  1. I am going to just download it at zero-dark 30, when hardly anyone is on
  2. Haven't tried it yet...it is probably because there is a plethora of people downloading off the server...they just put out the release like 10 mins ago
  3. Upgraded to Win 7 Ok, I upgraded from XP 64 to Win 7 Pro 64, and...a 580 GTX. Black rectangles are gone, and the clouds actually look pretty good for this simulations. I now have all my settings on high and am getting 50+ FPS under all conditions. I didn't really notice any performance hit from clouds vs. no clouds.
  4. Be patient. Better 2-3 or even 3-4 weeks than rushing to upload a Beta 6 that is saturated with bugs. This simulation is epic. If I were you guys, I would just concentrate for now on the simple act of flying the aircraft, using it's various navagational functions, and offensive and defensive systems operations. Read through that thick manual. Sooner or later there will eventually be an optomized final release version.
  5. My smoothest landings on a flight sim have been with dcs a-10c
  6. So since all of the issues were resolved in beta 5 except for the trackir 5 issue, does that mean that beta 5 may be the last beta before final release?
  7. No i'm not, but a few times I have loaded either multiplayer levels or campaign levels, and the screen goes dark, then I see nothing but water textures. I am upgrading to windows 7 64 and either a nvidia 570 or 580 gtx in 3 weeks. we'll see what happens then. also, sometimes i will load a flight and will start out with horrrible fps (1-5), so I will exit, then click on fly again and get my standard 25-45 fps
  8. You know you been playing DCS A-10C when...You have began wearing diapers so you don't have to press pause to use the bathroom, or you simply sit on a bed-pan while playing.
  9. I would, but I figure its time to upgrade. From what I read, Windows 7 is basically a further optomized XP anyways. Also, Microsoft FSX is said to run at a much higher FPS on Win 7, depending on which directx the user chooses too use.
  10. lesson #1 with a newly released throttle and joystick: wait AWHILE, read forums, see if it is worth the $$$.
  11. Nate, don't let your developers get too worked up over this issue, I found a spare hard drive laying around, so I formatted it, and next friday I am going to get Windows 7 Professional 64. I have been hesitant in upgrading to 7 because of my horrible experiences with Vista (I "upgraded" from Vista to XP 64). Spending the time and money in upgrading to Win 7 is worth it to enjoy this wonderful sim!
  12. I might have to make the updgrade lol
  13. Windows XP 64-bit...am I the only one lol?
  14. Nate, here are the files you have requested. I was surfing through the forum and saw there were a handful of people with the simlar problem. I'm not sure if they were running 32 or 64 bit windows, but a few of them reported the problem didn't happen in Beta 3, and now happens in Beta 4. Hopefully that points you guys in the right direction. Thank you very much for your help! Docs.zip
  15. Would installing the 32-bit edition parrallel to 64-bit make any difference?
  16. Ok cool, I will start on that right now. If I didn't point it out earlier, whenever I install a game on my computer, it always installs into my Programs (x86) folder. DCS A-10C installed into the programs folder (without the X86 in parenthesis).
  17. I'm sure they will, it is most likely a simple fix. Maybe not by beta 5, but definately by final release. This game is amazing, and I'm sure the final product will be quite addicting. I believe it or not, have been getting better graphics with even better performance here than LOMAC, ETC...
  18. I've tried all of that..including aa of up to 16. the only thing that has worked so far is reducing textures to medium. I fly alot on microsoft fsx, and use an add-on called Real Weather Extreme. It uses clouds with 2048X2048 resolution with no problems, so I think there is a simple coding issue with clouds, since this is the only area of graphics I have seen any problems with. When I turn off clouds, I can fly with all settings on high with the lowest fps at 35 and an average of 45-60fps flying low and fast. I know we are just on the beta phase, but I hope this is something the developers can fix. I am a big time gamer, and I will tell u first hand, the buyers market incudes a majority of people with wndows xp 64-bit and 8xxx-9xxx series nvidia cards.
  19. Just tried it with SLI disable, no effect, all texture filtering options in Nvidia control panel resulted in no effect also. As a reminder, when I reduce textures to medium, the problem goes away. I don't have this same problem with LOMAC or DCS Blackshark. XP 64 bit allows for use of virtually unlimited memory, and I have 2 1gb video cards running SLI. I believe there are several people on this forum reporting a similar problem, someone mentioned that we all have the 8xxx and 9xxx series nvidia video cards. With clear weather and everything on high except for water, bushes and clutter on max, I get very high frame rates. I would believe the land textures would eat up video memory much before the clouds would.
  20. Using the latest drivers, june 2010 directx 9.0c also. I'm going to do some experiemnting right now, I'm going to disable sli first, then experiment with the texture filering settings. I will update you when I am finished.
  21. Is this an issue that may be fixed in Beta 5? I have been playing some of the newest titles in gaming such as the new call of duty etc...all very graphical intensive games, and not one issue, so I'm sure it is something that can be fixed.
  22. XP 64 bit is by far the best operating system still. You can optimize it for maximum performance with minimal usage of ram.
  23. My guess would be the coding for how dcs a-10 draws clouds. slayer left a post above that might explain something
  24. and there is no folder called x86 in there
  25. My bin folder has an .exe file, a temp folder, and alot of .dll files
