the best I've seen. And the walk up to the deck through the cat shot and climb out rates 100 on the immersion scale.
  10. I've only had a few hours, but am really digging it. The interface, set up, and options are as good if not better than I've seen in a sim. Setting up controllers and binding keys is a pleasure. Adjusting graphics settings for FPS optimization can be done on the fly, with immediate feedback (with Fraps) on the paused screen on which the menu is superimposed. Flight model on expert feels good-takes work to hover and land well. I don't think the Vortex ring is modeled (Edit: this and other FM fine tuning coming in a patch). I found a graphics vs. performance (very) sweet spot on my machine (e8400@4.0/hd6970). Check here for optimal set-up: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=126178. Sky, clouds, and weather are as good as I've seen in any sim. Saw a double rainbow near Seattle! Okay, it was only one rainbow, but still. I can tell training and missions are going to be really immersive and fun. Tried the first time challenge (a low level run through the forrest) and had a blast. Collidable trees-yeah buddy! The modder community are going to have a field day with this one. Basically, this is my immediate further: (i) flop down on the couch, fire up PS3 Battlefield 3 till I pass out; (ii) if have some energy, move to the PC for some jump-in-and-fly helio action; (iii) if have a little bit more energy, skip (ii) and go directly to DCS. Overall, I'm glad I bought TOH.

  12. I think it's a bug that will be resolved in the upcoming patch.
  13. A DCS user gave it a good write up on their forums, so I went for it. If I get it up and running today, I'll post first impressions. Edit: http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=2045545&postcount=18
  14. Crosshair on thing and Q to mark, no?
  15. AMD recommends NVidia FXAA. http://www.ngohq.com/news/20747-amd-recommends-using-nvidias-fxaa-in-battlefield-3-a.html Edit: Manuals online http://battlefieldo.com/forum/threads/new-battlefield-3-manual-available-online.1191/
  16. I find the trend is towards a Turkish-style pragmatic/moderate/inclusive political party rule, especially given the results of the Tunisian election. If that is the case, then this a huge vindication of the US/European policy with regards to the Arab 'Spring'. Really far-sighted and courageous imho.
  17. ^That. BF3 for MP all the way. I'm also finding SP on hard shiny. Have to go slow, check corners, and clear. Lot's of tension. Sound is unbelievable. If the past is anything to go buy, I'd venture MW3 will be gorgeous, very set-piece, and waves of endless enemies until you get past a magic point. Not for me.
  18. Anyone in Europe on a PS3?
  19. The first impressions trickling in seem to be good, though still no feedback on final from RL pilots. Man I hope this turns out well. http://forums.bistudio.com/forumdisplay.php?f=109

  21. Happy Birthday man!
  22. Also, our thoughts and prayers are with the people suffering through this :chair:.
