  1. it's not
  2. It doesn't stutter on mine by keeping SMT enabled, not sure why it would stutter for yours, mine had the tiniest amount of stutter by disabling SMT.
  3. Yes, I would believe so, although I did go about for a while using it with dampers only for a couple of modules with great success, You can convert the orion2 base back to its more ubiquitous configuration, however Winwing suggests that you just buy another base. I remember reading that people were having trouble installing them on their own and so to avoid headache I think that's why they made the MFSB unavailable for stand-alone purchase. If there are complaints that I have with the Orion 2 base is that it's a bit sloppy in the middle with the default cam and spring, and this is where the damper helps to minimize the bounce back as well as the different cams. I would ask if the MFSB kit come with cams and springs
  4. I can help. So, with the dampeners will help with actually keeping the Cyclic in place and depending on how tight you make them, can benefit from accidental deflections, I would suggest getting some dampening grease as there can be some play at neutral. I felt that the rubber boot was a hinderance and so I bought a cheap leather shift boot and replaced it with that. No more deflection from the boot. Lucky, looking at this video the answer is no as all four sides will be occupied by the MFSB.
  5. I tried playing DCS with SMT disabled on my 9800x3d setup (VR) and this actually introduced tiny, yet noticeable micro stutters and fps dips. I then went back to ryzen master and re-enabled it. OP are you able to run a stress test/benchmark on your cpu? I know you recently sold your 7800x3d but did you ship it yet (I figured it wouldn’t hurt to test the setup again just to be sure)
  6. I have yet to run into any problems, it's possible that this can help, but thus far it's been pretty much plug and play for me. I did update my MB bios prior to install though. I also forgot to take DCS off from offline which resulted in me waiting a few hours for support to remove the hardware change flag off the account.
  7. i wish I had recorded the 7800x3d results before dropping in the 9800x3d that came two days earlier than expected. I was just too eager I saw a small bump in DCS as the 4080s is still the bottle neck here. I haven't attempted any OC other than enabling PBO etc. The MB has been upgraded to a newer bios to boost performance when using the newer chips. I will say that there are fewer drops, more like blink and you'll miss it. Hardly scientific I know, I'm sure once everyone else here gets setup with theirs there will be some better anecdotes. I saw a user here who recently installed this into their system complain about stutters, luckily, I have yet to experience this across my test flights with the modules I own.
  8. Zen 4 am5 socket
  9. Bought this back in May of this year from Newegg, so still in warranty. Selling as I just received my 9800x3d today (16/11/24) I'll be installing my new CPU in the morning, so the 7800x3d will be cleaned of its thermal paste and ready to ship (CONUS) come Monday. $340 $300
  10. Unfortunately, it did not. I had this happen after a long startup just yesterday. I'm on whatever the current build is. It was annoying, but it gave me an opportunity to meticulously go through the check list and startup procedure again.
  11. Cheers! I was starting to lose my mind on this. The paddle does have a physical button (8) at the end of travel and one virtual (7) and yes, it works once and that's it. So I too believe that this is a bug, as this behavior seems to only be within the A10 module(s).
  12. Oh right, yeah, that's not working for me. It works on other modules, but for some reason it will not work on the A10 (either of them) for me. Which is perplexing. This is why I need someone with an f16EX and orion 2 to test out for me, and if that's you how do I do this
  13. Okay this is promising. I fiddled with simapp pro, but I am lost. I take it that this is in the key binding section? Setup a new binding (orion+F16ex) hit next and.... What should I put under condition? Execution should be where I change it (button 8?) to press? Or the paddle axis?
  14. It's all good, I'm definitely not a purist, the book stayed in the aircraft back in the late 90's when I left. I suppose I can try and use the toe brake buttons on the skywalker pedals to see if that works.
  15. Did you get an upgraded shipping date? I went from unknown date (Amazon) to it being scheduled for delivery this coming Monday
  16. If anyone has a winwing f16ex on an Orion 2 base, can you try mapping the speed brake function onto buttons 8 to extend and 7 or even button 8(off)? I ask because when I do it simply doesn't work. If I try and get creative and have something like 8+7off to extend and 7 on with 8 off as a combo, it will work once and then that's it. So basically, I want to have the paddle pulled in for speed brakes extension and then off to auto-retract. The only other module that gives me an issue is the f16, but the combo buttons setup (see above) works with that. All my other modules either work with just two button mappings or actually have an axis assigned to the speed brakes.
  17. Silly me I threw in an overlocking term in there. Didn’t mean to further muddy the waters for the OP. But when it comes to the last generation of intel chips well… lol
  18. Unfortunately there is no one size fits all when it comes to settings. A person might be okay with 60fps and everything on, another may feel that’s unacceptable. Maybe you hit the the cpu/gpu lottery, and can get outstanding fps with maxed out settings. It could be you’re unlucky with your 14900k and run into stability issues. The bottom line is that the video serves as a starting point for you to build on, same with the thread I linked. A search on your favorite search engine for Pimax crystal light DCS settings will give you a breakdown on what they recommend for settings both in DCS with breakdowns as to how each setting may or may not impact your frame rates, and also the settings in Pimax play. it might seem daunting, I know it was for me a couple of months ago, but though iterative tweaking you’ll get a better understanding of it. I personally would steer clear of any other third party add-ons like openxr toolkit etc, until you get comfortable with the barebone settings as presented to you within the two software packages (DCS and Pimax). lastly make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. You got this!
  19. Can you post your DCS and Pimax settings in this thread? I’ve been experimenting with various settings and can comfortably get 90+ fps with settings that I find acceptable. If I leave everything on their highest settings I can get 60-90 up high, but once I hit the deck, it’s 45-50 depending on the map. The floating issue more or less always precedes a crash for me, and primarily is on the F14 and F4 for me. Very annoying. I should try this on msfs2020, I know it happens in BMS with the F-15c as well. But it been a while since I’ve loaded up those two games.
  20. If you would've written that you have a 4080s then you'd have my exact system in terms of the major hardware. I have paired my 7800x3d MAG650 Tomahawk to this G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000) Desktop Memory Model F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5NR
  21. You made out well, I ordered mine from Amazon three minutes after they became live on newegg and I don’t have a definitive date.
  22. Did you watch this video? It's a good baseline to work from, and of course there's the pinned thread on VR settings for various setups
  23. That be my setup save for the 4090 as I'm using the 4080super, right now it's a toss-up between getting the 9800x3d or just waiting for the 5090 and getting my FPS boost there for VR.
  24. For me it simply didn't work properly, and when it did work, the FPS would drop to exactly half regardless of what my DCS settings were to coax better frame rates. Now I get the steady performance boost, but with the reduced visual acuity. I installed play first, and then the Nvidia drivers. This is the way I have done it not sure if it works in reverse. I think the bottom line is that I like to treat it all as a clean install for both devices.
  25. When I first received my CL (play version 1.29) I had the very same issue from the get-go. I fired up the play app and everything was not responsive. Only reinstalling the nvidia drivers made it possible to use the HMD. Now every time there's an update to either Nvidia or Play, I completely uninstall and reboot before attempting to install either one.
