  1. With 9 computers in your home it can be done now! :smilewink: But what's the fun in that? I'd rather waste much precious time of my life and frustration trying to do it with 8 other people online in real time!
  2. I agree!!! A built in ghost/phantom would be awesome, not only for formation flying, but as GA said; movie making, illustrating tactics for rookie pilots etc. etc. etc. All around it would be one of the best training tools for every facet of the sim... Phantom is great now, but a little difficult to setup without carefully reading the instructions. Having it built in and able to run from one computer as SP/client and/or MP host would be much welcomed.
  3. I don't have the high res uploaded anywhere, but I'll be happy to email them. Send me a msg re: BR screenshots to: ld (at) virtualthunderbirds.com I think Frazer said tracks will be posted as soon as they select which one of theirs had least lag and looked the best. Movies... I'll leave that to the pro's! :smilewink:
  4. Another amazing display. 4 shows in two days is impressive and you dealt with the issues when needed to seamlessly. As always a few things here and there, but overall you made us all proud to watch! :) :) :) ~S! Here are some of the new passes for the day, and big thumbs up for adapting on the 5-ship Box formation!

  6. @Bekuts, great show!!! Beautiful maneuvers, coreography and execution... only thing IMHO the show was missing was some "punch" (i.e. quicker turnarounds, rejoins etc.). Having said that, these screenshots doesn't do the flying justice. You guys did an amazing job! :D P.S. I have these in high res if anyone wants them. ;) (Also, if someone can translate... I don't speak Russian).

  8. Good first topic on IFF guys! :) Identify Friend Or Foe in Lockon
  9. Good job TEX! 720p  Nice editing  ============ Two thumbs up! :smilewink:
  10. Singleplayer... what is that??? ;) Been so long since I flew SP, I even forgot the sim offers it...:megalol:
  11. Looking forward to it! :) Where will the tracks be provided afterwards? Ssounds like there's a good chance many ppl won't be able to connect with only 30 slots - besides the tracks from the server are usually better (if you have high pings to begin with.
  12. All new series Sundays at 10 E/P on the Military Channel. I just watched my first episode tonight with host Major Paul "Max" Moga, the first F-22A demonstration pilot. This show reminds me of the series called Dogfights, except Max is a really good and cool 8) host. It also talks a lot about the man and the machine and how these pilots used their plane's advantages or sometimes disadvantages in their favor. Some really nice "inside the cockpit" parts too with Max sitting down in these old warbirds! I've added Showdown to my DVR-list! :D Here's a preview:
  13. Good follow-up BRD! IDK if you're signed up on our forums, but if you don't mind maybe just copying what you just said here to this thread: http://www.virtualthunderbirds.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2472 I kind of figured NaturalPoint wasn't selling FC anymore, but wasn't sure. Also, your links will help people from other parts of the world get FC and the correct patches. Thanks! :)
  14. Just put this together at the VTB forums with the help of S77th-KonKuSSioN's tips (Thanks bud!). Also, be sure to check the VTB Mother of all Stickies thread for a great deal of resources for flight simming! Cheers! -LD Install your original Lock On via your CD. Depending on what LOMAC you buy this will install a version UP TO 1.02. Whether you have version 1.00, 1.01 or 1.02, doesn't matter and depends on when the disc was manufactured. This is fine - let's move on. Immediately apply the Flaming Cliffs add-on (version 1.1) before doing anything else. Installing the Flaming Cliffs add-on means you do NOT need to install any patch(s) numbered 1.01 or 1.02. Flaming Cliffs supercedes both these patches and will upgrade your copy to 1.1. Now patch LOFC (Lock On: Flaming Cliffs) directly to the very latest version. (At time