Can we get an update on how Beta testing is going? Any chance we might get Vulkan (as preview) in 2.9?
-
I think we will see Vulkan before a world map.
-
There is a G indicator in the HUD. There are also analog gauges.
-
Well of course. I don't really "care", just curious about any benefit, if at all possible. LR is also a small company with limited resources and they are basically competing with a giant that is Microsoft. A third party map developer nor ED compete with either. So I was curious if collaboration is beneficial on something like a map. That is all.
-
Just thinking out loud here and I know there is so many variables to consider. But is it possible (or is there any benefit) for ED (or some third party) to collaborate with a company like Laminar Research on a global/spherical map, where resources can be combined? Just something I've always wondered about.

Thank you. I actually read up on that yesterday after getting curious. Seems like the tow from a boom has been done on a F-111 in the past too. Very interesting. I'm curious how often the boom is used for minor adjustments at least.
-
The boom doesn't lock onto an aircraft or pull it as far as I'm aware. The aircraft being fuelled sits in the wake of the tanker which I'm sure it assists with the tow and a pilot told me that you feel when you start getting slow. Not sure how that translates to fueling from a basket though. Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk

AAR is a much better experience in VR. Still hard, but then it's not exactly easy in real life either. This is a Sim afterall.
-
Thank you. I did not know that was available in DCS. I'll try it out.

I'm just hoping we get a taste of Vulkan soon. Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk

I can with the F-16 and F/A-18. Haven't tried any other aircraft. I also only play VR. I find the 18 easier. The only "issue" with AAR in DCS is that you can't feel the wake from the tanker. I was talking about it with a real pilot a couple of weeks ago and he explained how you kind of ride the wake. You can feel when you start getting too slow. Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk

Will be nice for those of us using VR. I'm sure ED would love less forks to maintain too.

planes that you would like to see in DCS?
Zebra1-1 replied to Erich Alfred Hartmann's topic in DCS Core Wish List
We have the S-3B for tanking (AI, but so is the KC-135). The F/A-18E/F won't happen for a while. Still too new of a frame. Forgot to add the F-117 Nighthawk as AI. We have C-130 as flying AI, and if I'm not mistaken, a FD module is planned or in the works. Agreed with the FC3 planes though. -

Thank you. I wasn't aware of that. I read after that the Mig-29 is also planned as FD. Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk -

A full fidelity F-15C would be pretty sweet.

Oh man. I would love a full fidelity module! Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk

Just out of curiosity, does that mean DLSS will come after Vulkan? Assuming I understand all this right, Vulkan ultimately falls under the grand scope of MT, correct?
-
Are these the shadows on mountains that's seen when flying low? Like someone is turning the lights on and off over areas (lol)? I have my shadow setting on Medium and have this issue (with VR at least, haven't checked without). It's been happening since before MT though.

That was quick! Thank you kindly sir. Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk

Finally just got to try it. Steam Edition and using OpenXR via OpenComposite. Only did a quick Instant Action mission, but a noticeable gain for me. Everything just feels smoother on a whole. Absolutely zero issues. Excellent work Devs! This is lovely.

Are you on the latest Nvidia driver?
-
Exactly. There is also a known bug in the latest Nvidia driver that has caused performance issues. It's a noticeable for me. I could roll back to the previous version, but I'm too lazy. So hopefully I'll end up with two smaller bumps in performance once the driver is fixed. I haven't seen much discussion about the driver though. Makes me wonder how many people with issues are on the latest driver (for Nvidia users).
