  1. ATC coms are bugged in that mission. Just ignore it. The rest of the radio coms should work and will be required to call in the SEAD strike and choppers. Make sure you have read the intro and written down the frequencies. BiPod.
  2. Yes. Wait for "INS NAV READY" to flash. I've also noticed that if you start rolling it can automatically go to "NAV" and halt the alignment, so as Mugenjin said "Keep waiting, do not taxi."
  3. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=65645&highlight=multiple+targets+LGB&page=2 Just found this. Post 11 suggests you can do it with 2 LGBs with 8-10 secs spacing. This was in a Beta. BiPod.
  4. Thanks Seanner. I am under the impression that the A-10 can only attack one target at a time with LGBs, but I'm not sure, so I will keep my mind open. BiPod.
  5. Now this issue is resolved I will jump in. Seanner seems to be talking about having 4 LGBs in the air simultaneously chasing different targets while cycling the laser POI. Viper seemed to be talking about doing it one at a time, but it was not clear to me. Can someone clarify this point for me? BiPod. EDIT: SimFreak sniped my query. Looks like we both want to know.
  6. WTF!!!......Can anyone spot the MAJOR problem with the first line of the English translation?
  7. All I will say to this is that if you enter 10 meters per second in the M/E then it will appear as 20kts (approx.) in the CDU, which is the correct conversion. You use kts in the CDU. BiPod
  8. Oops. Very sorry to keep you up. The issue was sorted a couple of posts ago. You were right. I'll still take a look at your track. Might be something else I can learn:). BiPod.
  9. Agreed Zenra. Just to be clear, I have no problem with accepting that the LASTE system is there for targeting. That is definitely part of its function. My only quibble was with the suggestion from the linked post that manual data entry was the normal way to use it. The system is automatic and works very well. BiPod.
  10. Soldier "Let me see your identification" Pilot "You don't need to see my identification" Soldier "I don't need to see your identification" Pilot "I'm not the pilot you are looking for" Soldier "You're not the pilot we are looking for" Pilot "I can go about my business" Soldier "You can go about your business" Pilot "Move along" Soldier "Move along...move along"
  11. Yep. Looks like I have to eat a lot of humble pie here. Thanks Eddie and MTDDarkEagle. I had the idea that the default would never change. Perhaps an early Beta issue but much more likely an early poor learning issue that I never unlearned. I stand Humiliated, BiPod.
  12. The default weapon profile is never changed. If you make a change without giving the new profile a name then it has nowhere to save. Track attached clearly showing this. I stand by my statement, though I accept that there may be a tricky way around this that I am not aware of. Yours with uncertain apprehension;), BiPod. Weapons_Save.trk
  13. Hmmm...you seem to be on to something there. Rippling 10 rockets with CCIP and 50kts wind gave a consistant error. The rocket groupings were all upwind of the target regardless of the direction of attack. The computer seems to be overcorrecting. Dropping wind down to 30kts (as per Vipers post) halved the error and brought the target to the edge of the rocket grouping area. Zero wind attacks put the target in the centre of the rocket group. It seems you do have to aim 100* meters or so downwind to hit the target. *My eye estimate may be very wrong here. BiPod.
  14. EDIT: I was completely wrong about this, please ignore my comments @RichardG. Sorry, looks like I ended up hijacking your thread. "Mashing" the save button is not enough unless you have also changed the profile name. If you do not rename the profile then the changes will only last until you cycle to the next profile. BiPod. EDIT: Just think of the save button as a windows "Apply" without saving, and a rename and save as a Windows "Apply" and "OK".
  15. ...and now I've done it in the mountains. Again, with 50kts crosswind and CCRP with Mk82s from high altitude I had no problems killing softtops parked on a 45 degree slope amongst high mountains. My CCIP bombing sucked about the same with and without wind, but consent release was very awkward in wind. I don't recommend CCIP in wind, but then again, I don't reccommend it in still weather either;). My conclusion is you should operate in high winds more or less as you would in low winds, and just accept a slightly reduced kill rate. Well, not for me. If you want to submit a track I would be glad to check it for you:). If you like I will submit mine. Learning more every day, BiPod.
  16. Ahem.......Errr......is that what you are planning to tell the courtmarshal when you get back? Rumour has it you also gave them valuable target information!;)
  17. :megalol: I thought the general rule was to never eject over a target you just bombed. Don't forget, you just killed several mates of the people who are now holding you prisoner. The Geneva convention has its limits.
