  1. Nice I'd try to keep the bandwidth sharing to a minimum My MB has 10x 3.2 (8x 5GHz, 2x 10 GHz) on the back, 4x 2.0 bracket from the internal connector Looking at the block diagram, I'm pretty sure those 8x 5GHz are 2x 4 ports shared bandwidth (the 2.0 most certainly), the 10 GHz are dedicated Luckily, I also have a 4x 3.0 (dedicated 4x chipset) from the Startech PCIe card Got another 4x 3.2 ports in front if need be, and I could use the Front USB C 20 Ghz internal connector and TB internal connector on the MB for another USB adapter bracket ...and still have a 1x PCIe open for another card Currently running 12 usb peripherals (of which 4 on a hub), so I've got more than i need A Z790 has a ton of possibilities, but I wonder where the USB power limit lies (and don't want to find out, had this issue with a MSI Z370 board in the past)
  2. Great! Also looking around my own gear, I totally forgot I have a Startech USB card, and they also seem to offer a few Hub options
  3. Hi All. I've got a few peripherals that require an extension Though I may have enough 3.0 USB ports on my system, I also have a boatload of peripherals, as I don't want to exceed the MB USB powerdelivery, I'm not willing to simply extend cables And the trouble I have with my current hub, is that the connectors are cheap and not really doing a great job keeping the gear connected So I'm looking for quality over quantity No bottlenecks due to the hub itself Good power delivery Connectors are solid USB A connection I don't need 100 connections, 2x a 3 or 4 port is more than enough If they happen to have a powerswitch, that'd be a great bonus What are some of the brands/types I should be looking at? Thanks!
  4. Yeah, axis are too sensitive, and encoders take ages to turn
  5. Might be an idea to name the brand/type
  6. Thank you and is this TCP, UDP, or both
  7. Apparently I can't download my latest modules (Av8 and Nevada) on my new ISP The connection times out. whether I try cable or Wifi However, if I select my old ISP (currently still available on a different router) it does download the modules (on Wifi) I checked my firewall and all DCS entries are allowed What ports need to be open for the download?/Am I missing something? And where do I need to look? No problems playing the game for the rest Edit got it working by lowering the Router's security level Great, because I went from an 80Mbps to 1000Mbps line, so now it's minutes instead of hours
  8. I used my Oculus CV1 with OpenTrack and Nero Game VR in CloD, (as that game has no Native HMD support) and at the resolution of the CV1, only had real trouble distinguishing Hurricanes from G50's at a distance Mind though, that game is nowhere near as heavy on system specs as DCS Unfortunately I cant get Nero and OT to work to make a comparison with DCS since I now us a Reverb, and though OT has a SteamVR emulator (and it does track my Reverb) ingame I get no movement
  9. Well, if you have carpets, velcro is your best friend, my combat rudders actually take quite some effort to pull loose As for when mounted on a plank Just mount these on the board upside down This prevents the setup from hinging up when applying too much forward force might want to put some foam on the rear to prevent damage to the wall(paper)
  10. Well, ended up reinstalling the stable version, it works again
  11. Still can't get stable to run in VR I can force VR, but this will simply give me a 2d VR image and no image in the headset, no communication or tracking, it simply stays in the WMD environment Again, it works perfectly in OpenBeta and OpenBeta MT Again did a slow repair, disabled openXR Anything I need to look into? dcs.log
  12. Heh, was looking for this topic (Figured I wouldn't be the only one with the idea). I flew quite some hours in CloD using Nero GameVR and OpenTrack and I never had any problems with the VRysical boundaries in that game concerning closed canopies. Just like the people here that 'don't stick their heads out of the canopy', you very quickly get used to the limit.
