F/A18E/F Super Hornets block 1 and BLock 2 E/F ( lot 26)
Archangel44 replied to Kev2go's topic in DCS Core Wish List
My Dad, God rest his soul, was stationed at Pensacola at the beginning of the Cuban crisis and got out shortly after as an E4 Petty Officer 3rd Class. AN is the Naval rate for “Airman.” My bad on the 4 as I was thinking of E4. Dad was an Airman 3rd class. On another note, the Connie was one of last few flat tops that ran on steam boilers. I work on boilers and I can only image how massive and loud those are. Also, two of my kids did their 4 years of service, John was an IT Specialist 2nd class and was stationed in Norfolk. Beth was an Operation Specialist 3rd class ( Surface Radar ) aboard the DDG 103 Truxtun. My Uncle Don, Lt. Cmdr called destroyers “Tin Cans” as he served on them for about 20 years. He was hardly ever home as he loved the sea. Uncle Joe was an Electrician’s Mate aboard the submarine USS Piper during WWII. He showed me his Dolphin pin. Anyhow, thanks for the inquiry as it brings back fond memories. -

Let us not forget… my Dad’s favorite while he served as an AN 4 n the early 60’s…. The F-8 Crusader. -
+1 Im not one to complain, in fact I tell people if you don’t like it, do something about it to make it right. But Gulf Delta, How Foxtrot long do we have to wait for a programmer, who’s overwhelmed with multiple projects to take some time and fix these problems. It should not come as a surprise to the Dev’s that so many of their customers are opting out on the “Pre Purchase Programs. Folks aren’t interested in paying upfront for a product that only partially works just to have to wait for it to fixed, while the Dev’s move onto other projects. I smell ADD in the room and I’m considered a veteran in knowing these symptoms as I have had since 5 years old. Would you buy a new car created with the same care as ED does with its mods? Dont answer that publicly as it may affect your roll here as a moderator/ team member. Archangel out.

I’m really looking forward to the F4 coming out. One reason is that I really like the F14 but I’m not doing so well at it. Back in the days a little before the F14 came into service, our Navy guys were flying the Phantom, as they were still commissioned, they took from what the learned from the F4 and transitioned to the Tom Cat, same with the Tom Cat guys who transitioned to the Hornet when the Navy decided to retire the F14. I’m hoping that once I can get a handle on the F4, I’ll be at a point that the F14 will be easier for me. I found this true as I spent some quality time in the F5 and I believed it made it easier when I started learning the F16. Different animals I know, but there’s just something about the old saying of learning to crawl before you learn to walk then run and finally leap.

If this is true, then that absolutely sucks for gamers. I would hope AMD doesn’t do that crap. I’m running an old Bulldozer, 8 core 4.7 MHz and so far so good. I did have to go into the Windows 10 advance settings to enable all 8 cores because by default, Winders only enabled 1 core and performance was not good, but now with 8 cores running, I get less stutter in game with my 1080 SC, although loading screens and ending screens still take a bit of waiting.

Need Help with DCS Bios and Arduino Leonardo
Archangel44 replied to Archangel44's topic in Home Cockpits
Thank you all for your help. I was able to do exactly what I was wanting to do. I installed another Leonardo board into the same project as I needed more switches. I ran into an issue because Windows could not separate both boards at the same time. I found here in this forum a write up on naming and readdressing the boards. Now I have both boards working at the same time. Switch Panel and Lighting Panel. -
Thanks all, Was able to change the names and ID numbers in the board.txt file and now I can use both Leonardo’s at the same time. I renamed one Leonardo to “Lighting Panel” and the other to “Switch Panel”.

Need Help with DCS Bios and Arduino Leonardo
Archangel44 replied to Archangel44's topic in Home Cockpits
Thank you for posting. What I’m finding out is if I want to emulate through the DCS bios, I would be looking for a feedback. This is what I’ve seen folks do when building say a, replica cockpit of a certain plane. In their home made cockpit, they lift the landing gear handle and they want their physical gear handle to light up like we see in the virtual cockpit. This is a bit more than what I’m looking for but it was the first few instruction videos I saw. -
Need Help with DCS Bios and Arduino Leonardo
Archangel44 replied to Archangel44's topic in Home Cockpits
Hey brother, I’ve got my little project done. I know it may look like a high schooler protect but it is exactly the functions I was looking to add to my rig. I used this type of board because it shows up in Windows as a “Human Interface Device” and it shows up in DCS. I found a guy on YouTube showing how to make a button box with this board, I also had to download a copy of his sketch cuzz without it, I would be stuck. https://youtu.be/wkY1NsbWj5I?si=4Aa7Gowuew-5vAm1 Thanks for your help. See the pictures. -
Need Help with DCS Bios and Arduino Leonardo
Archangel44 replied to Archangel44's topic in Home Cockpits
Thank you my friend. I tried what you suggested and it seems like it wants to work but with this I believe my problem is I only have about 4 hours of web surfing on how to read, write and understand program coding. I’m still using the Leonardo board but taking a different approach. I’ll keep you posted. -
Hey Folks, As the title says and I'm going to try to give as much detail as possible. Also, if anyone can suggest a site that may address this, please let me know, Thanks in advance. I'm trying to build an external button/switch box so that I can have a little more hands free controls instead of clicking on cockpit buttons inside the DCS cockpit. I have the latest version of Arduino IDE 2.3.2 installed for my Leonardo board. The LED's on the board light up and I can run the tests from the IDE software and test the board - OK The Windows Device Manager sees the board with no issues - OK I went to Github and downloaded the current DCS BIOS software and placed in a script folder. Users/Me/Saved Games/DCS/Scripts. I also downloaded DCS-BIOS Bridge tool. I also Downloaded the BORT software and from there, I can cycle switches and see them change state in game. From the screen shot, however, I cant get the board to talk or handshake with DCS BIOS. Any help is greatly appreciated. (Look at Screen Shot)