  18. Ok, I have finished checking the manual LASTE wind correction method, and these are my conclusions. - IT DOES NOT WORK! -Manual Pg 204 explains how to enter data. -Nowhere in the manual does it say that it is for dropping dumb bombs. -Nowhere in these forums is it definitively stated by a developer that it is for dropping dumb bombs. -Even Dynamos final CDU picture shows the set wind to be unchanged (Top right corner; this is unconclusive for several reasons). -Automatic wind correction works pretty darn good anyway. -Perhaps it has some value if the automatic system is inoperative. If Dynamo reads this, I would love to hear his views. He admitted upfront that his results may have been just luck, and his work was with the Beta. On the other hand, maybe I am just doing it wrong. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To answer MadTommy's question: In a 50kt cross wind (at all levels and in open plains) I was able to kill softtops with about 50% success rate at both 10000 feet and 3000 feet. Interestingly, the altitude made no difference to success rate. This was using CCRP in combination with the TGP and Mk-82s. I dropped about 15 bombs in my tests. I did not try CCIP bombing. The hud symbology was a bit weird, and the line up method is different from a low wind attack, but apart from this all went well. I do not beleive that attacking from different wind angles will make any difference, but I have not checked this. You mentioned in your second post that you did it in the mountains. I will recheck my results there. As for the rockets. I can't hit the side of a barn in zero wind anyway:smilewink: BiPod.
  19. I was about to write a long post about this. My opinion is that CDU LASTE correction for dumb bomb delivery as mentioned in the above link does not work. I just spent an hour or so testing it with the release version and it makes no difference. I am willing to accept that I am just doing something wrong, but advise anyone to treat this thread with caution. Ready to fall flat on my face, BiPod.
  20. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou! I have frustrated myself silly trying to get this to work. I have always tried it with uneditied lua files so my edits didn't interfere, but now see I should have kept the UseDefaultSnapViews edit in place. Rep coming your way, BiPod
  21. "Your application to become a Mod has been received. Please wait to find if you have been successful":) Personally, I would have gone with "That genre does not suck, and you are being rude", but that seems to go against the "cognitive therapy" approach to moderating. Cross pollination of threads sows confusion. That's why it's so much fun! --------------------------------------------------------------------- I vote for video one. Awsome trailer! GlowingAmraams video is missing a little something, and I know what it is......Zombies. Many, many zombies! Maybe someone should suggest this for his next promo "DCS:FXX Vs the zombies" Cheers, BiPod.
  22. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=68672&highlight=marker+beacons This was identified as a bug in the post above by EvilBivol (ED assoc. producer). I don't think it was fixed in the patch as it was not listed in the bug fixes. BiPod. EDIT: See post 13 in the above link regarding marker beacon tones. Bug.
  23. 'bout time I got you for a change ;) @Paulrkiii Agreed. The more speed to break off the better! ...but as I said "no argument will be entered into."...unless of course you agree with me:) BiPod.
  24. Welcome Dr Zaius, I am always pleased to help a future overlord with weapons training. Yes this has been discussed recently but I couldn't find the post. Most discussions I found with "search" - like this one (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=64476&highlight=PAC+flaps) appear to be beta bug talks. What I have read somewhere: Both PAC 1 and PAC 2 will engage regardless of airbrake position (look at lower left of HUD), but with airbrakes extended the SAS authority may not be enough to hold the aircraft steady while firing. What I can confirm from experience: I find that with airbrakes extended PAC 1 (first stage trigger) works fine, but the plane pitches up when firing. Despite the tutorials telling you to use airbrakes, I find it better to leave them retracted (no argument will be entered into;)). As for the bullet splash symbology check manual page 369: 3. Bullets at Target Altitude (BATA) Circle. This small circle on the HUD is calculated using CCIP gun ballistics and represents the estimated impact of gun rounds based on time of flight. The BATA circles only started appearing for me with the final release. They are calculated the same way that all CCIP calculations are made: Exact aircraft position and velocity + database of terrain altitudes + (F=ma) + magic + goat entrails = CCIP No. In all the videos I've seen all that you see is smoke from the aircraft and a lot of dust on the ground. Maybe in very humid conditions a trail could be left but I doubt it. Anyone...anyone...Bueller....Bueller? Cheers, BiPod
  25. Definitely study the manual first. It's the slowest way to start but the quickest way to "master". Memorise the location and proper names/acronyms of every system in the cockpit (pgs 82-171; the CDU can wait). Take notes if required. This may sound tedious, but its only a couple of days work and everything will be much easier to learn once you have memorised the basics. You will end up learning in half the time. Nothing's worse than reading a passage such as this....."Line up the PLKT with the GRTS until the HRT starts flashing 'READY FOR FDO AQUIRE' " and not having a clue what any of it means. If you can't understand it, it means you have not properly learn't what was written before. It's all there for you in the manual and tutes. Slow and careful will get you through quicker than skimming and hacking. ....but most of all have fun. If it all gets too much then "kick the tyres and light the fires". ...or, if you are an American, you can "kick the tires and light the fires" instead. 20 people 21 opinions on this one, BiPod.
