The only thing I know about this is from Austin's presentation videos on youtube. There he talks about XP10 being able to divert tasks to other cores; AI traffic to one, terrain generation to one, weather system to one, avionics to one, etc. I am not sure if all this is a vision or already implemented functionality.

^ Same for me. Performance is quite impressive!

Talk to the guys from eSimgames about stuff that's needed for 'hardcore armored warfare sims' and then translate that to an idea for Mechs.

Satisfied TM warthog pilots?
Yskonyn replied to Elnocho3's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Another satisfied guy here. Been working fine for almost a year and a half now. No issues whatsoever. -
Looks interesting indeed! Is this like an Fleet Command clone?

DCS Multiplayer message removal Mod
Yskonyn replied to Eddie's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Sorry for necro-ing this thread, but are there any known issues with this MOD and the display of scripted messages in a mission? I was flying the stock CSAR Coop 2 mission today with Icarus, I have this mod installed and he has not. Once we called the rescue helo to depart from its holding position, Icarus saw the text message from the helo confirming its movement, while I did not. -
I started with the old Microprose titles like F-19 and F-15 SE II. Oceans Retaliator title was cool as well and that was my first introduction to using a mouse as a control input (ah, times fly!). I remember it being so awkward that I thought at that time I would never get used to a mouse, ever. MSFS was hugely interesting as well. Being able to fly anywhere on the globe was just such a massive thing in my view. That alone was all the magic. I was gifted my uncle's copy of MSFS along with a cool book called Learning to fly with Flight Simulator by John Rafferty. Fun times and this was my introduction to navigation, VOR's, NDB's and the like. Then came the Domark titles like AV8B Harrier. Insanely complex and rudimentary external control input, but nonetheless so highly interesting! ;) Jane's title are quite clearly engraved into my mind as well. Jane's US Navy Fighters was the first sim I actually bought with my saved money AND I spend money for a videocard upgrade just for this one. The graphics level of detail were unprecedented and were only pushed forward with each Jane's title afterwards. Remember we finally got different weapons on outside (external view) pylons and actually seeing the weapon launch from the pylon? That was never done, before this era. Things we take for granted now. Argh, it makes me feel old. :) But happy that DCS is here and Falcon BMS is living up again too.

Altimeter - Effect of Temperature on Pressure
Yskonyn replied to IronHog's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Indeed as was nicely pointed out in our last proficiency check in the sim. We were doing extreme (cold) weather operations. Hardly anyone thought about this while flying. ;) -
Initially it had a different name; Battle of Britain: Storm of War. Ubisoft rebranded the title to sell it in the IL-2 line of titles.

A little bump! Would love to hear some progress on this! ;)

Still, its a nice concept, though. It's more a social game than an intricate spaceship sim. Should be fun with a bunch of friends.

Just tick the 'reverse' checkbox next to the axis in the control panel.

Actualy, I didn't see what these guys were doing. I was looking at the bodies of the two chicks. Darn! ;)

That would be great news. Needless to say I hope they choose the NGX.

I have read about some project that kept EF2000 running. I can't seem to find it now, though. Perhaps Google for a bit. I have seen posts in the past about flying EF2000 on a modern pc. (Or any DiD title that is) Great stuff. It was my first sim that I actually flew online with for quite some time with a friend. DiD rocked! Until they came with 'Wargasm'. I still have my EF2000 and F-22 and Total Air War Boxes, Manuals (Allies & Adversaries supplement from F22 is cool even today) and disks in pristine condition too. :D

It's tuesday already, gents. After the little spike of interest this weekend we seem to stall again at making a date. What of it? ;)

New TrackIR profile I hereby share my newly finished and tweaked TrackIR profile! :joystick: See the Readme.txt inside the archive for details, but a description is at its place here too: I had been trying to forge a decent profile for DCS Black Shark and DCS A-10C for quite a while but I never got rid of the jittering when looking around in the cockpit. A user called Marmus came up with a tip to restrict the movement of the Z-axis and try more smoothing to get rid of the jittering. Instead of Z-axis movement, use a rotary to control zooming in/out. I am using a Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and on the throttle there is an axis free called Slider1 (the friction knob for the real aircraft (not the friction wheel of the throttle in the top left)). This got rid of the jittering when viewing at the instruments or one of the lower panels, but looking around was still rather nervous. After quite a while, testing, re-running and testing some more, I have finally come up with this profile, which I think is ready to be shared. The principle for the profile revolves around having a stable view, with a deadzone around the center forward view, to make flying and fighting with the aircraft as smooth as possible without having to adjust view constantly, resulting in fighting the view and the aircraft. Additionally I found it much more comfortable to have a smoothed out view instead of a direct view. Therefore I recommend to run this profile in Precision Mode all the time. Yassy_DCS.rar

You're right. Expectations and experience make for a rather subjective assessment of wether something feels realistic. That goes for all of us, indeed. :) If you've never been in a cockpit and you look at one of FS's stock ones, you could indeed accept that it would offer a realistic picture of how a cockpit might look like. But the question was wether the cockpits of stock FS where that much off in relation to a real cockpit. There is no subjectiveness there. It either is or it isn't. ;) Oh and I have no idea about your picture question. :)
-
Sure mate, I do understand, but you fired off this claim; Which suggests that you claim to have proper knowledge about how a given cockpit should look and that you do not agree that stock cockpits in FS are that bad. I respond to that by telling you I disagree, that's all. I think when you take some time to actually look around properly, you will quickly see why I say this. And that's coming from a real life commercial pilot, mate. :D
-
If you're in those cockpits 5 days a week you aren't using your eyes correctly if you're asking wether the stock aircraft cockpits are really that bad in FS(X). ;) The only cockpits that come close to the real deal decently enough are the general aviation aircraft cockpits, but the airliners are rubbish.

Mucho gracias!

Cool stuff Phantom. Do you have a link for those interested? I would love to upgrade my cities in X-plane! ;)