Hey folks, I want to create a small switch box, mainly for a lighting panel and a few toggles that I can use for all aircraft. My question is: What type of rotary switches, not potentiometers, that Winwing uses on their Orion 2 throttle base? Brand and type would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Keep up the good work.

Vibration motors not working in Advance mode while in game.
Archangel44 replied to Archangel44's topic in Winwing
I hear ya, It sounds like it’s in the profile. When I was working with the tech, we chose download profiles and my birds acted the same way as yours. After that, I started making my own and am still in the process of tweaking them. Right now, it’s set up to run while engines start and flying but getting them to vibrate during specific actions and various vibes… still a work in progress. -
Aircraft mods cause supercarrier to be unable to spawn
Archangel44 replied to bennyboy9800's topic in DCS Modding
Yep. In the mission editor, I placed a carrier with my F-18C on the ramp, saved the mission and started it. When the mission started, my plane had crashed into the sea, no carrier in site and the mission log showed I had crashed and died. After removing the Gripen from my DCS saved games/mods/aircraft folder, I started up DCS, loaded that same mission with the carrier and F18C and like magic, there I am on the carrier ready on the cat. -
Vibration motors not working in Advance mode while in game.
Archangel44 replied to Archangel44's topic in Winwing
Update: What we found is that the F15E handle, the one on the right needs to have a profile. Currently there is not a default or user uploaded file so what we did was create a new profile at the Dynamic Motor page, named it and used it. So really, like my setup that has both stick and throttle handles, there has to be a profile running for each: One stick and two handles or nothing works with the vibration motors. I’m sure they’ll come up with a fix for this in the future. -
Vibration motors not working in Advance mode while in game.

Worked with Tech and did get some headway but still not right. Hopefully they will make an update so that things will work smoothly as before. Its almost 4am my time and I'm about to crash and burn. -

Vibration motors not working in Advance mode while in game.
Archangel44 replied to Archangel44's topic in Winwing
Just an update… A tech reached out to me and wants remote into my computer. This will hopefully happen tonight. I know it’s not a hardware issue so hopefully he’ll find some code corrupted or out of place somewhere in their software. -
Aircraft mods cause supercarrier to be unable to spawn
Archangel44 replied to bennyboy9800's topic in DCS Modding
Same here with the Gripen mod. I love that plane but yes, carrier didn’t spawn. Now recently with the update, with the Gripen sitting in my saved games folder, I flew my F16c in A2G and the laser guided bombs and the GPS guided bombs would not hit their targets. I pulled the Gripen out of the saved games folder and my F16c nails targets every time. I hope the creator of the Gripen mod can do a little tweaking and make it play well with the other planes. -
As the title says. A few months back, I got the Orion 2 stick base and the F16 stick with the add on shaker. Worked fine and no conflics with my Saiteck throttle. Just recently, I purchased and installed an Orion 2 throttle base with the F15EX handles. Now the vibration motors don't work in the "Advance" mode, either component. However, they do work in the SimAppPro software in testing and they will work in game in the "Default" mode but not in "Advance mode. I've installed, uninstalled SimAppPro a few times, made sure all the firmware and stuff are current, the game paths are set correctly...etc I'm still on the chat with Winwing tech support and the person said they will pass this ticket along to the company .

I too am having a similar issue but mine also has an issue with the dynamic motors. The dynamic motors for some reason won’t work in DCS as well as syncing up with the lighting. Before, I had the F-16ex stick with the Seltech throttle and the joystick had no issues. Earlier this week, I ditched the Saeltech throttle and added the Winwing Orion 2 throttle base with the F15ex left/ F15E handles. Vibrations works in test mode but in game, no joy. I’m familiar with the SimAppPro software but there’s just something amiss. After uninstalling and reinstalling and following Winwing’s FAQ’s… still no joy with the dynamic motors working in game.

Hey fellow sim pilots. I'm hoping this is an easy one. I have the Winwing F-16EX stick with the plastic shaker attatchment and all works well. The question I have or trouble is this: When opening up the dynamic vibration screen, it only shows the planes that I have paid and received from ED. No other planes show up, and what I mean is for example...F-22, OV-10 Bronco, A-29... these free downloaded mods are not in the list from the Sim app pro software. Under settings, I cannot change the install path to anything other than C drive/Program files/DCS world Open Beta. To get the vibration to work on the free downloaded mods, is this even possible? Thank you
