    Licensing

Out of curiosity, does ED pay any licensing or other fees to the manufacturer for their simulation of the A-10? Apparently Bohemia had to slightly change the models and call the fictions names to avoid infringement.
  2. :shocking: That's awesome.

    Amazon Fire

Tablet for $200 + Amazon Prime for $79/annually = Hundreds of thousands of movies, TV shows, books, and songs for free, in addition to the premium content. Just as an example, Arrested Development on iTunes is $29. Amazon Prime Members get it for free; Free two day shipping on all Amazon purchases; Free cloud storage of Amazon content; Android OS. I would be so all over that if I lived in States. Edit: Some reviews as per the website: "The Fire gives me the features I want at a price point that's less than half of the iPad 2. I can check my email, browse the Internet, maybe play a few games, most importantly, I can read magazines in color on a Kindle." - Gizmodo "At $199 the Fire is less than half the price of the Apple iPad, which starts at $499. It is the first tablet from a major company to seriously undercut the iPad in price." - New York Times "Consumers will see the iPad and Kindle Fire side-by-side... and simply ask 'why does the iPad cost at least $300 more?' They will look at the features - the comparable amount of content, the Kindle's million e-books, streaming TV shows - and pick the Fire." - Extreme Tech "The Kindle Fire is the tablet you need at the price you'll be willing to pay." - Technology Review "Amazon’s Kindle Fire is likely to be the first successful tablet not sold by Apple, and there are several good reasons for it: the low price of $199, the convenient, portable size of 7 inches, and a rich catalog of books, movies and music offered through Amazon’s Web-based services." - Ars Technica "The Fire is the real deal and it’s going to disrupt the equilibrium of the existing market for media devices." - Chicago Sun Times "There’s a new mayor in Droidville. But this guy didn’t roll into town with pomp and circumstance. He strolled down Main Street and simply offered more than any other candidate, extolling a plan based on down-to-earth sensibility and affordability. Meet the Kindle Fire." - Seeking Alpha
  6. Thanks for the heads up--I can work this into 2012-2013 fiscal plan :D.
  7. Emirates orders now stand at 90 380s and 90 777s. They should just buy into the effing manufacturers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-15711213
  8. Wow. That puts Microsoft, even with some of the add-ons, to shame. Hope performance will be decent.
  9. cGgK-9IbIJ4 Must have been a hell of an FOD walk after.
  10. Expensive though http://hotseatsim.com/Products/Allsimulators/tabid/299/agentType/ViewType/PropertyTypeID/1/Default.aspx

  12. Looking back, I think it must have been the pain meds :D.
  13. Did you modify files to export or adjust views or some such other thing? If so, you have to hit up servers that don't check. It's to prevent cheating. Join up with a squadron and fly with them.
  14. Still searching, but I haven'r ran across flashing textures. I'll try some of the bases. One thing I did was runs driver cleaner in safe mode before updating. Don't know if that helped. Maybe mess around with HDR and shadow settings?
  15. You're a good dad lol.
  16. Think of it as a huge compass sitting flat on the ground. The arrow is always pointing north irrespective of where the pod is looking. So when you get a call that friendlies are e.g. two thousand meters north of a landmark then you know a) which direction to move your eyes when looking at the TGP image and b) using the right horizontal line of the cross, how far to move them. I may be wrong, but that is how I understand it. Edit: so looking at the screenshot in the first post, 18 meters north of the end of the runway means moving your eyes in the direction of ten o'clock from the end of the runway for a distance equal to the right side of the cross, roughly.
  17. NSFW Edit: Wait, there's more lol:
  18. I'd definitely recommend the covers, as the throttle has open 'grooves?' where dust can get into the innards. I had issues flashing when plugged into a hub, so I connected both directly to the motherboard and used the hub for other peripherals.
  19. If you look at the screenshot in Post 14, the heading on the tape is 220. The arrow is pointing roughly where you'd expect North to be, which is 140 degrees to the right. The arrow is just a quick, rough indicator, kind of like the airplane/horizon symbol on the lower left.
  20. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1084321&postcount=7: for the Throttle. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1293634&postcount=36: for the Stick. Every Warthog owner should do this. And many initially reported a pull to the right that was cured by the above (including me). P.S. If this is a new stick, be sure to flash with the latest firmware: http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=1&fid=3&pid=311&cid=1 P.P.S. I just typed 'Calibrate Warthog' in the Search window, and the above thread was the first result :D.
  21. Weirdness-the RWR seems to be working fine for me with the .9 script. Oh well, as long as it's working.
  22. S-300v. Want.