  13. Hi all. For some reason, DCS Stable won't run in VR whereas OB (and OB-MT), it does. I checked all UI setings ingame for both and they appear to be equal. All 3 are loaded from Windows shortcuts with: DCS.exe" --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR, all 3 are opened as Administrator. Tried switching VR On/Off, changing Pixel Density, did a DCSrepair, it simply won't (re)open in VR and my Reverb stays in the WMR environment. (Standalone DCS, non-Steam version)
  14. So then the question stands: what happens when the GPU isn't the qualitive bottleneck anymore, which connection has more bandwidth to push more fidelity? DP does 80 Gbs, USB 3.2 does 20 Gbs, (and Thunderbolt 40 Gbs) ...and that's disregarding the measly 10 Gbs current Wifi does All fine and dandy that USB 4.0 is coming, but I sincerely doubt we'll stop at DP 2.0 for GPU output
  15. Aren't that more the limitations of your GPU? My CV1 is running my 3060ti at full blast, I have no doubt a newer gen VR set on whatever link, whether this be DP/HDMI, WIFI, USB, will do the same, without giving me much more of a visual improvement
  16. I sincerely doubt that USB link performance is as good as direct GPU feed
  17. Personally thinking about upgrading my old Rift CV1 Thought about the quest 2 or Pico4, but I have no real desire or need for a standalone headset. I know both can be tethered, but this is via USB, and I simply prefer a HDMI/DP signal. Another possible problem is that the CV1 has the lenses set at its widest for my IPD, so at 72mm, that probably kills about all the recent Oculus/Meta offerings
  18. Hi all, setting up my Virpil throttle and Stick and VKB SEM for the F-14. (also have 2 TM MFD's, but those will come later.) I basically kept the throttle handles true (as possible) to the IR nullL layout taken from the Heat blur Manual. Whether all those functions are useful I don't know, but most of them seem to do something positive . (Got a Hat and 1 button free there, for maybe some Targeting and other Jester cmds, though I have Voice Attack as well.) But I certainly could use some pointers on the (changing) state of other buttons. This is the current state of affairs: Grey plates are buttons/axes not under a Shift state (S0). The 5-Way Mode Dial is used to shift B1-B8 and T4-T6 and the Mode Dial also acts as 5 physical buttons, and assigned so they also change the Displays Control Panel Mode switches. White = (Shift State) S1 / Take Off. *and general layout of Basic (Grey) controls (S0). Yellow = S2 / Cruise *I figure I could put some Waypoint editing commands here, but I guess I can use 1 of the MFD's for that. I have one actually physically located behind my stick. Green = Air to Air / SS3 Blue = Air to Ground / SS4 (Currently focusing on A2A so no buttons assigned yet) Purple = Landing / SS5 *Yeah, this shouldn't be empty Now I'm guessing some commands can be moved/duplicated here (Autopilot VDI/HSD data functions for ILS/ACLS landing spring to mind) But having a hard time wrapping my mind around the protocols/functions/controls surrounding the landing procedure Trying to do a carrier landing in VR, while following a YT video is,... challenging Here's where I can use the most helpnull And lastly there's the VKB SEM (Situated behind my throttle, so it's somewhat true in location of controls) * the 4-way rotary can switch 2 modifiers, but have no use for that yet
  19. Hi there, new player to DCS. Started loooooong ago on a 286 with a pirated copy of MicroProse's F15 Strike Eagle 2, figuring out what function every key on the keyboard was. Followed up with (legal copies) F-117A and Gunship 2000 and forays in some other titles kept me busy for a number of years, until other hobbies and adulthood put that on hold. Few decades later, advances in technology, other hobbies having diminished, bit of a midlife (already had a motorcycle for years, so couldn't go for that ), figured I'd relive a little of my childhood, bought a 2nd hand Logitech G940, got IL-2 Cliffs of dover, and things went from there, to this point, where I acquired DCS earlier this year. Jumped on the 50% starter deal, and got a few extra modules along the way Luckily don't need much Spitfire training, because of Cliffs of Dover, but the F-14 is daunting (certainly far beyond the old F15 and a blank keyboard), and I haven't dared the A10 yet (apart from blowing the canopy off ) Right now, I'm focusing on the Tomcat, getting it in the air and flying around, I kinda got the hang of, now just the combat and (carrier)landing part
