  1. How do I do this? I assume I set the TACAN to A/A mode? What channel do I set it to? What if I have more than one wingman?
  2. 1) After entering the offset for waypoint two, the instructor tells the pilot to press the BAD button to check the offset point that was entered is working, but does not tell the pilot to first to change DEST to 02 so you get what appears to be an error with both ENC and BAD blinking. The pilot must first change DEST to WP02 (press DEST twice) and then press the BAD button. The BAD button should remain steady and the ENC button will blink. 2) After checking the BAD should I keep it turned on? It says when I am ready I should DEPRESS the BAD but I am not sure if that means I should keep it turned on or not. Right now I am assuming I should deselect it. 3) The mission claims that after flying over the BAD should automatically light up but as far as I could see it never does. The only things that light up are REC and VAL. This is kind of odd because I would have expected the BAD to light up so it could be the mission is correct but the Mirage is wrong. 4) Might want to mention that your speed should be over 400 knots IAS or you get a big 'X' on the HUD but that is optional. :)
  3. Ah ok I think I misunderstood you. I was looking for a light that remained lit when a valid ILS station was selected. The light you are referring to only lights up when you fly over an inner/outer marker (along with an 'M' on the HUD)
  4. Hey Grabby, This module is still very much in beta with many frequent updates. The manual is currently outdated but I am certain it will be updated once the module gets to final release. But having a partial manual is better than none at all, wouldn't you agree?
  5. Can you give some examples? I am only seeing the 4 VOR (hexagon) beacons, but the only other symbols I am seeing on the map is the TACAN (which VOR/ILS will not work with..but that is why I have TACAN so that is covered separately), a rectangle symbol (for example the one near Krasnodar-Center 840.0MHz MB Chan 40) and the fuzzy symbols which I think are NDB's. I dont see any"hex with a box" or "hex with filled ears". That being said the VOR/ILS on the Mirage is very limited when it comes to the range of frequency values so, for example, I cannot set it to the frequency of that rectangles or the fuzzy symbols I referred to because they are much too high.
  6. I dont see any flashing light? Corner of what?
  7. one complaint :): The Rho and Theta symbols appear to be missing on the HSI (version 0.88 )
  8. Yay! I am glad you got this worked out. :)
  9. Oh I see! Thats odd ...I have tested it and it worked for me the last time i checked. I will check again and get back to you
  10. Pushing the button does not advance to the next waypoint. It simply enables the PCN to advance to the next waypoint automatically when you reach a waypoint.
  11. Thanks Firmek! Now that I know what to look for I found the other three: Mineralnye Vody : 117.1 Krasnodar : 115.8 Tbilisi : 113.7 It's gratifying to finally verify that I can get the thin needle to work. :)
  12. I just found this gem by Creative Fun which I had started watching but I must have gotten interrupted and never saw more than the first 25 seconds: This might prove useful to anyone else who is trying to learn the autopilot.
  13. Thanks Steph! At first I thought you must have been joking. That is not at all how I expected that to work but I kind of makes sense now with the how trim works with Select Alt. Hold.
  14. Please dont assume that questions precede the manual. Have you read it? I have....many times now. Just to show you I will copy and paste it here: Selected Altitude Hold. 1. Select the desired altitude by clicking on the selector drums. Minimum altitude is 1,000 feet. 2. Click on the button. The light turns on indicating that the system is armed. (this happens) 3. Click again on the button. The light turns on and the aircraft will level at the selected altitude. (this does not happen and it does not mention you need to trim for climb) And that procedure does not work. Which is why I am here...asking the questions. Guys, I have been on this forum for a really long time. I very rarely post. For the first time I thought instead of struggling I would just ask on the forum so I opened a series of threads, one question topic per thread. I am saddened by the number of times people dont really read the question but just assume I didnt do my homework and "go read the manual". And I dont just see this with my posts. I have seen this with several others as well which is why people will hesitate posting. But even if someone didnt read the manual...does it really hurt that much to help? It could be that the person didnt understand what they read, or they simply missed it. Typically I will copy and paste the information directly from the Flight Manual into a reply (with page number) so they know where to look for the next time. Just saying "go read the manual" is not helpful at all.
  15. Thanks Pikey I was just starting to suspect that and test it out. I'll give that a shot.
  16. Thanks Steph but as far as I could see it was mostly referring to TACAN which is the wide needle. Keep in mind I have read the information in the latest flight manual and I have gone through both the navigation and ILS landing tutorials a few times each. I set the ILS and i can hear the tone but the needle is stuck at the 135 degrees position. Am I missing a mode setting somewhere?
  17. OK that helps a lot thanks PiedDroit! That explains why sometimes I could get it to work after takeoff because I would set about 3000ft which is about 1000 ft above when I would engage the AP. I will test that out tomorrow morning.

    PCN modes

The upper window can be useful for getting other information. Baltic dragon goes into great detail in the second training mission. But in that mission we only have two waypoints: 00 and 01 and the 00 waypoint is special and has special functionality. This does not become apparent until you create waypoint 02. I am aware that all data I need for DEST as far as navigation goes can be found in the HUD, HDD, ADI and HSI but I am curious about the PCN and if it should indicate the mode. I am trying to learn everything about the Mirage right now and this particular thing stood out to me.
  19. Ah ok thanks. I had read that thread some time before but missed that connections. Thanks! :)
  20. I set the ILS to a known ILS beacon and confirm that the morse code is heard. The "Needle 2 Flag" is cleared, but that thin needle never points anywhere? How do I get that to work?

    PCN modes

I am aware that the DEST data only shows up in the HUD, HDD, ADI and HSI but I am not talking about those. I am talking about the upper window of the PCN

    PCN modes

Sorry lots of questions :) Is there any way to visually see if the PCN is in PREP mode or DEST mode when displaying data? For example I could have the Parameter Selector on 'L/G', PREP is set to waypoint 01 and DEST is set to waypoint 02....how do I know which (wp 01 or wp 02) LAT/LONG coordinates are being displayed in the upper display?
  23. Is this working? I have gone through the procedure as described in the Training mission #2 as well as notes on page 101 - 102 in the flight manual. When I click on the VAL button it appears to function but I was expecting the waypoint cross '+' in my HUD to move onto my landmark? Is that right?
  24. My initial conditions is cruising at 5000ft going 340knts 1) I set the Alt. Selector Drums to 10000ft and then set the AP master switch to on (green). Then I press the "Selected Alt. Hold button" and the yellow AFF light turns on. I then press the button again and it turns off. I am not able to get it to engage and climb to 10000ft. 2) But this is not always the case! Sometimes I can get it to work once (and only once) if I perform this action after taking off from a runway but when I press the "Selected Alt. Hold button" the first time it skips the yellow AFF and goes straight to the green ALT. Once it reaches the 10000ft it disengages and the Alt. Hold button lights up green. If I disengage the AP then I can never get it to work again. 3) On the HSI there is a "Selected AP Course Indicator"....how do I move that indicator to a different value other than 360 degrees? How do I get the AP to use it?
  25. Thanks I'll try these out right away! :)
