  1. Many of my clients like to buy, sight unseen, from e-bay. Often they’ll later find they've paid a little more than the current market suggests for an item. A few have even asked if I will discount my repair price to compensate them for their purchasing loss . . . I will ask them the following questions . . . "Do you like to go clubbing?" ["Yes"] "What did you spend last weekend?" [$180.00] "Did you get a number?" [What?] "Did you get a number?" [If you mean a Girls number than, No] "So, all you got for $180.00 was a hangover and no telephone number right?" [Well, yes . . . what is your point?] "My point is you’ve pissed away $180" [Okay] "Now you want me to compensate you for paying $50.00 more from e-bay than another might have paid . . . right?" "Was not the loss of $180 an even larger loss?" [No, not really, at least I got to listen to a good band and had a few drinks] "Are you too going to ask the club for a refund?" [Why would I do that?] EXACTLY!!! Listen, I too am a bit annoyed that some F-15E issues have not been addressed and certainly sad to see a drift with RAZBAM however, hammering EA will not move the issue any quicker. Yes, $79.95 is not a small sum for any of us. I get it, but after all there might be bigger fish to fry out there. I assure you that good things are yet to come . . . Be patient . . . Fly this beautiful bird . . . It's not perfect but it's a whole lot of fun. ~Fin~ Who's this dork you might asking? Just someone who likes to fly for the sake of Flying and the F-15E, with all its short-comings is still a lot more fun than the F-15C. -Circulus in Probando
  2. In VR I have the same issue. Extreme FPS loss while looking at my instrument panel, you could say while looking down however, it appears mostly while interacting with the flight panel. For me, the problem began with the AH-64 and the F-15E upon their release, day one of each. Only these two modules are affected. I will drop from 65-72 FPS to 1-2 FPS and finaly DCS locks-up. It does not crash. If I [Alt-Tab] or [F10] for a moment the issue dissipates long enough to land or exit the sim. It matters not where I am located nor the density of the surrounding objects and altitude. Lowering my settings to the default VR option helps a little with the F-15E but the Apache still stutters a bit. With all other aircraft I can run the same settings in VR as I do in screen-mode (maxed) without any issues other than a little drop in the more densely populated areas.
  3. It took 17 minutes to die . . . and 40 minutes to crash from 1200 ft
  4. Thank you for the feedback. I will try to list all the options contained in subsequest posts . . . It is in its way more robust than other utilities. I do my monitor shopping on Monday nights . . . Dumpster Diving!
  5. I agree about the business of the screen . . . My original idea was to use more-or-less military colors. I got bored with the plain image background and created the ability to use my screenshots, the buttons were however even harder to distinguish with the ever changing colors of the background. Hence the colors. They are changeable to suit the desire of the user and a plain interface with perhaps 7 theme options seemed rather dull. The way I use this is to place it on a second monitor in full-screen mode. The buttons all get pushed to the edge and are less intrusive visually. I can freely move my mouse to the other desktop without closing DCS or changing its focus. In many cases this allows me to note the current config while in DCS and make changes before restarting. Otherwise I have to close DCS and note the changes before making them. The Udater Utility is more a novice oriented application however, if you know how to edit the configs, this is a lot easier. I can't easily convey the functions that are in the menus. I am focused OS configuration as well as DCS addons. Not having to find apps and constantly close out and resart. I've also noted others and my own confusion when it comes to the options.lua and which to use. For me, the nice thing is not having to keep finding app folders and icons. Once opened, I never have to close the app to make any changes. This is priceless to me . . . Thanks for the feedback!
  6. Hello all, Mgone here. As some of you know from previous posts, I love DCS, its international users. I also have a lot of time on my hands . . . I got tired of making configuration changes by having to Alt-Tab or endlessly opening desktop folders to find my applications icons etc. I decided to create what I call "DCS Flight Panel. I have been working on this for a while now and have had to wait until there was some commonality, amongst developers. For instance, DCS adopting OpenXR. Renaming dlls and the like got old. I still change dxgi.dll to enable/disable reshade in the local file for I never got reshade-global to work in DCS. Here I am completely self-contained. I can open the Panel and never once go to the desktop to launch programs. Here, I have access to all installed plugins, mods, configuration panels and basic system functions. I very much enjoy the "DCS Update Utility" however, once you've become familiar with all the .lua configuration files, I find it easier to just open the files and edit them manually rather than relying on the other utilities to make changes. Often the changes have give you unexpected results. What I like most is this . . . I never have to Alt-Tab or close DCS to check something or make changes as long as they do not interfere with the current running DCS. The panel right now reflects my installation and configuration only. I would like to expand on this to cover other's hardware and applications so that I might offer it to other DCS users. One issue that I am working on is a system-wide scan of installed programs to create the variables for pointing to individual user installation folders. Once I figure this out, I will only have to pass the variable rather than hard-encode the program's installation folder. You can get an idea of the types of items included . . . I've even added the ability to use my screenshots. I am looking for a little feedback . . . What do you think?
  7. I had the same issue . . . However, I was in VR when I noticed it. I quit and re-launched in screen mode where, though it was still as in your image (unselectable), I was now able to change it and run VR again. The options stuck . . .
  8. Thank you . . . I just had to say something?
  9. Servers can be non-responsive for any number of reasons, some I've listed below: 1) Servers get over-worked and go down periodically when thousands of connection are established (No really, this can really happen) 2) Any one of ten thousand routers, servers, switches that connect to a file server or database can also fail. 3) Any disruption with an ISP can also prevent the server from reaching you and you reaching them. DCS has an ISP too! 4) Most often though, the reason is this, they know who you are and just want to mess with you personally. People, for heaven's sake . . . the servers have served us with very few interruptions for many years now. Give the team a break and stop telling them what they already know . . . Stop with the threats. . . one day in a life-time without DCS is not the end of the world. (Perhaps I should reconsider that last statement though) If DCS were to go down for a week, I'll go ride a bike. Remember this . . . Even you have a MTBF!
