This is a nice way to portray lighting: http://www.avsim.com/pages/0907/3D_Lights/3D_Lights.htm Good mix between aestethics and realism.

How good can one hide? Can AI see&lase through buildings?

Interesting test. Were there no other enemy units with line of sight to you in the second scenario? Did you fire beforehand? -
What can we expect out of the single player experience?
Yskonyn replied to Hornet85's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
With the 'Pilot can direct ground forces' option enabled, I can see some very cool concepts for SP missions where an A-10C or KA-50 pilot is also able to control the ground forces of his side in the mission. Ground forces vs Ground forces is a bit too rough around the edges for my liking still, though. -
^ + 1 I always print a reference sheet for my first few sorties. Then it'll come naturally after a while.
-
Oh ok, my bad then. I do not have the issue anymore since this new version so I figured this caused the fix.
-
Well that's common sense, isn't it? If you want to save files inside the DCS folder itself, of course you have to back those up if you are going to uninstall DCS. But the stock config files are stores in My Saved Games folder and are still there after uninstall.
-
It already stores all the config files in your My Saved Games folder, so you can uninstall and reinstall and it will remember all your options automatically.
-
It is not useless at all. With the previous version of World you always had to ALT-TAB out and in to DCS to get your mouse to click on the buttons in the sim. Having this Aero option enabled in DCS now prevents you from having to ALT-TAB first and focus is immediately good upon launching the sim.

Thanks for getting the upgrade version compatible.
Yskonyn replied to MadTommy's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I get the 'you need to have BS 1 installed and activated' error when I try to install the module. I have the standalone BS2 upgrade over my BS1 installation, but it seems like this does not register anymore as a valid BS1 install. Does one need to install BS1 seperately first? Cumbersome... -
Well its not that you have to keep changing stuff all the time. Just now, once, because we transfer to a new integrated system. Inconvenient? Yes. A big problem? No. The keybinds inside DCS work great without having to resort to 3rd party tools or profiling software. :joystick: ;)

There have been changes in the format, so we won't get around redoing our configs in DCS World. As for Fabrizi; in the lower left on the controls options menu you will find a button labeled 'Modifiers'. Here you can add any key or joystick button you want to act as one. Then you can reprogram your profile as you want again.

After upgrading yesterday I found the framerates in DCS A-10C very choppy today. I rolled back the driver and all is normal again. Further research dug up this: 301.42 Bug List (from: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=229953) with important issues bolded: VSYNC causes drop in FPS every 30 seconds on GTX 600 series cards - We’ve root caused the issue to a driver bug and identified a fix for it. The fix requires extensive testing though and will not be available until our next major driver release in June (post-R300). For users experiencing this issue, the interim workaround is to disable vsync via the NVIDIA Control Panel or in-game graphics settings menu. Full Geforce 600M notebook Verde driver support is targeted for our next major driver release 3D clock speeds drop when playing games with certain factory overclocked graphics cards - Unable to reproduce at this time. We are continuing to investigate this issue and hope to provide a fix as soon as our QA team repdoces this issue in our labs. Dirt 3 fails to launch with FXAA and 3D Vision Enabled - Scheduled for next major driver release Enabling AA via NVCPL does not work with 3DTV play resolution (NVCPL Vsync On). - Scheduled for next major driver release Unable to enable multi-displays mode while in multi-GPU mode with Geforce GTX 295 with all drivers after 285.62. - Scheduled for next major driver release FXAA when applied globally cause Windows Live Mail text to be blurry. - Scheduled for next major driver release Binary Domain graphic corruption - This is a game bug. Our developer relations team is informing the developers of this game of the issue

It has changed with the latest upgrade patch. The T-72 is now playable, indeed.

problem with separate throttles on warthog
Yskonyn replied to blade782's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The paddle is used for SAS emergency disconnect in the real bird if I remember correctly. It's yellow and lower down indeed. A few tips to prevent issues: 1) any controller you add to your pc (e.g. gamepads, etc) will get default functions assigned by DCS once you start and may cause weird control conflicts. So either unlug them, or leave them plugged in, but delete the assignments. 2) DCS knows in which port your controller was. So this means that when you plug out your hardware often, be sure to plug each component in the exact same USB port again. Otherwise you will loose your bindings and DCS will assign default bindings to that input controller. -
Well then I would suggest building your own profile instead. As tedious as it sounds (and is sometimes :megalol: ) you will reap the benefits quickly.

http://forum.avsim.net/page/index.html/_/pri-news/the-x-plane-devcon-rap-up-r149 This is great news. PMDG has also stated earlier that they are discussing possibilities to create addons for X-plane. With the FS dev studio in limbo it might be just what the civil flightsim niche needs!
-
For civilian flight there are only two all-round choices; Xplane or FS (9 or 10) I suggest you search these boards for thread on one vs the other as that horse has been beaten to death. Flight Gear is a nice project, but its open source and there's not a very big userbase. It lacks quality over Xplane and FS. Flight Pro Sim never heard of, but from the feedback above I would steer right clear of that one. To get a feel for what is available for Xplane or FS browse through sites like flightsim.com, avsim.com, x-plane.org or do a google search on flightsim community or xplane community. You will get more hits than you can process in a few days. :)

Yeah with the G13 you have to first assign keyboard commands inside the sim, then in the logitech gamepanel software you can map those keystrokes to your buttons. No other way, but on the other hand, this works fine as-is. I use my G13 as an UFC in A-10C and I use it for ABRIS controls in KA-50.

Nvidia 680 GTX Inbound
Yskonyn replied to Terminal Meltdown's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have a 580 and it rocks! I am running on 1680x1050, though, so thats a lower res than what you want, but I would say it won't be a problem for this card at all. Prices are bound to drop on this card too with the new generation just being released. -
Cool stuff! Thanks for sharing!

How to force install of the 32 bit version
Yskonyn replied to tankaviator's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
As far as I know it installs the 32-bit version always and you have the option to install the 64-bit version to be installed additionally.
