I didn't even know Wags was a producer for ED. I thought he left after LOMAC. That's great news! I'm sure he'll keep us updated once this production schedule gets going.

Sweet.

In my experience, if you start on the runway, it will always read zero. You have to change it (that's why they have a key combination for it!). E.g. Majkop (sp) is 182 meters above sea level. I learned of this through one of Ironhand's fantastic tutorials. Perhaps I misunderstood it though? :pilotfly:

I'm loving LOMAC--all iterations of it--but it took some time to get up to speed. Just some advice for any future products--to make it easier to get into the sim, which will translate into more fans, and more buyers. Provide password, or make it easily findable, for missions/campaigns. Let people know that the a certain a/c isn't invulnerable even though you can still press the invulnerable button. Make it conspicous in the manual, or quickstart guide, that you have to manually set your altimeter, due to different elevations of airbases. These are very nit-picky things--but when they start to add up, they become really annoying when trying to search through forums or the manual trying to figure something out. Oh--forgot one--you have to delete the trackir files if you change options, or the trackir won't work. Also--and this could just be my inability as a pilot--make the first few missions in a campaign a little easier? I STILL haven't been able to get through the first mission in the flaming cliffs campaign lol. The trackir is helping alot, to see those IR's coming up--but I'm still struggling. I could see a "newbie" getting very discouraged, thinking "I'll just go invulnerable to get used to this beautiful beast", and then that doesn't work, and they think they're at 3500 meters and they're really not becausse they didn't update their altimeter while on the ground, and they're getting smoked by IR sams. They they change some options, and now their trackir doesn't work! Could drive someone mad, I tell you! Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything  Once all these things are known, the problems (or features) go away, and you realize they are awesome parts of the sim (the alitmeter e.g.). It would just be nice to have all of these issues in the readme, or quickstart guide. I want this sim to grow and grow and grow with more and more fans--so I thought I'd put in my two cents. Whew. Done. The chief point here: make it more user friendly for the newbie. Not the AFM, or the realism--just the quirks that might frustrate someone who is not in the know. Also--forgive me if this stuff is obvious, and well-documented--but I had trouble finding it!

blaze--have you tried making sure your light filter is set to 100? Mine was at 282, and it would jump at the edge of the screen, or hiccup when turning. I read somewhere about the light filter setting--aned oulia! the problem went away.

Thanks for the head's up :) Wow--I just finished tweaking the trackir--and it is unbelievable. I had the original trackir from years ago, and this puppy is way more advanced--ease of use and performance are way up. It's no longer a pain, sitting there trying not to move you head to much when looking forward--plus, the vector support--zooming in and out is totally cool. I'm very impressed with it--and highly recommend it to any sim enthusiast (read: anyone who flies lomac!)

Looking forward to finally being able to get my mark 1 eyeball on those IR sams :) I haven't used a trackir for years--I bought the original--but it just had too many quirks to be usefull to me. I can't wait to see how the "latest and greatest" does! Do I have to enable it in anyway inside of the lomac gui?

News about release date or new movie?
BBQ replied to black-ninja2007's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Nice effort! Looking forward to it :) -
Just to add my two cents: I totally lean on the community to provide great missions/campaigns--so I hope they put some effort into being able to port these into BS--I know how long it takes to make missions, let alone campaigns--it would be a shame to have to toss those aside. On the other hand--It'll take me a year to learn to fly the Hokum--I'll be busy trying not to smash my rotors into mountain sides and such :pilotfly:

Thanks Beach--I've been meaning to take a look at these--I'm trying the "tour" first :):D

What he means, is you can "override" the laser to keep it on--I don't know the key combination--but it's in there somewhere--check the key commands doc.

Good thread--LOMAC FC fills a space in my fighter pilot's soul, that no other sim can touch. I too, wish there was something more dynamic offered in LOMAC, but the AFM immerses me completely. One day we will have both...

Same here--after flying the Su-25T, I can't bring myself to fly anything else--whether it be the A-10, P-51 in IL2, or sadly, the F-16 in F4:AF (I wasted 40 bucks on that one--not that it's bad, but I can't deal with the roller-coaster flight model).

Where have you been all my life? :)

Just what I was thinking, Joe hehe -
I'm using it as well--very cool.

All of the sudden, my sims are studdering/freezing
BBQ replied to BBQ's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
It's improved in IL2--going to try LOMAC, tonight. -
All of the sudden, my sims are studdering/freezing
BBQ replied to BBQ's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
actually--I recently installed a Radeon 9800 Pro--and realized my PCI Latency tool had reset the card to 255--I've just now set it back to 64--and I'm going to give it a try! -

That sucks--I'll try to figure it out a bit more... -
IL2 and LOMAC are starting to studder--well, more like freeze for a second or two--or three, then unfreez (if I"m in a turn, I'll be out of the turn by the time the freeze/studder is over.) I've not had this problem since I upgraded to 1gb of RAM a year ago--now all the sudden it's back, in LOMAC and IL2. The only thing I can think of is the IL2 patch 4.0 causing it there--but can't seem to find the reason in LOMAC--though I've just recently started some A-10 operations--whereas before I was exclusively flying the Su-25T. Any suggestions?
-
I've used LOMAN 2.1 (with FC patch)--and installed some high rez skins (2048 I think)--but it doesn't look, in the game, like the screenshot when I choose the skin in the mission editor--how do I know for sure I'm using the skin I installed with LOMAN?
-
Don't know if this is a feature, or a bug--but when I switch aircraft views (say F2, going through planes in mission)--on the second or third switch, I get a very loud, nasty crack/snap noise--this is even apparent on other people's tracks. Is this a soundcard issue--or the noise it's supposed to make when switching views? Note: this is not the snap, crackle, pop issue that others have mentioned (I don't suffer from that--after using a PCI Latency tool).
-
You can fix this, to some extent--by downloading a latency changing tool--your Creative card is hogging the PCI Latency--or some other device (vid card). Set them all to 64 or 32--perhaps set your vid card to 128--then the snap crackle pop should go away.
-
I'll try and hold back the questions until an official announcement is made about LOMAC's succesor :D Thanks for the replies thus far!

I was a bit confused about this as well, Joe. Hopefully the goal is ultimately all the a/c will have the AFM.
