  1. Thank you all. It does appear that making it ONCE vice START trigger resolves the issue. I appreciate the help very much (and I will check out the DML toolbox when I have some time)!
  2. OK, so I've watched videos on You Tube and scoured the forums but I still cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm trying to generate some randomness is a mission I'm designing and I basically am trying to flip a coin 5 times at the start of the mission in order to generate 5 random values (1 or 2) in order to spawn groups. For this I have a MISSION START trigger set to run 5s into the mission as below. FLAG 1 is used to spawn 1 of 2 possible groups (TU95 responsive or TU95 UNRESPONSIVE). Those triggers are shown here (as you can see I even included a message to be shown in case I made a mistake with the spawn so that I would know what the value of the flag is) Not only don't either of these groups spawn, but I don't even get the message indicating what the flag value is. Below is a screenshot of the FLAG 1 is 2 trigger. I feel like I'm following all the steps I see in the videos (which seem quite straightforward), but for some reason, I get a very different result. Any help would be appreciated!
  3. Hello to all of you who are more tech savvy than me (which is almost all of you), I am so frustrated with the continuous updates of DCS that create almost as many issues as are solved that I've decided to download 2 copies of the game on my hard drive in 2 separate folders. I'm planning on using a somewhat dated version for single player since I'm generally happy with how it runs. In order to do MP however, I'm planning on keeping a second version up to date. The question I have is, is there a way I can use the key and controller bindings (that I have spent so much time customizing) from the older version in the new version? In other words, can I have it reference the already existing config file, do I need to copy & paste it somehow, or do I need to start from scratch? Attached is my folder structure. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  4. I can't speak to the AI accuracy, but I've noticed the accuracy both in CCIP and AUTO with these weapons is quite poor with the F/A-18C when I'm flying it. And that assumes I've put the thing on the thing, and. The results are often off by more than a few hundred feet. I've brought this to ED's attention elsewhere - I thought perhaps it was related to the new fuses but that appears not to be the case.
  5. Roger. Thanks.
  6. The new Pri Fly view with the recent DCS release is great. Minor point: it's lit up for daytime conditions, even during night ops. Normally once it gets dark, Pri Fly is illuminated with red overhead lighting so as not to affect night vision. On a related note, there is currently no way for the pilot to adjust the brightness of the lens or landing area lighting. It's pretty typical for the pilot to provide feedback to the LSO on the brightness of the lighting - especially during dusk when the brightness needs to come down considerably as it gets dark outside. Once it's fully dark, the lights are usually kept at a pretty low setting. It might be cool to make this an ATC comm menu feature. Having the lens closeup inset window to aid in glidepath awareness is cool, but at night, it too can be overwhelmingly bright and detract from the ability to see HUD and flightdeck lighting.
  7. Thanks Muchocracker. I was using an existing mission but I suspect the main issue was that I was on the previous version that hadn't yet incorporated the patch. The VT1 seems to be working as advertised. On a related note, although the CBU series were not known for their accuracy, they seem to have few (if any) effects on the DMPI. Whether bombing in AUTO (always preferred) or CCIP, the miss distances seem to be pretty substantial - in the hundreds of feet. I'll provide some screen shots and trk files to illustrate when I have some more time, but at least we're trending in the right direction now!
  8. I'm seeing this same behavior. CBU's are worthless until this is addressed.
  9. As long as the time of fall was greater than the time to arm (which is selected in the arming screen prior to starting the mission) your bombs should have gone high order. Were you employing from high altitude? I also frustrated with this and am thinking to revert back to an earlier DCS version as a result...
