  1. I may have found the cause. Someone asked about my wireless mouse.....maybe just a low battery. Just shoot me. Test it later. This makes sense since I ran DCS on a 'instant action' for 2 hours without an issue, but when I fired up FIWOS Mission two, I got a disconnect just as I was about to fire. That mission requires a good amount of MOUSE USE, while the other NONE. Looking forward to testing the theory later. Would be nice to have it working properly again. Thanks for all the input. Mike
  2. So I ran "Hardware and Device" trouble shooter from Terminal (Admin) msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnosis and that ran and just told me "windows updates are disabled" so I enabled it and let it run. No reboot so I did not think anything was 'fixed.' Fired up DCS and just went to "instant action", worked flawlessly for almost 2 hours. So decided to fire up the Campaign, Mission 2, FIWOS, ran normally, it even briefly showed my wingman on the data link briefly, or I thought it did 02 behind me, did not last, the data link stopped showing my wingman, and just as I was getting ready to drop a JDAM on the first SA8, bang, disconnected my controllers. Such a pain to trouble shoot. So tomorrow I am going to try mission 3, maybe mission 2 is fubar? I don't know. Mike
  3. HOT PLUG? I'll have to look for that. 4. Update. I installed at new 16 port USB hub. Plugged everything in to it, powered up each port, Booted the computer. Nothing disconnected. Started DCS to first New Screen, nothing disconnected. Moved on to DCS and nothing disconnected. Looked good. But when I started the plane in FIWOS it disconnected the controllers about half way through engine start up just after doing radio check. I disabled any power managment in Windows for the USB ports. This is very frustrating to debug. I usually don't "update" programs which are working, but DCS updates on its own. Now it's messed up. Oh well. Set up looks nice, just does not work. Mike
  5. Last night I Hooked it all up with the screens plugged into the three higher powered slots. Same issue. Disconnects while the game is loading and again during play. Suspecting motherboard dying?? I’ll see if new hub fixes it. If I rebuild system it will be &1200 for motherboard and CPU. The rest I hope to re use. Mike
  6. I've been running 3 MDF's, 3 USB panels, IPC, Takeoff Panel 2, Track IR headset emitter from a Xcellon 10-Port Powered USB 3.0 and it worked fine for several months. I had the Throttle, Joystick, Rudder Pedals and TrackIR receiver plugged into the back of the PC. I recently had the time to revisit DCS and ran into some issues after updating all the software. Particularly I started having may Disconnect/Reconnects after unplugging and updating each device and then plugging things back in in perhaps a different order. I think I got it back but they it's just basically failing. I suspect the USB hub is being over taxed and has Died. I ordered a 16 port hub yesterday. It's spec is max 7.5 amps, but each port can put out 2.4 amps. I think the older unit is limited to 900 mamps on 7 of the ten ports, so I probably was over taxing them, suspect with the USB displays. I probably should have had them on the three "Charging ports." So my question is......since winwingsim.com does not have that data listed, what is the expected amperage draw of each device??? Will the new hub, 90W Powered USB Hub - ACASIS 16 Ports USB 3.0 Data Port, provide enough power? I really want all the DCS devices plugged into the HUB so I don't have to crawl on the floor behind my setup any more to update a device in SimApPro since it requires only the keyboard and mouse and device you want to update plugged in. Yes I finally labeled all the friggen wires too. Thank you, Mike (I guess I'll find out when I hook everything back up.)