of writing that is 1.12b). You DO NOT need install each interim patch for Flaming Cliffs - 1.11, 1.12a... Just go straight to patch 1.12b! ***There are a two types of 1.12b patch versions. One type is for those who downloaded FC, and the other type is for those who bought the FC add-on on a separate CD. (Disc from GoGamer, Naturalpoint, or included in Lock On: GOLD). BE SURE you are installing the correct version for your game. The two different patches are called CD and Web version. Double check that you are downloading the correct version of the patch for your copy of FC before installing it! Installing the wrong type will render your copy of the sim unusable. Visit www.lockon.ru for the latest fixes & patches. Once you have installed all the above, you can add mods by using ModMan. Version history 1.0: LOMAC (Lock On: Modern Air Combat): The original game developed by Eagle Dynamics and published by Ubisoft. 1.01: LOMAC free patch. 1.02: LOMAC free patch (this is where Ubisoft leaves the picture as publisher). 1.1: LOFC (Lock On: Flaming Cliffs): payware add-on & patch independently released by Eagle Dynamics (the developers of all LOMAC versions & patches). Features a HUGE number of fixes for existing users of the sim and a new flyable aircraft - the SU-25T Frogfoot with an advanced flight model (AFM). Can be purchased by download, or CD, or in an Ubisoft-sponsored project called "Lock On GOLD". NOTE: The initial copies of Lock On Gold had significant errors on one of the discs in the box and replacements were needed. Since Windows Vista was released this add-on & patch is called 1.1b. 1.11: LOFC free patch. This is where ED introduces two versions of the same patch; one for the Web version and one for CD owners of FC. Select your type. 1.12a: LOFC free patch. Released prior to Windows Vista and therefore only has Windows XP support. 1.12b: LOFC free patch. Adds Windows Vista (and XP) support. Same patch as the "a" version, but works on either OS. 1.13: To be announced. . . ? Q: Where can I buy "Lock On: Modern Air Combat"? A: Since its release late 2003, it has become more and more difficult to find a copy of the sim in stores. Mainly due to Ubisoft leaving the picture as publisher and discontinuing production/support for their product after version 1.02. Your best bet is searching Amazon, or eBay, (click links to perform a search) or look for a copy of Ultimate Flight Collection @ GoGamer.com (includes LOMAC, IL2 and Pacific Fighters). You can also buy LOMAC from Eagle Dynamics E-shop. Q: How do I buy "Flaming Cliffs"? A: You can download a copy directly from Eagle Dynamics and pay for an activation code online. This is known as the Web version of FC and uses StarForce activation. The second option is buying a "Flaming Cliffs" CD from GoGamer.com or search eBay, Amazon, Buy.com etc. You can also buy FC on disc from Eagle Dynamics E-shop. The CD version of FC uses StarForce disc check copy protection instead of an activation code. Q: Is there a bundle with both LOMAC and FC? A: Yes, the final (and possibly best) solution is to find a Lock On: GOLD copy containing both the LOMAC CD and the Flaming Cliffs CD. Unfortunately, there aren't as many copies around anymore.
  15. Yea, we get 160 fps ++ on our dedicated by using F10 and zoomed in. Server runs smooth! And yes, all these settings mentioned are for a dedicated only server. If you use your puter to host & fly, you'd have to set it up to something that works for everyone (incl. your own visuals). :smilewink:
  16. To follow what 77_konk said, you can use F10 view and zoom ALL THE WAY IN over an area of water for constantly high fps instead of pointing the view skyward! Other than that we (VTB) use the same settings for our ded server as 77_konk already mentioned.
  17. A little too much use of the same views for 36 minutes, but great way to re-live the performance from VFAT 2007! :) Well done!
  18. Anyone know how to adjust the zoom speed for external views? Is there a value somewhere in a .lua file that can be added/tweaked?
