71.81 Asus drivers give others weird graphics too?
Slammin replied to Yskonyn's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Yes, the temp bug is fixed in these. Great drivers btw, as well as 76.44 and 76.50. -
FC CD owners download options?
Slammin replied to Witchking's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I was trying to be humorous. But I could use the $$$ too in case anyone thinks I really was serious :-) -
FC CD owners download options?
Slammin replied to Witchking's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
No patches for you. Only those that downloaded FC will get future patches. There is talk of patches for the CD version becoming available on CD for a small charge but this is not set in stone. If all goes well though, those of you that bought the CD version of FC can send me the $$$ and I will see that your patch gets sent to you. -
Lawndart, Try setting your maxpacketsize to something less than 500. I would suggest 384.

Stuttering 1.1 problems What is going on at ED??
Slammin replied to SilentEagle's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I was experimenting with those values when serving with 1.02 and from what I could tell, pingperiod made a huge difference as far as server stability. I think this parameter sets the interval at which the server pings the clients to check their latency. I also played around with the max packetsize as well, and setting it to a lower value seemed to stop some of the 'server killer effect', where someone on a really slow dialup would crash the server. Speaking of a different kind of latency, everyone should use this tool: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=951 Set your video card to a value of 64 and if you had any video related micro-stutters, this should fix it. -
The EULA is what I was getting at though. I guess I should go read it again, but some EULA's, where personal software is concerned, do allow for the software to be installed on more than a single machine as long as the machine belongs to the purchaser, and the software will not be run simultaneously. I don't have a mouse, keyboard or monitor attached to the server. I do everything with it with remote software.

Is it kosher to use one of my 1.1 activations for my dedicated server? I really do not want to buy another copy just to serve, and my thinking is that the licensing agreements usually say the software cannot be run on more than one machine at the same time, but not that you can install it on more than one machine. Not sure if this is the case with FC, especially since it is SF protected. Thanks, Slam

Stuttering 1.1 problems What is going on at ED??
Slammin replied to SilentEagle's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I haven't run into the stutter problem online yet. My system is Intel w/6800GT. -
And in case you may be thinking the XG version would work, don't bother. REBOOT.... XG71.84 all the way!

this "add-on" is getting out of hand
Slammin replied to ShaK's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Let's see you model a new FM, wait, a new AFM for the A-10. You can leave all else as-is. So there, no new skin and cockpit work for you. Then again, if you are THAT good, how about you adding the full Mud Hen capabilities to the F-15? Again, no skin work - don't want to bog you down. Get a grip man. A lot of work went into this addon, no matter how you try to fit it, and being a newbie, or here from the start, does not change that fact. -
I want to change my downloaded Fc1.1 to CD version!!
Slammin replied to kiamia's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I bought a car last year, not knowing that this years model was going to come in the color that I actually wanted in the first place. Now that I see this years model of the same car I bought last year, with the color I really wanted, I think I will demand this years model! I finally got resolution to my problem at: http://www.kleenex.com -
71.81 Asus drivers give others weird graphics too?
Slammin replied to Yskonyn's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
71.89 seems to cause most of us 6800GT users the same problem for some reason. First time I've heard of a non-6800GT having the ussue. For the record, I would have given you the same advice as Biolog did. Im my own experience, though ASUS does sometimes customize the hardware and then adjust their custom drivers accordingly, especially reagarding things like temperature sensing or fan control, for convenience, it is sometimes better to just use the ASUS driver. But for best performance, it is almost always better to run the latest from Nvidia, and this has been especially true with the 6xxx series cards. Anywho, go here and grab the 76.44: http://www.tweaksrus.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=67&Itemid=41 I have seen no problems with these at all, they are fast, and the IQ is excellent. -
I have a great idea! I'll name myself fisherman and sign up and see how much attention I can get! This should be awesome! Another reason why breastfeeding should only be done by the mother, only.

There was a thread detailing how to adjust some timeout values. From what I remember, both client and server may need to be adjusted when some clients have less than 1gig ram.

And tha AAA defenses are much more aggressive as well. No more casually ingressing. You will get taken out. Use of chaff/flares is a must now.

"Does anyone know a driver set which works with Lockon 1.1." Yes. -
Nvidia : 71.89 drivers with 6800 ....

Too weird. And I run two partitions of WinXP and this is my 'clean' partition. -
Man, you folks absolutely kill me with your bs. If you are/were as sincere as this 'bleeding heart' reply, you would buy/support ED no matter what. Which hand is your credit card actually in? You, as well as all of us (hopefully) know that there will be no play without pay. I can tell you one thing, I'd be on here posting a lot more, but i'm too busy playing FC right now. I am so glad I grabbed it as soon as I did. "I dont like being disapointed, and I really am very disapointed I wont get to play FC, but there are very few things you can do that make less likely to support your product than treat me poorly." Well, boo friggin-hoo! Dude, who is treating you so badly? Looks to me as if a developer is attempting to bring you new and good stuff, and I can say that first-hand that some really great stuff has been delivered. I think we are being treated really well. You really need to check out FC bro. O'h well, back to my hole.

What's the Star Force version in FC?
Slammin replied to ThirdELTPoznan's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Roger that! -
That's assuming the CD version will be any different than the downloaded version as far cp is concerned. I mean, I can package my files on a cd and sell it to you and it would be no different from a downloaded version :-) I have not heard anything stating the cd version is any different from the downloaded version.

Can we please get an update on the pay-pal issue
Slammin replied to Kevlon's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
ED didn't prevent Paypal from screwing with you? Not sure what logic is at work here, but you went into an aggreement with Paypal, not ED. I personally do not care for Paypal, but it has come in handy in the past and I have to say that I have not had any problems with their service, but I get a little nervous everytime I use it. You can hardly blame ED that Paypal wants to charge you a buck for taking your money back, nor can you blame ED for Paypal dropping the account. Personally, if a dollar is worth the frustration, go for it, but I know I'd just walk away. One thing I do wonder though and that is if this is yet another case where we screwed ourselves? I mean, why would Paypal drop the account? Looking at this community, it would not surprise me one bit if it was because everyone called Paypal asking for their money back, and probably thining they get a free game out of the deal to boot! Oh well, I'm sure that's not what happened...... -
Wow, you guys running SLI Ultra's with puny PSU's! A noname 500watt PSU is probably putting out less than 18amps on the 12v line. I would be worried about my system frying running on that. A good PSU with minimum 28amps on the 12v rail and preferably 34+ would be better, safer, and a lot more stable, especially if you do any overclocking at all. Worse case? A cheapo PSU blows up from being overtaxed and takes out your mobo, cpu, vid cards, or all! P00F!! That Thermaltake is a good brand, but too weak for SLI Ultra's, especially when oc'ing. You are prolly running it close to max all the time, and remember, as they heat up, their rated max is much lower than actual capacity, so this is probably what killed your HD.

Disabling the Kill Message?
Slammin replied to 169th_DedCat's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I thought that was one of the highly requested additions to multiplayer. I personally think multiplayer messages in 1.02 were too scarce, especially regarding kills. Too much IL-2 for me :-) I guess. -
FX55 single card or 3800+ SLI???
Slammin replied to firesoldier845's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I replied over at UBI as well: "You should hang out here for awhile: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/index.php? But given the choices you listed, I can already say with 100% certainty that I would go for the SLI system. Just invest an additional $40 and grab a nice HSF for the CPU and overclock it until you get the funds to upgrade the cpu again." Also, I think the performance of SLI will last longer than the performance of the 850XT, especially considering the huge performance improvements seen just recently with new drivers.