  7. Gunnar81 I reinstalled FIWOS and when I fired it up I was getting many frequent USB reconnects as the game came up. I had unplugged everything to do a firmware update last week on the three USB MDF1's and when I plugged everything back in, I changed the order I had it on originally in the USB powered hub. I changed it back to the order I think I had and it seemed to back to normal. There must be a proper best sequence of the USB items. I ran mission two again and the data link is not showing my wingman. I flew the mission. All the dialogues were correct and flight was correct. I could visually see the wingman behind me. Needless to say I could not target anything as I have forgotten the nuances to targeting and firing since I had not flown in months. The only thing not working is the data link. I can do List Enter and 1 and turn it on and off, it goes to Fine from Course but does not show the other planes. Perhaps I did something wrong, but before it was just On and Worked without me having to turn it on from the List Menu. It's just too frustrating to set up and actually use. Probably just move on to something like reading a book. Mike
  8. I have no mods....just DCS with latest updates, F16, Mustang, F18, and First In Weasels over Syria. It worked perfectly when I first installed it, I worked through the first two missions (several times each) to learn the weapons used and try my best to actually be able to target LOL. I had been away for a few months and just fired it up because it was raining out....anyway I did the latest DCS update, update for Voice attack, updates for TrackIR and did firm wear updates on my three MDF1's. Then ran the program and found the issues. Doing the DCS_updater.exe Repair fixed several issues with Mission 2 but not the Data Link. I'll work on it this weekend again. It's just frustrating because of how much I had forgetting about the weapon systems having gotten from "<profanity>ty" to "Half decent with it" months ago. And now a software issue. Mike
  9. Did DCS Repair and that got much of the particular issues resolved accept for the Data Link not showing my wingman. I think I'll remove the module and re install it next. Mike
  10. Update..... What I figured out..... 1. The radio presets are not working, I found that if I manually enter the frequency from the kneeboard data, I can get it to work, I was able to get all the proper dialogue up to steering point 3 when I bailed for dinner. 2. Data Link not working, I noticed it in flight so tried to turn it off and on again but I could not see my wingman 4. Switching main power on instead of just to Battery got me the first 'request engine start' prompt on the menu. So, do I need to just reinstall everything???? (other note, my modification to default Kneeboard position was reset with the DCS update, so have to redo that thing.) Mike
  11. Just kick myself for letting it update ANYTHING. Instructions say switch on power to BATTERY....but if I switch to Main POWER I got the F10 menu prompt for request startup. The com not working properly "hit space bar to continue." Why did I let it update. Now the game is basically FUBAR. Mike
  12. Just fired up my gaming computer for first time in MONTHS. Updated everything. Fired up DCS and restarted Mission 2. It's acting wonky. I'll have to try again tomorrow. When I open the com menu, then F10 I only get F1 Immortal all, or Prior Menu or Exit. No Ground.......oddd Mike
  13. Sorry, I have been away from DCS for months. Too many projects too little time. The Winter is Game time for me. Anyway, I found a link somewhere here about the ViewPortHandling and at this moment I don't recall the specifics. But there is a config file that positions things, and you can change the settings under the heading Viewporthandling to move the starting point of the kneeboard. I will have to look it up again, but there is a thread on this forum about it. Mike
  14. LOL, wish I had time to play DCS.....friggen work.....on-call too often.......raining today, but on-call so if I even turn on my gaming rig the ER will call. And too wet to get the kids to run the YWS and mow. I did spend time doing the DLC where you turn over the huge pile of mulch with the tractor last week. I tried the Burn The <profanity> add on but the limbs are too wet, went with Take the <profanity> to the Dump mod. Required put the trailer on the minivan update. My back hurts. Mike
  15. Got up at 6, started up the smoker, put pork butt on, fired up the power washer, washed two cars, dried, dragged power washer hose to deck, washed the deck. Smoke on hour 8 at 225, up to 184 degrees. Low and Slow. LOL. This is a realistic simulation. LOL. nullMikenull
  16. I've been running this yard work simulator. It's very realistic, and I actually ache after playing if for several hours. But my yard looks good. Playing the new mission, "Weasels open the pool" tomorrow. DCS on the back burner now that the weather is Outdoor time. I limit my flying to the Boxster. Mike
  17. I just edited the Viewporthandling file and that did the trick. So far seems ok. Using Voiceattack to do this is also a very interesting idea. I added some commands (like "Eject Eject Eject" and "Next page" and "Previous Page"). Mike
  18. got it edited viewporthandiing.iua. done.
  19. Maxsenna, I have voice attack. what would be the command format? Thank you, Mike
  20. I was not sure where to post this question. I have the MDF displays so when I open the Knee Board it is huge and goes across the main screen down onto the MDF screen. I just adjust it each time. But just curious is there is a setting in the config file where you can specify the size and location of the kneeboard? Mike
  21. agree, over dramatized, but still entertaining. I like Big Bang Theory also LOL. Mike
  22. Slippa, What Mac are you running DCS on? Parrallels or Bootcamp or other? What kind of frame rates do you get? I was going to try it on my MacBook pro 16 in, M1 max ... Mike
  23. Thanks, I also have an external USB powered HUB, but my Stick, throttle and pedals are plugged into the back of the PC directly. I'll just have to keep an eye on it. Mike
  24. Every once in a while I get a USB disconnect warning, and my stuff disconnects, of course this causes the plane to shut down, mid mission which is a bummer, but after a few seconds the controls are all back up, and I actually was able to restart the plane without crashing LOL. Is this a known issue? Or my <profanity>ty computer? Mike
