  1. Is this even correct though? My understanding is that DLSS is upscaling whereas Super sampling takes (for example) a 4k image and then upscales this to say, 8k, down samples this back to a native 4k resolution to improve the image quality rendering the scene a crisper, sharper, less aliased one. DlSS, never produces a higher image then what you have initially, so no super sampling is taking place. It's disingenuous to call DLSS as traditional super sampling. One of the YouTube channels even touched on this recently, it was either HUB, or GN. Edit: source It was GN
  2. Exactly this. Nvidia has really put its marketing to work trying to convince the masses that the 5k series cards not only warrant that 25% premium with at best 20-30% performance gain on certain titles, but that with MFG it's actually 50%+ LOL People, MFG is not what you want in VR, you want that raster performance. 40fps will just look smoother, but now you get the added latency that comes with it.
  3. Anyone change their quality preset render multiplier in dlss tweaks? I have. I think quality is defaulted to .65, I’ve changed it to .75 runs smooth on my rig and everything looks sharp with ever the slightest softening in objects like aircraft in the distance. Sometimes aircraft will comet tail when the ground is in their direct background.
  4. hmm only works if you have a controller.
  5. No, I think you might be thinking of MFG.
  6. I mean I get it, but I sure as heck don't want it. Who really wants or needs the increased latency?
  7. I think you misread me. Mine is working as intended as soon as I push past the last detent (forward) the animation shows the throttle lift and into AB. The person above me stated that theirs starts happening just before that detent.
  8. As soon as I push past MIL power detent is when my animation shows the lift, not before.
  9. sad part is that someone will buy that
  10. I watched one just the other day, a fledging account (at least to me) that tested DCS in the Syria map I believe across a range of GPU's in VR So hopefully that pops off soon and he gets higher end GPUS. I'm in no super rush to replace my 4080s, but if I can snag an FE for MSRP then sure why not? There's value in it for me, even if there really isn't any for others. Would I pay well and above that? Absolutely not. I'll sit it out for the inevitable Supers and Ti cards that will come out or for the 6k series.
  11. Everything else is pretty much it. Bolded not so much, unless you can define what that even means. Anyway, steering my ship back on course here. I’m conflicted as to what any of this (5090 reviews) actually means to me in terms of VR performance. 2d performance be damned as my 4080s was more than capable of letting me play at 4k and at a minimum 90fps maxed out. What I want is vr performance reviews. And the whole cost issue is a bit lost on my honestly. Back in May when I built my PC, 4090s were selling at $2k+ already and were limited with inventory. There were no msrp priced cards. So instead I bought an ‘80 super for $1100. So for me going to a 5090 would be a huge jump in performance, as well as those who have cards below that tier. If you have a 4090 I guess the price increase of 25% for an almost equal performance bump would be questionable. But even then my post is still a little off topic. I’m imagining that $2400 will be the average for those partner cards. Maybe a PNY card will be around $2200? No idea. Guess we’ll find out in a few days/weeks. Good luck to anyone trying to snag one tomorrow(?).
  12. Are you running productivity software or some media stuff (premier etc)? If not, the extra cores are not going to contribute to your gaming experience. I think the extra cores on the other chiplet are parked for gaming, giving you basically a 9800x3d. I think either Steve's from HUB or GN touched on this. Save your money and get a 9800x3d if gaming is your primary use.
  13. I downloaded and tested this on my rig, and nope. Actually ran worse in quality than if I just kept it off. I’ll just run NIS and FFR in openxr tk and Quad views and still get a locked 70fps in most places with any dips being down to about 67fps in the more challenging areas. With the new dlss my rig struggled to maintain 64fps. At least it (new dlss) didn’t look so washed out and blurry.
  14. Oof, what a disappointing generation so far if true. Weren’t we warned about this some time ago that the push would be towards AI and gaming was secondary? I thought I remember seeing a video and reading something like that before.
  15. Have to clarify that you must taxi just past its entrance to the road before it moves. I was also curious. Seems that Bigi has a remote starter for his aircraft as the pilot model is not in it until it actually taxis. I’m jealous
  16. At first I thought this was a bug too. Don’t tell me you’re ready to taxi when you’re not. Lol as I started to move I noticed that the wings were still folded. So I waited and ctl +z (hey your time is precious so use it) until it actually started move.
  17. See I thought the same thing, So I flew in close so that the pilot could see me (as ordered) and stayed there and got nothing as a result other than it turning on me and taking me out. Seemed that I needed to be at the 7-8 o’clock position to get the trigger to activate and not the 10-11 or 1-2 position.
  18. Yeah give it some time maybe? Dunno when I received my throttle back during their last big sale. I usually put in 4 hours a day (if not more) in DCS. During the last Christmas break it was more like 6-8. I do believe it’s what finally led to me being able to AAR with all the modules I own. Now I have it locked down firmly so that it doesn’t fall in either direction, but still being able to give the tiny inputs needed for AAR and the like. I also have to check if I have a curve on the throttle. In the F18 AAR mission (doesn’t matter which one) I know that I need 322-323kts to have an easy approach and then cycle between that (split throttles at the first detent) by moving the right throttle just a few mm forward and aft. When I first received the Throttle it was a chore just to get out of that middle detent because of how sticky the throttle felt because it was new and as a result the inputs where a bit uneven. I loosened it but then anything significantly passed the middle detent and I would get creep towards the MIL detent. I also have a VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle now that’s smooth that I could never perform a successful AAR. So maybe I just got gud lol
  19. I fail to see this as a bad thing. They’re admitting that they need more QC time to get it right, vs subjecting all early adopters to be beta testers at best, alpha (early access or whatever term) at worse. Honestly, I’d wish that they slowed down just a bit to let their products breathe and mature a bit. I’m starting to get the feeling that the PCL was a stop gap product that will soon see its sunset. No regrets at the moment as mine is so far flawless in operation.
  20. Just about to post this too lol.
  21. More about the customer service and less about the HMDU strap, that's why. I was curious to see what the turnaround for something as minor as that was. Turns out that it was one day from initial contact that they aimed to resolve it. Then two days after to get a resolution (confirm shipment address etc) then a promise for update on shipping, and that's where the wheels fall off. Five days since then and nothing. Which tracks with the other issue I had where there was an initial flurry of back and forth and then, nothing else follows.
  22. Just finished this one, Chainsaw vectors you to 040 I stayed on that until new orders. 051 was the next, so I flew that, tagged the Blackjack and then after I got the new tasking, I believe it was 055 which goes down to 7000, I followed that and proceeded to work on getting my grand slam, when my wingman sent an Aim-9x right up my tail pipe Redid the mission and yeah, same procedure. This ended in success with 2 crashing on final for some reason and losing me 4 points
  23. Wait just how close or far do you have to be? I’ve played this mission 3 times and get to intercept and I’ll pull up about as close as one does when stationed for refueling f14s to get the pilot attention and…. Nothing. I even pulled up to the nose and that backfired (pun intended) as it turned right into me and destroyed my right wing. But seriously it shouldn’t be that difficult and I don’t want to skip the mission Fourth time success. I think I know what the problem was. I staggered my approaches. First on the left, then the right, then left (where I got clipped) Neither time did I get the handshake message. Then I went left again, and all the message triggers worked. Feisty bugger. Yay, we're at war...