  10. I'm seeing the same. BRU-33's on STA 2 and 8 with 2xCBU-99 each. FMU-140 fuse with a 1.2 s arm and a 500' HAT selected both in the mission planner and then once in the aircraft (F/18C). On multiple runs, the cannister opens immediately after release regardless of HT setting. This obviously effects bomblet dispersal and accuracy making this weapon useless I'm afraid. As a side note, ED seems to have gone down quite the rabbit hole with this update. I'm not sure the new fuse functionality effort is worth the benefit frankly. I flew Super Hornets about 20 years ago and fuse selection was largely a matter left for the ordies to deal with. As pilots, we mostly just preflighted the weapons and made sure the fuses were present and the arming wires connected to the BRU as intended. Any delay fusing for more complex target sets required delving into some very nuanced software which we rarely did. On rare occasions when we might have gone after a hardened structure, there were targeteers whose sole job was to come up with the best weapon/fuse combo. In short, by adding this functionality, DCS pilots are now also being asked to learn fusing and some degree of weaponeering, which - without the appropriate (and classified) tactical manuals and software - is a big ask. I'd recommend offering an "easy fuse" option for those not interested in getting into the weeds in this subject area. I anticipate a lot of frustrated virtual pilots wondering why their weapons didn't operate as intended.
  11. Thank you Lord Vader. I'll get in touch. My knowledge is based on having flown APG-73-equipped Super Hornets from 2004-2005. Somewhat dated for sure, but that is how I remember it, and given the alternative, I hope you'll agree, it makes much more sense for the radar to be mechanized that way (even though my knowledge is based on F-18F, I can't imagine the F-18C would be any different). Although I don't have access to the manuals anymore, I suspect that if you were to scour whatever manuals you have access to, or ask any of your F-18 SME's, those sources would support my claim. In any case, it doesn't take away substantially from what is an outstanding product. I have nothing but respect for what ED has accomplished - I'm just trying to help in a minor way as I enjoy the product and appreciate the attention to detail the team clearly demonstrates!
  12. As realistic as many of the SC functions are, I'm surprised the aircraft don't perform a control wipe out once in tension. The normal flow is stick full forward/aft/left/right then full rudder deflection (which is possible since the NWS is disengaged). Just a small suggestion that would add some realism to an already great module.
  13. The best way to clean up the radar after you are no longer interested in monitoring a radar track is the use of GACQ. GACQ is selected in order to restore the radar to its neutral position (centered on the aircraft boresight), so that subsequent radar search volumes may be centered around the aircraft boresight. After raising/lowering the radar elevation or biasing a scan left/right of azimuth (after a crank for example), undesignating, selecting GACQ, and then selecting a desired weapon/radar set is a good flow, but if it starts scanning in the area you just left the radar before undesignating/GACQ, you now have to manually recenter the radar. To be clear, GACQ seems to always center on the boresight, but the subsequently selected weapon/radar set usually does not. This takes some time and is not how the APG-73 is actually mechanized.
  14. OK, I tried the steps you outlined (pls see above), but it doesn't appear to be working - or at least I'm not doing something right (likelier). I created a separate folder structure called 2nd DCS install. I downloaded the latest version into this new folder and I'm able to load it fine. I think the problem is I can't seem to find the new Saved Games folder that was theoretically created when I installed the 2nd version of DCS. I've included a screenshot of a search for Saved Games (that includes the backup I made before I installed the new version). Interestingly, all the key binds still work in the old (original) install without me having had to move any files around. I do see that the new version of DCS includes a "save profile" option, but the one I'm currently playing on does not. Do you know where this diff.lua file saves? I may be able to transfer that over directly (assuming I can find the correct folder to paste into)? Worst case, I can maybe update my current version to the latest one that includes this "save profile" feature, then upload the existing profile to the new install somehow? Of course the whole point of this was to allow me to keep using the previous version since it seems to be working great and there may yet be undiscovered bugs in the latest release. Any help would be appreciated. I think one of my issues is conceptually I'm having difficulty understanding how the Saved Games folder structure works. Thank you! MAXsenna, DCS has been a work in progress for me. Had I known that I was eventually going to use VR and need Voice Attack, your approach of leaving the default key binds and just modifying VA would have been a better way to go. Unfortunately, that ship has sailed... MAXsenna, null DCS has been a work in progress for me. 15. This is really helpful. I'm going to give it a try. My doomsday scenario has always been what to do if my bindings are lost since I have well over 200 set up with my Voice Attack since I use VR. Thanks so much!
