DCS REFORGER 24-11 Live Exercise 'Lead Rain' was a cooperative PvE event in which BLUFOR assembled a strike package to take out targets along a simulated port facility, a SAM system covering it and cover it all with some CAP. Flying out of Senaki we were able to achieve all mission objectives and gain valuable experience with time on target low level navigation, cold war specific A2A tactics and effective employment of weapons against suppressed GBAD threats. The following are some impressions from that flight. Some images of the range facility. The entire range and all subsections were equipped with IP Towers aiding navigation. These were used extensively to update INS navigation and as visual references for dead reckoning navigation. Of course a large airlifting exercise would not be complete with some airlifting happening at the time of our air live exercise component. Here we can see a B-1 Lancer as well as a C-17 Globemaster touching down at Batumi airfield. MILLER and BARON flights lined up at holding point Foxtrot RWY 09er. MILLER flight of 480th TFS was tasked with SEAD against an SA-2 site which was subsequently struck by BARON flight of 1./JG71 Richthofen. BARON flight on its attack run against the SA-2 site utilising the BL-755 cluster munition in a divetoss delivery. They met their ToT by a margin of 10 seconds. KNIGHT flight of TDCS on their pop up to strike their targets at the port facility. And the result... Hi everybody, My name is Rohrkrepierer or Alex and I am the host of DCS REFORGER. DCS REFORGER is a series of events that focuses on bringing together different cold war milsim squadron in a collaborative effort to put together a believeable and immersive exercise scenario every couple months or so. So far, we have held 3 events. Each with an increasing amount of participating squadrons and pilots. Starting out, we set the event in a fictional range facility in the mountains of southern Georgia. We then moved on to a low level navigation focused exercise set on the Kola map. With the release of the CW Germany map, we moved the event series home to where it should take place. In the future we will for sure still host the occasional exercise on Kola for the extreme low level navigation possibilities the Kola map is particularly suited for. I am always looking for enthusiastic milsim squadrons that would like to participate, so please reach out if this event series is of interest to you! In the following posts I will present the events that we have held so far. Please use this forum to reach out to me with any questions! What is DCS REFORGER? Inspired by a relative lack of cooperative events for milsim communities focusing on the cold war environment, DCS REFORGER aims to provide a space for the exchange of experiences and know how in the context of a Large Force Exercise using both AI and Player Opposition to maximise experience gained per evolution of the event. Who can participate in DCS REFORGER? Anyone who has been invited and is active in one of the many DCS squadron communities. What are the prerequisites to participating in DCS REFORGER? The following are the absolute necessities that you should be capable of in order to take part in DCS REFORGER: - Must be mission qualified in your squadron community - Must have SRS installed and working - Must be able to perform all radiotelephony aspects typically used in military air traffic to procedure When do DCS REFORGER Events happen? The typical planning cycle and workload allows us to put together one event about every three months. What map will DCS REFORGER Events take place on? The CW Germany map is where REFORGER will host the bulk of its events, however we are also utilising the Kola map as it offers ample opportunity to put large scale training scenarios into the vast flatlands of the arctic circle regions in Norway, Sweden and Finland. What mods will DCS REFORGER Events feature? Some select mods will be used here and there to maximise the entertainment and learning factor that REFORGER LFEs can provide. There will also be a livery pack provided for each LFE which can easily be installed using a mod manager and which is required to have installed to participate. Why REFORGER specifically? REFORGER in its entirety was an amalgamation of many different exercises by NATO member states with a focus on delivering NATO ground forces from the US to Germany within a timespan of 24 hours in the event of an armed conflict between NATO and the Warsaw Pact at the time. Considering that many exercises were conducted at the time, we have determined that the REFORGER environment is one of the most interesting ones to choose to give the context to our LFEs. As the training missions are fleshed out, we will be adding more to the environment that serves to immerse us in this unique scenario. That said, we are not able, or looking to accurately depict a REFORGER exercise in all its aspects specifically, but to utilise the timespan during which REFORGER exercises happened (1969-1993) which allows us to cover almost every possible use case of the modules available to us in DCS all the way from the Tiger to the Phantom and even the Viper. What will a REFORGER Event look like in practice? Ideally, REFORGER will be an environment for know how and experience exchange, where multiple squadrons of the same airframe will come together to work a specific topic during any event. For example, a squadron with B-Course material on AGM-65 delivery off the F-4 Phantom will cover the topic in a presentation to all of the Phantom pilots attending the event. Then all Phantom pilots will fly the training mission provided to the event hosts by way of a static template made ahead of the event and conduct the training in DCS. After completion, there will be a debrief utilizing TacView and a round of feedback by other squadron participants in order to point out issues in training material, exchange best practices and know how and so on. Another regular event type will be one off missions planned out by the participating squadrons based on provided information material such as a mission file with information, commander's intent, objectives and intelligence material. These missions will be briefed by the event hosts, flown and then debriefed together in order to address points of improvement for all participants. Thank you for your attention and see you around, Rohrkrepierer o7

I'd love to see an Alpha Jet at some point.

Awesome mods, really enjoying the P-8 and E-7. Now my question is: Is anyone aware of a C-160 Transall mod? I would really love to have that for the CW Germany map and scenarios.

I can look for some reference images, but really there isn't much going on at these fields. The revetmends, cool as they are and possibly make sense for fixed wing aircraft, having these at helicopter bases feels like they are a bit out of place. There really isn't supposed to be much stuff on the flight lines at any point anyway as far as I know.

