maybe you cant take it when you die... but she sure as hell can take it while you're alive bro. LOL I was getting into RC helis for a short time but it is too expensive for my broke butt. I got into the sims and really enjoyed them for a while, but then became bored with it. this hobby has a lot more staying power i think. -
you'll be playing that HOTAS like a concert pianist in no time!

Hmmm very good ideas here... I like using my rotary to zoom because the placement is perfect for me but the shaking does suck. Does anyone know what causes the shaking?

I remapped the snap-view activator key to just the NUM0 key... works so much better.

Wow thats interesting... I would have assumed that a 512 Meg card would be a slide show. hmmmmm. I wonder if that new AMD CPU is helping out the sim. How do you like that new CPU? I have a Phenom III 720 and Im not too impressed with it. I used to build gaming PCs (Predator Gaming PC) and the wifeys used to kill a lot of their husband's gaming aspirations. You would think they would let them go for it but they would rather have a "normal" guy that goes out to the bar, gets drunk and cheats on them LOL. Girls love the Drama  As far as learning the sim, I would not recommend the training missions.. they are very hard to read (text is too small) and the voiceovers are hard to hear (at least in Beta 4) and if that isnt enough, they tend to lock up! I printed out the procedure for firing a Mav, printed out the HOTAS functions and then printed out my stick layout. I used them for the first 2 weeks and now everything is almost committed to muscle memory. Very rewarding once you learn it all. Jeff -
very good stuff geskes... me and deadmeat tried it and got swatted out of the sky LOL the canyon flying is awesome BTW.

that video card worries me.... have you flown around and fired the gun at targets? a 9600GT is a rather old video card. I would definitely say a track IR is a necessity... it will eliminate the need for a POV hat and with a cheaper stick you will need that. also with a full pit a TIR is necessary. The Sim uses an amazing amount of Hat buttons on the HOTAS... Ive never seen so many before. I bought a Saitek X65 from ebay for $280 and Im happy with its features and quality. I wanted my stick to have a lot of buttons/Hats for other sims and not be "plane specific". The CH and TM products are better quality but you really pay a premium for them. Good luck trying to get your wife to go along with this... You may want to try and cure cancer as it may be easier LOL. -
hmmmmm... seems like a good thing to me LOL.

hmmmm... i bet a trigger in the mission would do that since the music is already in the sim. -
i dropped a pair of 97s on 4 BRDMs yesterday and it killed all 4. Spread was 150'.

wow... you actually started a post about the + marker bugging you? I can honestly say that i never even notice it until i use it.

If I dive straight (or near straight) down, my engines starve out after about 8 seconds or so. Looks like she wont do it. I am assuming it will starve out if inverted too.

You Sir are a genius.... gracias Jeff -
Hi all, I was tinkering with the surrounded! mission (I think it comes with the sim) to make it work in MP but I am having trouble with the triggering of the friendly notifications and the enemy units inits. I added 2 more flight for a total of 3 (air start). Hawg 1 is the original trigger to start the enemy units. I added the 2 new units to the triggers list but nothing activates when they cross into the trigger zone.... including when i fly the original trigger plane (Hawg 1). If I remove the 2 new triggers Hawg 1 will activate the show. any ideas what Im doing wrong? mission is attached... surrounded!.miz

Raz, there is a section in your game options (controller section) that has "axis assignment" or something like that. I assigned "analog zoom" to the rotary there. Like Leoking says, rotate the dial all the way up and down to fully use the entire zoom axis. Thats a good idea Leoking... I dont like where the mini stick because its in a bad place for my hand so I used the mode slider combined with the D key (I love the placement of the D key on the throttle and I use PTT more than any other button so I wanted it easily accessible and comfy)... I first re-assigned all of my radios to 1= AM radio, 2 = UHF radio, 3 = FM radio, 4 = "SHIFT" (which is my default TeamSpeak PTT key). 1, 2,and 3 are perfect for the radios because you have to have your hand right there near the F keys anyway when you are using the radios for ATC and JTAC. Using the stick profiling software, I then re-mapped my "D" button on the throttle to reflect these same keystrokes (1, 2, 3, SHIFT) when I move the mode select slider on the throttle to the different numbers. It works great! plus I can easily activate a radio once and then switch back to SHIFT (position 4 of the slider) so when I key the mic while using TARS the radio menu doesnt come up again. awesome setup IMO. I was thinking of using shift states for mapping some of the emergency flight controls to the Hats but I decided its kind of useless to do that so I made the radios work first. Friggin X65 isnt perfect but it sure does have a lot of buttons to use... I dig that.

battles over.... communist aggressors won because the mission planner has a life LOL.

I bought a used 60" DLP (Mitsubishi) used for $450 and Im really happy with it. It doesnt give me any problems and the picture is friggin great. The only gripe is i had to set my resolution to 1776 x 1000 because of Overscan but its somewhat common to have to do that on big screens. I dont notice any loss of quality. The HDMI quality has been amazing... Gaming on a large screen is life-changing LOL. Jeff