  19. Very nice promo SKF!
  20. The "A"-side is your AoA tape or Angle of Attack, and it shows up when the landing gear is lowered. The "B"-side is your radar altimeter and it is inhibited above ~1,000 feet AGL (reverts to barometric/MSL altitude at that point), but anytime you're at an altitude of less than 1,000 feet it appears on your HUD. The HUD symbology is in feet. In this case (pic above) your AoA is 5 degrees and your AGL (above terrain) altitude is approx 90' feet. The number 1 on the "B"-side represents 100', 2 - 200' etc... There's a Flaming Cliffs .pdf manual in your "docs" folder under the main LockOn directory that explains all the HUD, RWR, radar symbology etc. :smilewink:
  21. Thanks Kon! I added two of your forum pages to our MOTHER OF ALL STICKIES.
  22. Is there a sticky somewhere with installation instructions for new comers to this sim that I'm just overlooking? I'm asking because, quite often a new guy pops in to our boards and asks: What sim is this? Where do I get it? Which patches do I need? ...and ultimately gets confused due to the various "types" of add-ons (Flaming Cliff CD, Web) etc. and then installs the "wrong" patch for the type of version he has and so on... Seeing as there are a few different versions; CD, web download, Gold and then all these patch(es) for each specific type of add-on... is there a sticky somewhere that can guide a newbie through a complete installation up to the latest patch, regardless if they own/buy LOFC CD, LOFC Web or LockOn Gold? (If there isn't, someone should make one and stick it to the top of this forum!!!). :smilewink: Thanks!
  23. Awesome trailer GA!
  24. Falcon "1.0"! My dad had Flight Simulator 1 (!) and 2, but the first one that I really remember falling in love with was Falcon... the original!!! Around the same time, I also remember getting Flight Simulator 3 which was my first real venture to becoming a real life civilian pilot; although, Falcon was the best game ever! At the time, back in a day when most people hardly had home computers, my dad had a network at home (he worked as a network administrator/software developer - still does in fact) and me and my best friend flew 1-on-1's as early as 1987, on four color CGA graphics in the original Falcon. That's also my first exposure to formation flying! Despite the way the graphics appear by today's standards, I still think it looks awesome and at the time, even having a "color" monitor was considered unusual! That game changed my life... literally! I honestly don't know if I would have pursued my dreams if it hadn't been for that summer day back in 1987 when me and my dad went to "Egghead" (a computer store at the time) and we found a copy of Falcon, of course not knowing what its legacy would be decades later... (I still have the game in its original box exactly as seen below at home - even the stickers on the box are the same). :D If I have to pick a few to comment on, here goes: This is the first real memory I have of falling in love with any computer game!!! The year was 1987 and we flew formation and dogfights on my dad's LAN (very unusual at the time). I was ten years old when, to my mom's great despair, I became a computer addict at the ripe age of ten! (By 80's standards almost unheard of). :P A year later, I also remember this game distinctly. Mostly for its purple box and the manual(s) you used to get back in the early days. Each box would weigh a minimum of 5 lbs... That kind of "bathroom reading" is definitely hard to come by nowadays! ...I wish it wasn't. Btw, this fictional F-19 jet looks an awful lot like the jets in the movie "Stealth" doesn't it! Having owned every Falcon title ever released - when Falcon 3.0 first came out in 1991 it raised the bar far beyond anything seen before... and of course the manuals and training was second to none too. Spent at least a week in the bathroom for this one alone! I still have every add-on and book in their original boxes for the Falcon 3.0 series. While the game is outdated, the manuals are still kick-@ss! ;) A bonus with Falcon 3.0; anyone remember this book? I still have it stashed away somewhere at my mom's place. Very good book on ACM, BFM and energy management without being too hard to digest. Heck, I was learning this as a 13-year old at the time and thought nothing of it. :) We found MigMan's Flight Simulator Museum site a while back and have a link posted somewhere in the private forums. What impresses me (and scares me at the same time) is that I have either owned and/or played about half of all the titles listed dating back to the mid 80's. There are so many fond memories of games and their manuals I can't count them! Talk about a nostalgia trip here!!! Simply awesome! :D P.S. For fans of Microsoft Flight Simulator check this out: Flight Simulator History: Download the FS History video (120 Mb) Brings back many memories...  :D
  25. Sorry, I intended to never (!) make a movie this big again after last years ('06)... but this is simply a "live show" made into a video. It wasn't intended with any kind of fancy movie editing or FX, just to let people who couldn't make VFAT see what transpired from our end. :pilotfly:
