  1. OK that helps a lot thanks PiedDroit! That explains why sometimes I could get it to work after takeoff because I would set about 3000ft which is about 1000 ft above when I would engage the AP. I will test that out tomorrow morning.

    PCN modes

The upper window can be useful for getting other information. Baltic dragon goes into great detail in the second training mission. But in that mission we only have two waypoints: 00 and 01 and the 00 waypoint is special and has special functionality. This does not become apparent until you create waypoint 02. I am aware that all data I need for DEST as far as navigation goes can be found in the HUD, HDD, ADI and HSI but I am curious about the PCN and if it should indicate the mode. I am trying to learn everything about the Mirage right now and this particular thing stood out to me.
  3. Ah ok thanks. I had read that thread some time before but missed that connections. Thanks! :)
  4. I set the ILS to a known ILS beacon and confirm that the morse code is heard. The "Needle 2 Flag" is cleared, but that thin needle never points anywhere? How do I get that to work?

I am aware that the DEST data only shows up in the HUD, HDD, ADI and HSI but I am not talking about those. I am talking about the upper window of the PCN

    PCN modes

Sorry lots of questions :) Is there any way to visually see if the PCN is in PREP mode or DEST mode when displaying data? For example I could have the Parameter Selector on 'L/G', PREP is set to waypoint 01 and DEST is set to waypoint 02....how do I know which (wp 01 or wp 02) LAT/LONG coordinates are being displayed in the upper display?
  7. Is this working? I have gone through the procedure as described in the Training mission #2 as well as notes on page 101 - 102 in the flight manual. When I click on the VAL button it appears to function but I was expecting the waypoint cross '+' in my HUD to move onto my landmark? Is that right?
  8. My initial conditions is cruising at 5000ft going 340knts 1) I set the Alt. Selector Drums to 10000ft and then set the AP master switch to on (green). Then I press the "Selected Alt. Hold button" and the yellow AFF light turns on. I then press the button again and it turns off. I am not able to get it to engage and climb to 10000ft. 2) But this is not always the case! Sometimes I can get it to work once (and only once) if I perform this action after taking off from a runway but when I press the "Selected Alt. Hold button" the first time it skips the yellow AFF and goes straight to the green ALT. Once it reaches the 10000ft it disengages and the Alt. Hold button lights up green. If I disengage the AP then I can never get it to work again. 3) On the HSI there is a "Selected AP Course Indicator"....how do I move that indicator to a different value other than 360 degrees? How do I get the AP to use it?
  9. Thanks I'll try these out right away! :)
  10. Also, you should never mix weapons. If you have RK3 on outside pylons then either keep the inner pylons empty or put rockets on there as well
  11. This is my procedure: 1) radar power - EM 2) Master Arm - on 3) select RK3 on PCA 4) make sure TAS is selected 5) fire! I thought there was a time you had to set the bomb fuze selector on the PPA to INST but that does not appear to be necessary any more.
  12. My takeoffs are almost spot on now. Landings always result in a ground loop no matter what I do. :(
  13. I ran the mission a second time and this time I managed to get the tutorial to go past the downwind. I can only assume that I didn't get the speed down fast enough. Something I really liked about the Me109 training is that it would tell you if you were too fast or too slow. While I did manage to get the perfect approach and touched down at 90mph I still crapped out the landing :(. I have tried landing the Spitty about 20 times and each time I crash....I dont know what to do differently. Also I find that the downwind->final is so nose high that I cannot even see the gates let alone the runway! Note that I am able to land the Bf109 pretty much every time....but that plane has a lockable tailwheel.
  14. I would suggest that you keep the Active Pause on while the pilot is setting up the boost and RPM settings as it is easy for them to get distracted heads-down fiddling with the throttle and prop and loose sight of the airfield. Also, to ensure they know what airfield they are meant to go to, either add green gates to lead them there or say which one they are going to in case they get lost. I got stuck during the downwind as no other instructions were provided once I entered the downwind.
  15. After trimming nose down the tutorial gets stuck on the trim-right step. No matter where I trim the rudder it keeps that knob highlighted and I cannot get past that step.
  16. Not great for kneepad but good for iPad. :)
  17. I am really glad it is modelled in the sim. That being said i also would not mind if the option is disabled by default. As red_coreSix said, it is more likely the mission builder will forget about the option and it will always be disabled. I wish there was a way that if a Mirage is set to CAS the it was default on but if it is CAP then it is default off with the option to turn it on. But that sounds very complicated and risky to implement.
  18. Why so aggressive? I only asked you to provide definitive facts to back up your claim. I have just as much proof as you do apparently and there are pictures of the cockpit with the light under the RWR and the switch to turn it on (as modelled by Razbam). I simply ask you if you have more information other than historic practices, which do not indicate what the aircraft was capable of, only how it was used by France. No need to be aggressive. I would request you temper your tone. What is your source?
  19. Please show the data that proves this.
  20. These are all opinions. Just because the French 'C' variant didnt use it does not definitively mean it couldnt. Please provide proof that the system would never function on the 'C' variant. Personally, I would like to see all systems implemented. The moment you start talking about 'balance' then you are talking about a game. I want a simulator.
  21. Confirmed, the bailout animation appears to be broken right now
  22. The Spitfire cut-away diagram from page 11 of Chuck's guide (but higher resolution): Question: Did the Spitfire Mk IX not have a landing light?
  23. Isnt the Spitfire modelled in the sim a Mk. IX L.F. where "L.F." means low altitude fighter?
  24. That is an excellent video!!