  10. I'm experiencing the same on Pimax 8KX. . . I did find however that, I can toggle to a side view, hold my head steady and toggle back to default view. The problem corrects itself.
  11. Under speed warning (too low a throttle setting) to lower your landing gear or flaps?
  12. That was easy enough, I'd forgotten that is was installed. Thank you!
  13. Just installed BS3, Uh... I have two cyclic control sticks? I haven't installed any mods.
  14. Here it is ... I am only using the "Dxgi.ll" 3,777KB file from this package. The "D3DCompiler_47.dll" and "openvr_api.dll" are provided by the latest OpenXR and OpenComposite. I did nothing fancy to make it work . . . Just when everything was installed I dropped ReShade into the folder. Hope it works for you! ReshadeVR_4.9.1 Unofficial.rar
  15. Thanks for posting that link . . . Had downloaded many versions to try. The particular one I am using was not downloaded from there. My unofficial version contains the the older flavor of Dxgi.dll, not the current ReShade64. I run it locally. I also found that I can rename "Dxgi.dll" to "ReShade64.dll" and dump into the global folder and it works there as well, except other apps don't like this version in combination. My file's internal description reads: File version - 4.9.1.82 Prod Version - 4.9.1 Unofficial The version in your link reads: File version - 4.9.1.1003 Prod Version - 4.91
  16. Been looking to get ReShade and OpenXR to play nice together or a long time. Always errored out, as others have describe. This morning I tried an older ReShade 4.9.1 Unofficial version and it all works . . . I'm using the following: OpenXR 1.2.2 OpenComposite 1.0.0.0 Pimax 0.2.8 Pimax Client V1.6.0.21 Rehade 4.9.1 Unofficial If this is redundant or old news to others, than pardon me. I am just so happy that my 8KX now looks this much better.
  17. Well, that seems to work . . . I will have to play around with it a bit. If I open the menu in flight and close out, the screen becomes liquidy and distorted. Alt_Tab out and back again clears the liquid behavior but, the screen becomes jittery and stutters like having the wrong resolution. May in fact just go back to using Reshade for I am only looking for the color benefits. I have not suffered with image clarity nor FPS like the rest of the world seems to be. Thank you for you input... Big Help it was. Nothing is ever simple now is it.
  18. Hey there, thanks for responding, To make OpenXR Toolkit work the first place, my read and understanding was to in install OCXR_WMR_ACC currently v0.6.3 which contains the following: OBS pugin Folder D3DCompiler_47.dll opencomposite.ini openvr_api.dll That last file, openvr_api.dll, gets over-written by DCS during clean/repair anyway with the original file. The original being 584 KB in sized and the patched being 1.35 MB. The suggestion to clean/repair is also instructed while updating versions. These are the files to which I refer to as having removed. The second instruction is to uninstall OpenXR Toolkit v1.1.2 and then run the v1.1.3 msi installer. To which I did and subsequently all I have done. Reverting back to 1.1.2 works just fine. Also, the "OBS pugin" folder is packed as "OBS pugin" not, "OBS plugin"
  19. Ver 1.1.2 has been working very well . . . I am impressed with the visual results! Prior to updating, I removed all files that I am aware which need removal and installed 1.1.3. WMR Portal now throws up a blue dialog box with the following message: "the app slate because the current immersive app doesn't. to use an app slate, return to your mixed reality home first support using app slate with it" Uh . . . The app slate does what because what doesn't? . . . This is a rather ambiguous . . . for me at least? Not familiar with this type of message . . . Any one seen this before?
  20. Very impressive, nicely done! Thank you for this . . . been enjoying for several hours now.
  21. Thank you BitMaster . . . Life is a wonderful gift to us all . . . and always worth the fight!
  22. I cannot say for sure what maybe the issue for what your currently experiencing however, I can say this: Memory management within windows, though has gotten better over the years is not the greatest. It is not so much a result of window but with coding. Think of it this way; When a given program loads, it looks for unused blocks of memory to reside. Running any addition application, can inadvertantly write over a block or portion of a block, even windows itself can do this. When current application in use is brought again to the foreground, the data may have been overwritten and the application crashes. It does not matter what application/s are currently running . . . this can be the result for many. Browsers, antivirus, power managers, background print managers or, really anything running in the background in any number of combinations when brought forward can stomp on and over write a memory-block currently in use by other threads. Try stopping any unnecessary apps and services which are not immediately required and try again. Many are often misled by the assumption that it is the current running application i.e, DCS that is culprit I can tell you more often it is not. No application developer can compensate or second guess bad coding by another developer nor are they even remote aware of which others might be installed or how nicely they my play together. Developers cannot test every possible combination of apps or configuration of the user. I have a dedicated machine which only runs DCS and X-Plane and only applications pertaining to the two. I have a main install folder with all the bells and whistles for each app, and a second installation for testing new devices, drivers, modules or mods? I currently only experience issues from my own mistakes.
  23. We survive only to fight again . . . And yes, patience is a virtue. I would like to see how'd they handle a 486 @ 50MHZ flying Jane's Longbow . . . ~snicker,snicker~ Lot of talent out there . . .
  24. Thank you Sir! Wishing I'd not mentioned my personal issues, for it was really about all of you here in DCS. As for next year, I have many things to do to catch up . . . My biggest desire is however is to deflect some lead in my AH-64D.
  25. Nor the Flight!
