Is Motion Reprojection basically a reqmt these days?
Keith Briscoe replied to Keith Briscoe's topic in Virtual Reality
Yeah, pick your poison seems to be a good phrase here. I'm about 2 weeks or so into VR - absolutely loving it - but still figuring out which and how settings / apps / features contribute or take away from the experience. -
Is Motion Reprojection basically a reqmt these days?
Keith Briscoe posted a topic in Virtual Reality
Was continuing testing with settings and found that I have to have OpenXR motion reprojection on (unlocked) to keep smooth visuals. I have 14900 and 4090 with reverb g2. I can use pretty high graphics settings in game (lowering doesn't seem to impact) and I get 90 fps at times, mid altitude and away from stuff, but when I look to sides or generally fly lower it goes to 45. I'm not complaining because it l9oks good and is quite smooth. Just wondering if it is in fact the motion repro that is a requirement. Only other detail for my settings... I'm using 120% resolution (gosh, can't remember which app was used to set that)... that may be one more thing I'll test reducing to 100% and turning off motion repro. What are the downsides if any of motion repro? perhaps none! -
I'm still new in VR and working through all the various settings. New pc specs: 14900kf, 4090, 32gb ram (soon with 64), Reverb G2 v2 I can great visuals and strong fps, up to 90 and min 45. Only things that bugs me are: a) flickering / changing shapes (?) of trees as I get close to them, and b) the "filling in" effect of the forest as I approach Can anyone share which settings or combo of settings might improve these two effects? Thanks.

New pc, so ironing thing out. Devices working fine, etc. But, every time I start/restart pc, I get a not that SimappPro wants to do some sort of update. I appear to be on 1.13.1 right now. Is there an update I'm missing perhaps, or something else to check. Thanks.

Keith Briscoe replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hello @=Andre= and other SimShaker lovers! I have a new PC arriving tomorrow. Anything specific I should do to get back up and running with Simshaker (dcs) on new pc with regard to files, saved files, license, etc.? Thanks in advance. -

is pimax crystal light the next answer for you? -
It seems you are on to something... if I hadn't spent 2.5 hours trying everything, and ultimately resetting back to default settings... I would have see tour post and it would have opened my eyes. In my efforts I finally noticed that the game was no longer using the VR page for graphics settings (which I've obviously made to be much lower). So, in the end this was at least educational... if something awry in the future, I will know where to look first. I'm back to a pretty steady 45fps, with some drops to 30 temporarily in specific situations. In the process, I also learned a but more about OpenXR toolkit/companion. Thanks again.

all good there. I started with DCS on monitor with TrackIR; so I know how to use that. Thanks.

Appreciate your patience and I understand I don't really have a specific question. I've seen references in other threads/posts about things like, "here's what I did..."; or "try uninstalling XYZ"; or "only open programs in this order..." If anyone has suggestions, I appreciate it. I got a taste of VR, and it was delicious - so I want to go back for more...

Ok... could it be voice attack? I'm not at my gaming pc now to test. But that may be the only thing that is different.... now that I think of it, no.. I believe I had VA running while I was getting very good performance. I just can't think of anything else that's running in the background. Are any of the dcs EXE's more or less likely to have good performance? I guess not since you're saying MT is default and I notice in lower right that it is in MT mode whenever i launch in VR.

what's the exploit for Eagle? -
I'm a new VR player, Reverb G2 v2. 2080ti i9700k (upgrade inbound :-)). I use WMR, and the OpenXR Toolkit with the great suggestions I got from folks here. Initially, this thing worked GREAT!!! Since yesterday, I noticed it drop in performance. So I turned on the OpenXR overlay and sure enough, looks like performance cut in half. Are there typical suggestions for what to try when something like this happens? Thanks. Also, does DCS always open in Multi-thread now (since previous updates).

[Solved] Orion2 - no response from Right Throttle (Rx axis)

Amazing what disconnect / reconnect can do!! -
I'm still super new to VR, so haven't learned the tricks of the trade. If I want to do a session on my Monitor instead, how do I get that to run? I have a reverb g2, thru WMR. So, it seems whenever I start DCS, it immediately opens WMR and takes me VR. Do I need to just do that, go to settings and uncheck "use VR"(?). Then close and start again? Thanks.

Could have sworn this worked initially. But I fly almost exclusively the f16, so never really noticed. I'm sure I'm just missing a step somewhere, but I've tried to calibrate the Rx axis, but nothing. I'm in SimApp. Select the throttle. Takes me to test page. Everything responds to inputs except Rx. The Green light is lit with a short blue bar showing that some input is there, however it does change as I move throttle, nor does it turn off when I go to idle. Appreciate any thoughts here.

Voice Attack by itself is super cool and valuable even if only used in the simplest way.... which is what I do currently. I just started on VR and so now VoiceAttack is basically required. I just do things like say "Comms" and it hits the \ key for me. Then I say "F 5", and it presses the corresponding key for Ground Crew, for example. Obviously, not the same immersion potential as Vaicom, but it's totally fine for me.

DCS: F-4E - Episode IV - RADAR Pt. 1 - Basics and Theory
Keith Briscoe replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
I hate to admit (but I will) that this video made me at least slightly less likely purchase/fly the new Phantom. It's like all the details are here to make us realize we will mostly NOT be successful a) getting where we need to go; b) actually finding bad guys; c) deploying weapons that have a chance of hitting targets. On the other hand, if Jester is as good/well modeled as it seems, then I hope that can be a partial "Phantom for Dummies". -
Going to do this (VR) - appreciate help...

Re: quad view/foveated... I will try this. Buy, I just read/saw something that said this is less likely to be effective if I am CPU bound. When using only the in game dcs fps counter, I do see the msg CPU bound and in yellow and red at times. I'll pull up the openxr toolkit overlay to further check. -

Now I need to figure out how/if any amount of passthrough is possible. Certainly going to get my voice attack going again too. -
Ok, thx. Looks like 24h2 is expected in Sept-ish... I really wonder if somewhere, someone is developing a work-around for the G2 install base of users...
