When I use "Level autopilot" (ALT 3) -- it levels the jet out--no problem. However, if I bank the jet while in this mode (even 10 degrees)--it flip flops back and forth ad naseum after I let go of the stick. To make matters worse--when I disengage the autopilot (ALT 9), the controls for pitch and roll are hosed--as if it is still in some kind of autopilot mode. E.G. it is constantly rolling to the right if I let go of the stick. Can anyone else confirm this? Is this a feature--or a bug?
-
Actually, now the autopilot seems to look a little more realistic--bobbing and rolling ever so slightly--in the other example, I must have had the "angles" autopilot engaged.

I've set up my cougar axis as suggested in the 1.1 readme--and having a lot of fun flying the AFM on the frog--there is no insensitivity on the stick--very little input is needed for pitch and roll--but when autopilot is engaged, it flies absolutely perfect--not a single bump left or right, up or down. I wonder if I'm supposed to be able to fly this straight--which would seem impossible with my current setup. I can achieve absolute straight flight--but after a second or two--invariably it rolls to the left or right--or pitches up or down. To a certain degree (I'm getting better) I'm tossing about quite a bit--I thought due to wind and other external forces--but the autopilot doesn't seem to be affected. Is this realistic--or simply how the autopilot works in the sim?

Congratulations to all involved in VFTC airshow!

Creative--that oughta work just fine. What's the idea of messing with the fuel? -
I think this is a "feature"--as irl, in the cockpit, you would hear very little (with all of your gear on). Of course, outside of the pit--as a viewer, you would hear it all, frighteningly loud.

Where did I put that Missoin Builder manual?
BBQ replied to BBQ's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
aha! I didn't bother looking at the Quick Start Manual--thinking it was akin to --use the QMB and hit "Fly" and shoot down MiG ;) -
Where did I put that Missoin Builder manual?
BBQ replied to BBQ's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thanks Goya-- Interesting they created a Spanish version--and made it availabe on the website--perhaps the Spanish community put it together-- I still have the Flanker 2.0 manual--perhaps that would be helpful? -
I can seem to remember whether LOMAC came with an eletronic mission builder's guide (there is a spanish one on the website)--or printed--but I can't seem to find either!

Thanks for all the tips! Ironhand--look forward to any upcoming training missions for 1.1 :) (apart from excellent a-10 voiceovers already present)

Wow  I watched the airshow track--and was overwhelmed--and not just by the jittery camera work! I thought someday people might be able to fly formation like that--in a sim, and the day is here! (perhaps they've done it before--and I just missed it?) Congratulations to all involved--really quite professional and impressive. Now if we could get someone to edit that track...with different camera angles hehe. I really do appreciate someone putting the track together, so that we could see it ASAP--just think it's worthy of so much more :) Inspires me to work harder on formation flying-- If I recall, in single-player, you can only fly in the lead spot--correct? How does everyone practice their formation flying offline? -
so then I can hit the mode change again to go to RTN mode, and hit it again for LNDG mode? I know that in enroute mode--when you reach the end, it automatically switches to RTN for the finals, and then to LND after that--just wondering if there is a cue somewhere telling me when I'm about to land!

Without a hud--how do you know which Nav mode you are in while fying the Su-25? Thanks for any replies!

Su-25--loving the AFM, period.

Trying to Forgive LOMAC--system spec help?
BBQ replied to BBQ's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Oops--I did the same thing over at SimHQ :( AMD Athlon XP 2100+ And yes, I think my CPU is the culprit. I'm hoping to upgrade to another one soon. -
Trying to Forgive LOMAC--system spec help?
BBQ replied to BBQ's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Griff--thanks for the reply--with my overall experience with Flanker 2 and LOMAC, and now FC, I would tend to agree with your overall assumptions regarding missions with lots of activity. I wonder--what do you do to have fun then? Are you just into flying formation (I enjoy this)--or just flying around--or do you create your own missions with minimal activity (say one SAM site only, as a target for the mission, or one advesary aircraft)? I enjoy just flying around in such a gorgeous environment--especially with the new FM for the SU25 variants--but I'm wanting a bit more--without getting the slideshow. Of course, I want to have my cake and eat it to--as I don't have time really to create a bunch of missions--learn the mission builder, etc. Perhaps I could use the quick mission builder? -

I have found that lowering the resolution has minimal effect as well--though I haven't flown an entire mission with this testing methodology. -
I've posted this at SimHQ as well--sorry for any repeat reads! After d/loading FC and installing a Radeon 9800 pro--I tweaked FC and ran the first SU25T campaign mission. Everything is beautiful at 1600X1200--and pretty smooth (minimal AA and AF in graphics settings). When I approach the target--and it starts firing at me--I get a slide show. I had spent hours tweaking LOMAC F/C--getting track IR just right--and getting my Cougar set up. I got fed up (had been a long day) and uninstalled the whole thing. That was the day FC came out. My head has now cooled--and I'm ready to try again--I just wondered if anyone can suggest some settings (both in game and for Radeon) and resolution for the game--so that I can get somewhat smooth gameplay--in the heat of combat. Here are my system specs--and replies much appreciated! Asus A7V333 mobo 1gb DDR Windows XP Audigy Radeon 9800 Pro (128mb) Cougar HOTAS Track IR

Took me awhile to figure out I had to declassify missions--then, after a few hours I figured it out--and someone here posted the solution. Now, even though I have myself set to "invulnerable" I still get shot down all the time--despite having declassified the mission, and verified this setting is activated. I still haven't figured out how to use my mouse in external view--though I've gone into the config file and enabled that option by changing the value to "1". my two cents: If anyone wants this family of sims to gather a larger crowd--basic user interace issues should be cleared up before tweaks to FM's. I've spend most of morning trying to fly one *@!## mission as invulnerable without labels, all because all of the sudden, my other "Strategic Simulation" product (Silent Hunter 3) all of the sudden crashes to desktop everytime I launch it. Sorry for the rant--having a bad sim day, apparently. I've had enough for now--I know IL2 works--I"ll head back to that front.

Can't change difficulty settings on campaign?
BBQ replied to BBQ's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thanks--that did it! -
When I fly a campaign--I noticed the labels are on--which I don't have set to do--but when you load the campagin--and go to look at settings--it changes them, and you can't change them back--any help would be appreciated!

Well, 1.1 is out, post what you think...
BBQ replied to kdittyr's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I had shelved LOCKON months ago--basically, right after it was released--as I couldn't get good fps with my system. I went out last week to get a 9800 pro, and now it's certainly flyable--and I'm having a blast with the SU-25T! Having said that--I really hope the community comes together to support ED on all future add-ons--perhaps even allowing for the development of a dynamic campaign. Truth is, I'll fly this for a few days--then come back to it every so often just to take a flight because it's the most beautiful flight sim to grace a desktop. However--I really need the "immersion" factor to keep me coming back for more. I recently got Silent Hunter III, and that sim flat out floored me, and many others--it's tons of fun (no pun intended). That's the kind of immersion I think the flight sim community needs. At any rate--I'm eagerly waiting to fly the flaming cliffs campaign--but I want to run through all of the training first. Perhaps some of that immersion I've been looking for is there in that campaign--I just haven't had a chance to get at it yet. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase--just to be able to fly in such a realistic/good-looking environment, with an equally realistic feeling/good-looking SU-25T! -
I'm loving the new flight model--as I had not d/loaded the demo to try it out--pretty amazing!
-
Okay--got the a-10 training going--very good job BTW! Looking forward to other voiced-over training missions!

I'm having trouble finding the voice-over training missions--as they all seem to have text only--or perhaps I need to change a setting? thanks for any help!
