Thoughts about missions / Campaigns / Scenarios
Rick Mave replied to markturner1960's topic in DCS: Cold War Germany
Yeah but that's just the problem. They were marching in from Tbilisi. We had strike flights hit some bridges and then they divert to get to that field where they were supposed to unfold from their march formation. Anyway I have found a more elegant solution since then so it's all good. Thanks for the tip though! -

Iain was totally my inspiration for getting into the cold war scenario creation in DCS. I would love to see some satellite imagery of soviet FARP or command post structures. I have been looking around everywhere but never seen anything that breaks down in a concise manner, let alone illustrated properly. -

I have made a MP campaign before simulating this exact type of encounter on the Caucasus map, coming from the Tbilisi area onto the flatlands south of the Caucasus going west. Safe to say it was very epic watching my units placed with autistic precision try to assault the outnumbered defensive positions, but boy did the red tank assault insist on falling into single file march formations after unfolding into their wedge and starting the assault... -
@MAESTR0 Dude Wittmund has to be in Phase 3 at least... Any chance that planned Phase 3 content is still being adjusted?

Unless the cover features a Wehrdienst leistender 18 Jähriger mit Schnurrbart and Kippe im Mund I'm not buying it.

My concern is that the road surfaces that are actual road surfaces in DCS won't match up and that it will be bouncy as hell. Let's hope that Ugra delivers, I'm certainly hopeful they are going to.

The AI is not so much my concern as the areas to turn an aircraft around off the RWY while not having to run through the grass off the side of the RWY. Pictured here

Yes, this is my biggest worry, besides the fact that a lot of stuff will need to be placed by us as mission makers rather than already being part of the map like on the Vuojarvi highway strip on Kola for example.
-
Does it? Pretty sure the FARP doesn't remove any trees. You gotta use the "remove scenery" function from the Trigger options.
-
Can you point out any on the map here? There was no mention of any of them in the announcement posts. And yes, I'm aware you can fenagle together a decent road base, they're not quite the same as the proper Ersatzpisten which have some spots to turn around, rearm, etc.
-
Are there any in Phase 1? Perhaps a suggestion may be made, advocating for a new type of mission editor tool? Looking forward to answers.

1./JG71 "Richthofen" - Cold War, full-real [für deutsche Piloten]
Rick Mave replied to Volator's topic in Jets Squadrons

Any updates on the Matra 250 chute retarded bombs? -

The Ersatzpisten have to be part of the map imo. Same with SAM site emplacements and other military facilities particular to the Fulda Gap Region of the 80s imo. -

I'm hoping we get some more cold war BW ground assets like an Iltis or a MAN Kati. Run off the mill T72A would be nice as well. -

Also a fair argument. I think this will be the most interesting map we get so far though. Definitely the era of military aviation I am most interested in, so this truly feels like a gift made for me specifically. -

Or you know, something normal like an RF-4 sortie up and down the iron curtain.
