  1. I thought the tutorials were quite well done in showing all the capabilities of the aircraft but what I really needed was one more tutorial that kinda tied it all together. For example, how often does the pilot press the trim button during a mission, and when? I understand all the different things about the weapon systems, but what is the most common process to quickly hover and attack an armored target with missles? When are you pressing the trim button through all that? ;)
  2. I assume this mod would be one that would have to be purchased?
  3. When I was waiting for DCS:BS to come out, I would watch, and re-watch the Producer Notes and the SimHQ movies over and over. One thing I noted that I was really excited about was the little details in the airfields such as the taxiway markers. But I have not seen anything like that at any of the airfields so I thought perhaps you had to put them in using the editor, but I could not find the objects there either.... anyone know how they got the details in the airfields like that?
  4. Is the Su-25 (and Su-25T) ready for 6DOF?
  5. Default key: Backspace
  6. Also, the 'Release Weapon' trigger has to be held down for a moment before it fires.
  7. And this underlines where I said before that I hate that the CP scheme is not clearly described from the outset. I also bought Far Cry 2 and if I had known it used limited activations I would NOT have bought it simply on principle, but since I did I do not feel it is that big a deal as you said, first-person-shooters do not have a very long shelf life on my PC. But simulations can last many many years and I do not like the idea that someday I will try to install Black Shark only to discover I have run out of activations and there is no way to fix it because the sim is no longer supported or the company has gone tits up.
  8. Wow I haven't used IRC in over a decade! I'll have to check this out. :)
  9. That is true, but it is good to get all these questions out now so that ED will know what concerns us as consumers so that they might be able to help us make an informed decision. :)
  10. It was removed? You referring to when Black Shark needed the CD in all the time and then they change it such that the CD only had to be put in for verification once a week?
  11. To be honest I don't really care if they go with Starforce or whatever. It is the limited installs thing that I cannot agree to. If it is unlimited activation/deactiviations or whatever, I do not mind doing that at all. It is the word 'limited' that bothers me. I don't like the idea that I am renting the software. I have already been burned with that type of CP before when I got my father a sailing boat simulator, and now he can't use it because it was limited to only 3 installations. I contacted the company that made the sim and they told me I had to purchase another license to get another three installations. And I think you meant to say "ED knows they cannot please everyone" ;) I am sure they will please somebody. :) BTW Thanks Tharos for discussing this with us.
  12. I think people without internet access will be unable, or at least less likely, to participate in piracy IMO. While I agree that ED has tracked numbers against lost sales due to piracy and the impact to that with CP, do they also have numbers for lost sales due to the CP of choice? That might be a bit harder to track. Now before everyone goes crazy, I am not advocating no CP at all (that is just crazy) but I just want ED to be aware that the type of CP they choose could impact the number of sales as well. The crappy part is that for most software titles they do not clearly explain what kind of CP scheme they are using so it is usually the consumer that gets screwed over after they purchase and attempt to install it, unless the consumer does their homework well after the software is released so there is time to Google all the complaints against it. As I stated before, if they go with the limited installations CP scheme, I will not purchase Black Shark. I had no problem with the scheme they used previously with Flaming Cliffs however.
  13. Well this thread is the first I have heard about any of this, and while I understand that ED wants to protect their property, I just want to add myself to the list of people who refuse to purchase a product that has limited installations of any kind. I liked the idea where LOMAC required the CD in the drive once a week, but if this 'activations' that was described in the first post of this thread means limited number of installs then I am willing to live with the disappointment of anxiously waiting for this sim for the last three years ending with nothing. Other than that I fully support whatever ED needs to do to get this done, including take more time. I waited this long... a little longer is not going to hurt.
  14. Nice. It has a very military look to it now. :)
  15. I was just going to say where is GA when you need him. ;)
  16. I know that the upcoming WW1 flight sim "Rise of Flight" (aka Knights of the Sky) had a video showing this effect when a WW1 fighter flew through or past a smoke column.
  17. This might be odd to say but I really liked how you did the end credits this time! Very creative! :)
  18. I just checked Chapters in Ottawa and it still has the old edition of PC Pilot.... keeping an eye out. :)
  19. I'll be getting that mag... thanks for the heads up!
  20. I think I read in a readme/Faq somewhere that it will not ship with a dedicated server but that it would be planned in a seperate download later on.
  21. Thanks IvanK and GGTharos, that was the information and expectations that I would not normally be aware of. I guess in my case ignorance is indeed bliss as for most of that video I could not comprehend where the problem was and how it needed to be improved, other than the fact that the missles never hit their targets of course. ;)
  22. Not sure if this has been posted yet, and I gotta run (no time to search) so I thought I would quickly post this: http://www.stage6.com/user/urze/video/1843469/Black-Shark-at-Simware-Simulations-Show-08
  23. As a disclaimer, I would first like to mention that I by no means know very much about A2A combat let alone BVR. Up until recently I was strictly an Su-25/25T pilot. I just finished watching the video that =RvE=Yoda and =RvE=Voodoo, and saw the part where several AIM-9M's were fired at Yoda. In that part Voodoo was chasing Yoda on the deck going about 800+ knots (approx 1280 km/h) at a distance of 0.7nm. I was just thinking that it made perfect sense that there was no way the AIM-9M's would ever hit Yoda due to the high rate of speed in a rear-aspect firing solution....? This would be due to the short firing time of the rocket motor on the AIM-9M? Or are they implying that the wind resistance is overmodelled on the rocket and/or the rocket motor is not as powerful as it should be? Thanks --Maulkin
  24. I dont know what sim you are flying but I am still pretty impressed with the 'old fashioned landscape we already have in LockOn and would go so far as to say I would prefer it over FSX. Some enhancements that would be nice are better rendering of clouds and cloud levels, and water that would look a little more rough in rough weather. ;)