@MAESTR0 Great work on the patch, the map seems to run a little smoother for me. Here is the requested bug report for the Adelsheim NLP : Good luck, hope to see some more updates on this in the near future!
-
I have some suggestions for and bugs to report about the NLP Adelsheim in the south of the map Should be renamed to "NLP Adelsheim" or "NLP A81 Adelsheim" The Adelsheim "warehouse area" (black circle on map that indicates rearming service range) needs to be moved Someone call the landscapers! - There are currently trees growing from the runway surface on both runway ends NLP not connected to any road (should be part of highway infrastructure) terrain to the West and East show significant oddities (jagged terrain, unnatural flow of terrain, etc) NLP missing some flight safety equipment, NLP flight safety was ensured by the Flugsicherungsanlage 70. The FSA-70 was equipped with the following pieces of kit: Kontrollturm/TWR auf LKW 5 to gl MAN 630 L2A UHF-Peiler auf LKW 5 to gl MAN 630 L2AE Rundumsuch-Radargerät „Airport Surveillance Radar“ (ASR) Endanflugradar „Precision Approach Radar“ (PAR) Anflugfeuer „Tactical Air Navigation“ (TACAN) Markierungsfeuer-Ausstattung Flugfeldbeleuchtung Stromversorgung mit mehreren Stromerzeugern auf Anhängern I understand that the NLPs may be implemented similarly to the SAM sites where there may be a universal NLP template that just gets pasted in the correct locations. If that is the case, I would like to draw your attention to an extensive writeup of the reqirements for NLPs from the 60s: https://www.geschichtsspuren.de/artikel/luftfahrt-luftwaffe/113-autobahn-notlandeplaetze-nlp.html Additionally the great website https://www.mil-airfields.de/deutschland/autobahn-notlandeplaetze-nlp.html has some great resources on the layout, photos and even layout plans. Ground service area location West EOR Tree growth East EOR Tree growth Missing Equipment from EOR Odd terrain and no road connection West EOR Odd terrain and no road connection East EOR I hope that this post is helpful in fixing this and improving future NLPs on the map! This is one of the main aspects I was excited to do on this map and I am super happy that we are getting at least one right away! Thanks for reading and if you can find any other issues with this NLP, or have any more suggestions on how to make the NLPs more historically accurate, then please post a comment in this topic! Yeah it's in need of some refinement ^^

Great resource on NLP Operations: https://www.geschichtsspuren.de/artikel/luftfahrt-luftwaffe/113-autobahn-notlandeplaetze-nlp.html Various military sites in and around the city of Bremen but including one NLP: https://www.relikte.com/uebersicht.htm

Yessir, will do!
-
Has the Adelsheim NLP been fixed? There were trees on the runway and the map icon was not on the NLP. It was also not connected to a road and the terrain surrounding it looked very odd. I can write a bug report if that's needed.

You can change it if you'd like you know.

I want to propose a rework of the BL-755 bomb and the addition of the mkii variant with chute retarded submunitions. The BL-755mk2 saw extensive use in the GAF and RAF, and is currently missing from DCS entirely. Currently we are encountering some hurdles when trying to recreate the low level ingress bombing runs that the GAF favoured in the 80s, using the BL755 that is in the game. The BL755 that is in DCS has an arming delay of 2 seconds, resulting in the frequent deployment of duds as it forces us to go above the realistic run in altitudes. This results in a run in of around 300ft, as opposed to the would be realistic ~150ft altitude at release of the bombs, as well as puts the aircraft at increased risk due to the free fall submunitions reaching the target significantly faster than a chute retarded submunition would. Would it be possible to implement this bomb in DCS? Further, the current model of the bomb is in a pretty poor state visually, compared to the more recently reworked CBUs like the CBU-87 https://cat-uxo.com/explosive-hazards/submunitions/bl-755-mk2-submunition

Honestly, like I said before: None of them really need it. The map is great as it is, especially the airfields. What I would love to see, are some historically accurate layouts for FARPs, artillery positions, field C2 posts, etc. Either way, some of the more popular airfields so far are definitely Ramstein, Spangdahlem and the Fulda Heli Port.
-
We absolutely need the French corner that housed the POLYGONE EW Range around Ramstein. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multinational_Aircrew_Electronic_Warfare_Tactics_Facility_Polygone
-
If you have the .hgt data files for the region from the SRTM Mission (Publicly available data from NASA), you can get terrain data for basically any region on earth to be displayed in TacView. That will NOT have the airfield locations and runways displayed though obviously.
-
Finally there will be a Fitter with more than eight Polygons on its 3D model! Looking forward to this one!

The little guys inside have the default green digital texture unfortunately. Other than that the skin is great! -

I found one! There are currently trees growing on it and there is no road going through, but it is something. I suspect @MAESTR0 and team made an infrastructure "module" similar to the SAM positions that they are going to place around the map where they were located historically? Maybe you can shed some light on this. Here it is for comparison: https://www.mil-airfields.de/deutschland/autobahn-notlandeplatz-nlp-adelsheim.htm If anyone finds any more of these, post them here!

Looks like you can get the entire thing for around 80 EUR. Do you know if that link is dead or if this still works?

Hi everyone, since there are no charts maps or diagrams included in the Germany CW map by Ugra Media, I want to open the topic here and share/discuss any possible sources and charts we can use for our awesome missions on this map! If you have any period correct charts and you are willing to share them, please do so here. I am aware of the MilAIS.org page which publicises the CENOR FLIPs and other charts, however these are not particularly usable any more since there are several severe discrepancies between them and the map we have in the game. Thanks in advance and I am looking forward to see what you have to share, Rohrkrepierer o7

I noticed last night that the Jettenbach Quarry north of Ramstein Airbase is missing. It's used as a VRP for northbound departures.
