Hi I love the mod, this actually looks much more like summer in Germany. But I think I have found a bug: I get blue cobblestones, like for example at the Hercules Bergpark in Kassel (the castle on the hill). How can you do this?
-
Idk if styrofoam is enough. There isn't much room, the "neck" part of the grip is really narrow. I wish they had at least partly used metal. Seems I need to open the grips to see how it looks inside. I was just wondering if anybody had already tried that.
-
No, I'm talking about the grip itself. The plastic bends a little. I got the counterbalance kit and installed a damper. That feels really great, apart from the bend when using the upper grip. It's not unusable. Far from it. But a bit annoying.
-
Has anyone found a way to make the grip sturdier? I'm thinking about reinforcing the grip somehow so it doesn't bed anymore, maybe by screwing/glueing metal parts on the inside, especially at the "neck" where the lower and upper grip meet. This seems like the most bendy part. I haven't opened the grip yet, so I don't know if this is feasible. Has anyone had a look at the insides? Using the lower grip is ok, but using the upper grip has some bend which makes fine adjustments harder. I find myself using mostly the lower grip for flying, which is good, but you do need to operate the cursor/FCR from time to time.

Canopy reflections almost totally removed after last patch
Papamiraculi replied to db349's topic in Wish List
This is good news. The reflections are there, but even at the highest setting barely visible. The only exception is the nasty knee board reflections in the F-16. It often shows as an orange or opaque white blob in the fwd right part of the canopy. This isn't dynamic either, as switching knee board pages does not change it. The slider is actually a great idea, but the range should be higher. Right now it is basically a on off switch between off and the slightest of reflections at max level. We need full blown reflections at max level, so everyone can adjust to their liking. -
[performance] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close
Papamiraculi replied to Bucic's topic in Game Performance Bugs
For me this has been a problem since forever. ED, you REALLY need to change something about the trees!!! It's especially bad in helicopters. It is the single most impactful factor when it comes to frame times. Trees suck up too much performance, even more so if shadows are involved. For me, too, switching off shadows results in more than 20% more frames and better frame times. It's more impactful than lowering resolution or DLSS settings,or setting view distance to extreme levels. It's crazy. It is NOT a VRAM issue. I'm running 4090 and 24GB VRAM. I've had the same issues with my 3080 and 10GB VRAM. Using tree mods (Taz better trees) helps a bit, but does not solve the problem entirely. -
Same. Microstutters after last patch. Ryzen 7800x3d 4090 64GB 6000, separate NVME.

I have no experience with the Q4Rigs stuff, but get rid of the twist axis maybe? You don't really need yaw for the F-16.I 've used the analogue stick on the shaker kit for NWS and rudder for some time. It was fine. The flight computer does almost all the yaw controls for you.

reported earlier Windscreen wipers have no effect on precipitation

Please make wipers work. Some Paradise Lost missions are barely playable -
Please make the wipers work. I'm playing through Paradise Lost atm and while the weather effects and rain droplets are amazing, visibility is really poor (which is crucial for some missions).

Canopy reflections almost totally removed after last patch
Papamiraculi replied to db349's topic in Wish List
Sadly, it doesn't work. It did take an awful long time to compile the shaders, but I'm still stuck with the new dynamic reflections. I tried adjusting the slider and the canopy reflections settings in the f-16 special settings tab but no dice (actually, these settings don't seem to do anything at all. The most I managed was to switch reflections off entirely, also the dynamic ones). -
The cheap and easy solution is to cut some plastic strips and squeeze them in the gap. I've been using mine for months now and it still works flawlessly. Cost: 0$ (used some transparent plastic of a package of batteries I would have thrown away). As long as it is thin enough, flexible and does not give in it will work. You can layer them, as most plastic packaging is too thin for the gap. You just have to really squeeze it tight in there. The metal solution by @101Feel above is the ultra durable version of it

Is there maybe a Lua mod which brings back the old reflections? I'm sure there are still in the game files somewhere... -
It seems some scripts are broken and/or the last updates broke them. It's the OH6 side gunner script+hook for me. Some people have reported the same about Tacview. After I deleted the scripts and hooks from saved Games/dcs.../scripts I got rid of the periodical stutter every 3 seconds.
-
I couldn't get a 3D either so I just used plastic strips cut out from packaging (the transparent bendable type, e.g. from a batteries package) and squeezed them in the gap between the head and the sensor, similar to my early cardboard shim mod (see above). The cardboard turned out to be soft soft, the plastic is just perfect.

Latest update multiple cores at 100% 3 second stutters
Papamiraculi replied to 104th_Money's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Thank you so much for bringing this up again. I had the exact same issue. Deleting Tacview/OH6 scripts has finally solved the issue. -
Same here. I get periodical stutter exactly every 3 seconds on an otherwise flat constant fps. GPU usage at 65%. No RAM/VRAM/Page file problems. It also happens when I pause the game via ESC. The in-game graph looks like this:

Canopy reflections almost totally removed after last patch
Papamiraculi replied to db349's topic in Wish List
Ok, so there is now a slider for canopy reflections in the systems tab in settings, but it only affects the amount of the dynamic reflections. There is a switch in the specials tab for the F-16 to choose btw no reflections and static reflections (it has always been there I think) but it doesn't do anything. I could imagine this is where one could switch between no reflections, static or dynamic reflections. And then use the slider to adjust the amount of the chosen reflections. @NineLine Is it possible (or even already in planning) to get an option to choose between dynamic and static reflections? I LOVED the old static reflections. -

Sounds like a great solution. -
Nah, I'm no genius. I just like to tinker with things Thank YOU for the 3D file. I don't have access to a 3D printer so I will have to try an online 3D printing service I guess. For the time being, I'll stick to the cheap option: cardboard and paper slips.
-
Don't mention it. Glad I could help. Wow, I like your 3D-printed piece. I need to check out 3d-printing services to get my own. In the meantime I just sqeezed in so many slips of cardboard and paper until the force mode became usable.

Pictures of the curve without any deadzone in transition and the cardboard piece installed. I tried to pull as steady as possible (still getting used to the MFSSB). I also managed to dial center deadzone down to 3%. Amazing feel now. It is a lot of fiddling and at these low center deadzone settings, even the tightness of the screws of the base has an impact. This is quite weird...
-
I bought the MFSSB recently and am trying to find good settings. This seems like a good thread. About the deadzone when transitioning: What I found out is that if you squeeze a thin piece of cardboard in between the axis head (the round "mini wheel") and the actual force sensing sensor (there really is just a very small gap) you can eliminate the deadzone for the transition between the displacement and the force sensing part. Perfectly sine waves are possible. I use two blade springs on pitch, on roll one is enough. (Will post pictures asap) I played around with different blade spring combinations and it is a bit of a chore because you have to dial in the axis i.e. calibrate back to the center afterwards using the two screws at the side. I also played around with custom axis curves in DCS, most notably the very first slider which helps to minimize the deadzone. Still not completed happy with it but it is promising and the cardboard mod seems to have helped a lot. I also have to get used to the forces needed here, currently I use values of about 20 on pitch and roll. If I turn it up my arm fatigues quickly (and I would consider myself quite fit I have to say). Coming from a full deflection stick with soft springs this is lot to handle.
