Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar Vs. CH Fighterstick
LawnDart replied to GuntiNDDS's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Maybe our constant banter telling them they aren't "plugged in" to the community enough finally sunk in. :smilewink: -
In our agreement, we (the VTB, LLC) own all rights to the Thunderbird variant(s) of this model. Malignant is free to do whatever he wants with other variants of the model and/or block #'s. I'm sure he has something up his sleeve... ...but I'll let him answer that whenever the time is right! :smilewink: EDIT: Mali and I posted at the same time... see his answer above.

Repost from this/original thread: Virtual Thunderbirds Announce New 3D Model The Virtual Thunderbirds, LLC are proud to announce that we have partnered with Sjoerd Pijper (a.k.a. Malignant), as our official 3D modeler, to produce a new 3D model of the Block 52 F-16C/D. There have been countless new 3D models created over the course of the last year for Lock On: Flaming Cliffs, but many of these have been based off of models that were commercially available “off the shelf”. What sets our new model apart from many available today is that it was modeled by Sjoerd from scratch. Every detail of our new Block 52 F-16 has been faithfully recreated in painstaking detail using photographs from our own extensive hi-res photo archive, in addition to large amounts of research and quality assurance provided by the Virtual Thunderbirds throughout the process. Everything from the landing gear, to the HOTAS, to the stopwatch mounted on the HUD, not to mention the smoke plumbing system has been modeled from scratch. Sjoerd has put countless man hours into providing us with the best possible 3D model to showcase our skills as a virtual formation aerobatic team. We are proud of Sjoerd's beautiful model and grateful for all of his hard work. We would also like to acknowledge the work of Bob “Kato” Tyler of the Virtual Blue Angels. Kato put in many long hours to help our team with the creation of a new mod package so that we could get our shiny new model into Lock On. For years Kato has been widely known in the Lock On community for his mod building skills. Not only has he built mods for the Virtual Blue Angels, Kato built mods for VFAT each year which enabled the performing teams as well as spectators to view VFAT in its entirety without having to uninstall and re-install a different mod for each performance. Kato is the only person we know of who could have completed our mod in the short period of time available before VFAT. The work was literally done in a period of weeks, not months. Completing our mod in time for VFAT 2008 required a Herculean effort on Kato’s part. Kato worked nights, while out of the country on business, and missed a lot of sleep to build our mod on an extremely truncated timeframe. His attention to detail, professionalism and dedication to this project is the stuff legends are made of. For that, the Virtual Thunderbirds, LLC offer our most sincere and humble thanks. Our new model and mod were premiered by the team at VFAT 2008. If you watched our live show or had a chance to see the streaming replay, the jets you saw were the result of Sjoerd Pijper, and Bob “Kato” Tyler's work, along with many hours of careful coordination and quality assurance provided by the Virtual Thunderbirds. Although we have a flyable mod, it is still an early “Beta” build with much work remaining before creating a “Final” build of the mod. There is no scheduled release date at this time. Without further ado, we hereby present Sjoerd Pijper’s F-16C Block 52, 3DS Max model, property of the Virtual Thunderbirds, LLC. Click on the image to download a 1920x1200 wallpaper-sized render. Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams 2008
LawnDart replied to Frazer's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thank you for your kind words Shepski! I'm glad, as are the guys and gal on our team that our spectators, such as yourself, appreciate the attention to detail we put into our show. As far as VFAT goes, we (the VFAT staff) tried hard this year to get dedicated cameramen for each team. The next step is for each team (and it has to be the team itself) to take their time and train their cameraman to know the show, and what views to use etc. Just as in real life, many maneuvers are based on "optics" to look correct from a certain angle... it helps when the cameraman knows these "tricks". That's the tip of the iceberg, as you can tell - it requires more than a few hours of preparations! Once again, thanks for your comments. We're (VFAT staff) is already looking forward to making VFAT 2009 better than ever! It's a learning process with everything from show standards, design, technical issues, logistics and planning involved and quite amazing that we're able to do this as a world wide LIVE event! -

Thanks to all the people involved for another great year and making VFAT 2008 spectacular! Streaming replays of the performances should be available this week on www.virtual-airshows.com I believe, and AFAIK the VBA are "re-streaming" their demo on Wednesday evening after experiencing technical difficulties Sunday. Check out the all the replays directly online in your own time! ;) Most replays should be available within a few days to a week or so... Replays are located here: http://www.virtual-airshows.com/english/vfat2008/showtime-2008 -

Thanks Frazer!!! Without you, in particular, this event wouldn't be possible. -
Hawg, got somethin' for ya in your PM's.
-
Hawg, check your PMs again! :smilewink: :music_whistling:

Rain began as the show ended. A little weather avoidance needed setting up for the final two maneuvers from show left (off the departure end of 3L/R), but otherwise a full High Show. Good end to the Thunderbirds season.

Dave, check your PMs. And congrats on making the SIMMOD team!

Creative Fatal1ty Pro Series Gaming Headset I know the Creative site says out of stock right now, but you can find it through Google, Amazon etc. no prob. Best one I've had, and I've had many before... The TIR clip attaches perfectly to the side too!

Sounds like the known shader problem with nVidia cards. Lower your shadows to "all planar" and see if that does the trick.
-
Did you follow any readme instructions to add a few lines to the graphics.cfg as well? (Some mods need this and will say in the readme if so). Also, I know people who have downloaded mods and the downloads finished early (i.e. they only got 130 megs of 194), but thinking that they had the entire file and tried to install it with ModMan. (It will let you). Obviously that didn't work and they ended up with lots of missing textures. That could be the case, so check and make sure your mod(s) have the "advertised" filesize before installing. Lastly, remove all mods and start over step by step and see at what point (and which mod) the problem occurs.

Yes, the Sep 27 track has an error (won't unzip). I'm guessing why you think the Sep 27 track is better ("big bang")......... :fear: The line abreast barrel roll was impressive! Overall a nice show! -

Movie-making question for "The Man" (Glowing Amraam)
LawnDart replied to cobrabase's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
For all my movies I've always Frapped at 1/2 or even 1/4 speed playback in LockOn (Alt-A). Then, using your movie editing software of choice, speed up the playback rate by a factor of 2 for half-speed captures and by 4 for quarter-speed captures, if you want it to playback in real time. It effectively doubles, or quadroples your framerates allowing each rendered frame to be smooth as glass. -
Anyone know why Grandsurf´s Airbase Mod only works in summer season? Is there a fix to make it work in automn, winter and spring?

Don't quote me, but I think the difference from medium and up is it adds reflective clouds and shadows etc. Other than that it looks the same, but adding those features obviously tax the system a lot!
