Exactly! For live shows our Solo (Whack) flies the 8-Point Roll about twice as slow as it should be just to avoid wing rocks. The 8-Point Roll is best described (in that case) as a Slow Roll with 8 hesitation stops along the way. Very mellow! There are also less wing rocks, (or "lag rocks") if you avoid any aggressive counter inputs on the controls for every hesitation roll. These are the kind of things only virtual aerobatic pilots have to consider! :smilewink:

Great news for 2010!!! Looking forward to it already.

Interested in joining an aerobatic team
LawnDart replied to thaFunkster's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
:megalol: Reminds me of the question people always ask at air shows: "You guys just synch your plane up to the Boss' jet and let him control all of them, right?" -'Boy, would that make things easier! -
What? Let me Google that for you! :music_whistling::smilewink: (You can download DirectX from Microsoft's website. You can download the latest set of video drivers from the manufacturer's website (Nvidia, ATI etc.). Install those and try again!)

Where to Buy LockOn AND Flaming Cliffs?
LawnDart replied to LawnDart's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
That's good news! Anyone know if there is a difference between european copies of the sim and north american? I'm assuming the e-shop would sell a european ver since the site is .uk That is, if there is a difference (other than just the box art)? -
Just updated the original post with new links "Where to Buy". Hope this helps!

Where to Buy LockOn AND Flaming Cliffs?
LawnDart replied to LawnDart's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I didn't know about the E-shop. So, you can now order both LOMAC and FC directly from Eagle Dynamics on disc? -
It seems it's getting increasingly hard to find copies of LOMAC or LOCK ON: GOLD! Does anyone know where to point new people who want to buy the sim??? I can't seem to find hardly any copies of the sim anymore, and it's frustrating for new pilots who want the sim, but can't find it anywhere (aside from the FC download that also requires LOMAC). Anyone know of places to buy (that aren't "Out of Stock")?

Announcing Tryouts The Virtual Thunderbirds are looking for a few skilled and dedicated team players to join the squad. The opportunity for being selected to the team has probably never been better than right now, as we're looking to fill multiple positions ranging from (potentially flying) the demo team, as well as supporting roles and pilot positions. To tryout NOW for the Virtual Thunderbirds, submit your app by following these instructions: Becoming a Virtual Thunderbird New Lineup 2009 has been a rough year for us, probably the toughest year we've had in our five years of flying the friendly skies. The team was essentially grounded for the first five months of the year after several of our pilots suffered drastic life changes including work, real world training events, car accidents, health complications and family issues. As they say, real life happens! To top things off, both our former Leader, Rock, and Slot pilot, Burner, decided to part ways and leave the team late spring, which left us without a No. 1 and No. 4 while everyone else was just starting to get their lives back in order again. Since early summer, we've not only rebuilt the core of the team, but also finished up all the changes for the 2009 air demonstration and its documentation to fly the show even faster, tighter and more precise than we've ever done before. While some of our members remain in their previous positions the most noticeable change is a new Leader, Lead Solo and Opposing Solo. For the second time, but first time in almost four years, I (Lawndart) will take over as the new Commander / Leader of the team. Although I'm already familiar with the demo and have been flying the new show profile for the past couple of months, things couldn't be more different than the first time I led this team in 2005. Back then we pioneered almost everything we did. There were no blueprints to follow, no collection of all training materials that we have today, and the technology available was not as advanced. Today, our show is very tightly choreographed with an extensive library of SOPs and training has become very streamlined, while at the same time many of the short comings in the sim have been addressed through patches, faster computers and graphics as well as broadband. In the end, it allows us to train, fly and perform a much faster, tighter and precise show than before and that's what I intend to do for my seconds tenure as the Leader. Let's not forget, the team is also getting a Solo pilot as their Leader... On that note, I'm peeling off my No. 5 and handing it over to Whack. He's now "the only man with a license to come up initial up-side-down with smoke coming out the back of his plane... showing off bigger than Dallas!" ...which just happens to be where he lives! I'd also like to introduce Panther as our new No. 6. She has been flying my old profile as Right Solo in for the past few months and I'm happy to say, will continue a great tradition started five years ago, of having exceptional Solo pilots on the team. She's also our first female pilot to officially join the demo team. Our 2009 Virtual Thunderbirds roster has been updated, but we are still seeking new pilots for this season and onward, and I'd like to invite anyone interested in joining to tryout for the team.

Don't see too many players using sniper rifles anymore. There's always a few depending on the map, but in general the maps of CoD4 weren't as big as previous versions. I don't mind any of it, not even the shooting through walls that goes on, but you shouldn't get a "hit indicator" when you randomly shoot someone through a wall! Too many players fire aimlessly and when they see the "hit indicator" (X - crosshair) change, they stop and spray that wall, not having ever seen the enemy and subsequently kill them. Very annoying! If they only took out the "hit indicator/crosshair", that would fix a lot! Great game though! Very few games that have continuously gotten better with each release despite the first one being a block buster too!

Imagine if they did away with that... Aaaahhh!!! Hopefully Punkbuster won't screw up this time around and cause all that lag that showed up after the 1.7 patch + newest PB release of CoD4. That nearly ruined CoD4 MP...

I saw that video right when it came out and had to laugh... NVG's!!! For $149 you'd have to wonder how bad (cheap) they are. For someone who's tried military ones, I can't help but laugh at it. I am, however, looking forward to MW2 (CoD6) a ton! It will be the game of the year...!!!

Hey, that's really all we need...! Hangars, towers, taxiway, runways, ramps, parking areas need a lot of work as it's very crude in the current version of Nellis AFB. If we had Nellis completely built up and looking good, I'd be happy with the Nevada Terrain "as is"! As much as everyone wants the Vegas strip, you can always go play around in FSX for that IMHO. I'd rather see Nellis & Creech AFB detailed with structures and better looking asphalt. The Hoover Dam would be cool too... -
Photo Op with the Diamond taking a spin over Hawg's Nevada Terrain These are not photoshopped. It really looks this good in-game. Performing looping maneuvers up to 25,000 feet where the air is thin and the sky starts getting dark is not only sporty, but lots of fun! What a view... 8)

Thank you and everyone else too! The flying was live, the narration was live (and remastered in higher quality), and the live video editing was done live by Panther, and later edited by Gunner in the video, although most of the footage was kept the same exactly as it happened in the live stream. That's the beauty of it... it's all real time. Thanks for watching! :)