  16. Thanks Exorcet. So if I'm understanding you correctly, I can install another version that I'll use exclusively for multiplayer in a separate folder. Is there a specific file or folder I should look to copy and paste into the new DCS download that has all of the key bindings/controls associated with the current (old) version that I can use to replace the default file/folder in the new Saved Games folder structure? Or do I just replace the Saved Games folder in its entirety? Thank you - this could potentially save me many hours or work.
  17. Thanks for the response. This seems like a good way to proceed. I'm assuming that means you need to redo all the key bindings, mods., etc. for the 2nd install? Are there any shortcuts? That seems like a lot of work!
  18. Please forgive my ignorance here as I don't do much multiplayer...I noted that there is a new DCS update on the street that I have not yet installed. I also noted that today when I tried to get onto one of the servers I usually do BFM on, it wasn't listed. In fact, there were only about 80 servers listed to choose from (and I did not filter out any based on map, password, etc.). I'm wondering if perhaps since I did not update to the latest version, that I'm only allowed to join servers that are running the same version of DCS as me? Any other thoughts are welcome? I'm always reluctant to update to a new version right away since it's been my experience that new releases sometimes create as many problems as they are designed to solve...Thanks in advance!
  19. Thanks guys - I'll check it out. I guess my main question is how to force a flag off that was set to true, then allow me to subsequently set it as true again. Basically to go back and forth with the flags so I can better control my close escort.
  20. Hello all. I'm trying to develop a mission with a section of fighters providing close escort to a section of attack aircraft. I am using the "follow" enroute task and have laid out a series of detect and engage circles along the route to control the corridor in which the escort may engage hostile aircraft. By default, the escorts simply follow the attack aircraft, but I've included a radio button to command the escort to search and engage (this gives me the option of having another section take care of the hostile aircraft and keeping the close escort close to the attack aircraft if preferred). No problems committing the escorts using the radio button, and I can even turn the search and engage task back off using another radio button (so that they can return to formation). I'm using flag 1 ON to start the detect and engage task, and flag 2 to turn OFF the detect and engage task and turn OFF flag 1. Now the tricky part? 1. Is there a way to allow me to recommit the escort once I've commanded them to stop the search and engage function (i.e. turn flag 1 back ON)? I'm thinking maybe a switched condition, but I'm not sure how (or even if it's possible) to implement this. Ideally I'd like to be able to turn the search and engage function ON and OFF multiple times in a single mission. Any help here would be appreciated!
  21. That's great news - thanks for the update and for looking into this issue!
  22. Just flew the mission and this happened to me also. Please let us know when the bug has been fixed so we can complete the mission as intended. Otherwise excellent!
  23. Thanks Tomeye and Wrecking crew. I've downloaded OGVME and am starting to get familiar with it. Before I get too far down the road, perhaps you could shed some light on a few items... In the case of the NVD Mod on this thread - which I've already downloaded and copied over the existing (core DCS) Bazaar Shaders folders - how would I undo that so that I can once again pass the IC found on some of the MP servers? Do I need to redownload DCS? If so, what will happen to all my skins and aircraft mods? Key bindings? Mission and campaign progress? Is there a way to repair/restore the folder in question (so my install passes the IC), then redownload the NVG mod and enable it using OVGME? Am I better served to download another version of DCS elsewhere on my hard drive? Thank you!
  24. Love the Mod and have been using it for many months now. I've recently gotten into MP and as discussed, there are many servers that won't allow me to join since my install now fails the IC. Is there some work around here for someone not using (or even aware of) a mod manager? Is there a way for me to go back and forth between a DCS install that uses the NVD mod and one that doesn't? Thanks!
