  1. Update is feature packed! And finally we get the T-72 as a crewable tank!
  2. ^ That's actually a very nice looking cockpit. I always found the in-cockpit experience of X-plane lacking in relation to MSFS, but I am talking about version 7 or 8. Do all airplanes have these high quality 3D cockpits now or is this a payware expansion? The best thing about X-plane has always been its performance. Super high framerates made it a perfect tool to practise IFR procedures with. It has helped my during flightschool a lot of times. If X-plane 10 is indeed such a big leap forward I will instantly buy.
  3. I have been gaming on a wireless connection for some years, but went back to a cable. MMO's and FPS games especially do not like the variable signal and this usually results in lag or warping in-game. At the time flight simming did not seem to be impacted as much. Still, I am happy I went back to a cable; rock steady throughput and superb pings. For serious gaming I would always recommend having a cable connection if possible over a wireless one.
  4. I just got myself the Sony PRS-T1 e-reader. While it does support PDF files, processing them is somewhat slow, but I am being told that this is the nature of the display being used (e-ink), rather than the device. As long as the PDF files are formatted to A5 size they will display well enough. Luckily the DCS manuals are A5 size formatted, but A4 or Letter sized documents will be too small to read and you will need to either zoom or read in landscape mode and scroll. This works a little slow, because the device has to recalculate all the time. Even in A5 the letters are quite small though and up-sizing them destroys the formatting on the pages. Another solution is to turn them 90 degrees and view them in landscape mode, but this will force you to scroll over the pages, but it works well enough. Its certainly do-able, but I think a tablet might be more comfortable reading the PDF files. I do find reading documents on e-ink displays less tiring on the eyes, though.
  5. little bump
  6. Little bump.
  7. So if I buy the upgrade, it needs to check wether I have BS1 installed when I try to install BS2, but I understand that after install its a seperate installation from BS1. Can you then uninstall BS1? I don't like keeping HDD space occupied with basically a copy of the same program I never use anymore.
  8. I have v2 as well. No mention of any other version at the store I bought them from. So I would think its a scam if a store wants to sell em for more than the suggested retail price for TM Cougar MFDs. There is no mention of v1s or v2s in all the shops I've checked. So you should het the v2s as that is the standard current version the MFDs come at.
  9. How are we for another session, chaps?
  10. ^Enjoy, glad you like it!
  11. I dont have to do anything special for it to work. Just installed the game, patched to 1.04 and installed LWAMI. Works fine. Haggart that is too unfortunate... I hope I can be there next time you want to try again. BtW Has the yoke arrived yet? ;)
  12. Im too late to join, darn it. How was the session?? Are we going to do it again?
  13. I am all setup, but I am still not sure I can make it. Don't wait for me if I havent posted tomorrow. Hopefully you are planning on doing this more often?
  14. Cool. Hope I can be there. Thanks for setting this up, Haggart.
  15. Hmz.. DW. That has been a while. Very exciting, though! I would be interested to join up as well. When do you guys have it scheduled?
  16. I am interested to know as well. Where did you get these figures from?
  17. mach 0.75 is indeed 450KIAS, but normally a Mach limit speed is not directly converted into an KIAS, but lower KIAS speeds apply. I am interested to know what the limit speed in KIAS is, because I doubt it is 450KIAS as per the rule of thumb M = KIAS / 60 But I may be wrong?
  18. How would this Mach number translate into an IAS setting on lower altitudes? In other words what is the IAS limit?
  19. Indeed. Self regulation hand in hand with the limited protection of PB works ok enough.
  20. Sure, right you are. I was just fooling around.
  21. ;) Cool test! I get a sick feeling and my eyes start to hurt quickly while using 3D glasses and effect on my computer. It's definately not for me, at the moment.
  22. This actually IS annoying, I agree. Even with Punkbuster you see a lot of hacking going on, but that is true for most shooter games with a competative multiplayer component. After some time you learn which servers have the serious players and which don't. Just login accordingly. But yes, you still come across a guy with an aimbot, wallhack or whatnot. I don't think you can prevent this fully, so I am definately not going to let it spoil my fun.
  23. GameBooster? Do people still use these applications? I thought we were all quite adapt by now setting up the services in Windows? *ducks* ;)
  24. I forsee a high tech version of Jane's Fleet Command, but not only with naval forces. What's in a name, eh? Digital Combat Simulator That might even included ARMA infantery-style operations. :D One can only wish! The ultimate wet dream would be modules compatible with eachother to make one big Dangerous Waters/Sub Command, Jane's Fleet Command, ARMA, Steel Beasts Pro PE, DCS Jets/Helo's combat environment. Still at the pace programming goes (in general) I will be well beyond retirement once this is all in place. :megalol: Personally, I just would be very content it DCS continues to release combat flightsim products and refrain from adding in boats, tanks and whatnot if that means aviation modules get released faster. :joystick:
