  1. No, no no....you don't understand. ED releases everything based on my clock. So it won't be around for another 6 hours at least. And even then, they might be waiting for me to get out of bed, have my tea, eat my breakfast in the morning, and then they'll probably email me to make sure I'm ready.:megalol::lol::thumbup:
  2. Much easier said than done. Being a busy person, I have limited and very random times when I am available to fly DCS. I get on whenever I can but it's almost never consistent. Not to mention that I am unable to commit to any particular time. I fly when I can and enjoy the time that I have to do so. But there is little chance of being able to make arrangements to be here at any specific time.
  3. I too was partial to the old FM. But the best place is somewhere in between. I agree that it's a little loose right now. They'll get it dialed in pretty soon I am sure. Meanwhile, I'll be busy happily learning the spitfire. That's the great thing about DCS. If something is broken or off, you can spend your time with other cool and fun stuff while you're waiting for it to get fixed.
  4. The embark feature goes through various states of disrepair at times. I believe that it is currently not working for the Mi8 and the Huey both. Also, the last time it was working, the troops would not embark if there was enemy within firing range of them. It did not matter if they were under any kind of cover, the troops just would not move until the threat was taken away.
  5. You said a mouthful there! There is another flight sim out that if you even disagree with one of the old timers they'll do their level best to make you lose your cool and kick you. I have seen that sooo many times there. Admins are as big a jerks as they come, and will erase people's posts if they don't like them. No complaints at all allowed there. It's just terrible. I do not ever post there because I have seen some pretty nasty transactions from the regulars that led to banning anyone who asks questions that they find stupid, or has a complaint.:mad::mad: But then.....there are other forums that I have been on that needed a little regulation. Battlefield, COD, and others have forums that are out of control, with language and commentary that can border on psychotic. ED forums are very good about these things. I myself was quite an a$$hole early on and it got me banned from here. After taking time to think on everything. I apologized to ED, promised to level out, and they took me right back without hesitation, even though I did not ask to come back. So yes.....good forum group.
  6. +1! Absolutely, just to be sure. It may come out for both, but then again......it's not uncommon for a module to be released to 1.5 first. So it's at the very least a 50 / 50 proposition.
  7. I don't think that the track played correctly for you. The plane started in the track. That was not the issue. I have been using DCS for years now and the Mustang since it's release. Startup was not the issue in this track. The actual behavior of the sim itself. So it must have (as per usual) messed up the actual track. I wish they knew how to fix the playback.
  8. Since the last update the P-51 has truly gone in a very interesting direction. We are already aware of the "ALT" button bug. But also, I cannot get it to start in many servers. But this track is truly bizarre. It was done in SP. Not sure what to make of it. All I do know is that I have been trying to fly the P-51 for the past hour and have yet to get it started. It's as though I am in a different time space continuum than the plane itself. Kind of Twilight Zoney......... p51 time.trk
  9. Thanks BIGNEWY, I was getting a little panicky.......
  10. I know exactly what you mean!
  11. Hmm....Where are all of you when I'm in the servers? All I ever see there are 14-20 year old lunatics who only fly the F15. Sometimes I get so aggravated that I just don't go on line. I'll be starting up and some kid will careen into me as he's trying to do a supersonic flyover to show all of us his skills. So I guess I just answered my own question. With age comes common sense I suppose. I'm only 52.
  12. You are exactly right. I am a Huey fan. I flew in them in the early 80's in the military. I find it feels better to me than the Mi8, and I can use it more effectively. I cannot do much of anything with the Mi8. I agree that both are wonderful modules and I'm glad I own them. But I'm much more of a Huey fan. And I also really enjoy the Gazelle, but a lot of folks don't care for it much. So yes.....It's very much a personal preference thing.
  13. ts3.virtual-aerobatics.com or ts3.theflyingpandas.net As a rule, I'm not on TS all of the time. I rarely ever see people there these days. But these are the two servers I spend most of my time on. I also spend a fair amount of time in the NTTR virtual aerobatics server.
  14. Hey!!!! That Kenyan prince is my 3rd cousin once removed on my stepmother's side of the family. Maybe we're related..........
  15. I go by Tuco in the servers. If you ever see me there just gimme a holler and I'll hang with you. I cannot comit to meeting up on line at any given time but I am on in the late afternoon and late evenings a lot of the time. Do you have TS?
  16. "It's a Violation of EULA. It might be laughable to you guys now, But try being one of the people that got duped by these sites who cannot play because their key was sold to multiple recipients and is bound to another account therefore invalid to use online w/ their account. " Yeah....I would be pretty upset myself. But it really kind of goes back to an old saying, "You can't con an honest man." I know that sounds too black or white and indeed the reality of it is very grey. But whenever I see a product like DCS, or Battlefield, Halo, or whatever on a site that doesn't seem affiliated, or isn't the actual vendor's website, I won't give it a second look. The internet is chock full -0- crooks waiting to take your money, ID, and dignity away from you. It's a world with no moral compass, boundries, or discrimination. Anyone who spends even a modest amount of time on the internet should know to be very, very weary of these things.
  17. Yes....I saw your thread earlier. Although you are correct, things are less expensive in Russia, it has nothing to do with fairness, or ED taking advantage of anyone. It's world economics 101. Things are in general, cheaper or more expensive in other countries based on the world currency values. To the average Russian person sitting in their room, looking at modules, the price isn't that cheap. Their currency exchange is different than the United States. And generally the price of things is reflected by that. EXAMPLE: I live very close to the border of Mexico. I can go down there, get a carton of smokes for about 25% the cost of the same cigarettes in the U.S. This is not because of taxes. It's because of the exchange rate. I can get a beautiful leather jacket or leather boots for the same price difference. It's all about geographic location. So it's not as if anyone is getting cheated. Or as if ED is slighting you. It's just basic economics and exchanges. I'm not inclined to worry too much about getting my modules from the Russian sites. I'm happy to fork over the money in my own currency without exploiting anything. Not that you are right or wrong in how you are looking at it. I just don't worry about it. And, I don't read Russian.
  18. Since I never really fly the F15 and could not tell you how any of it's systems work, the F5 was kind of tricky for me to learn at first. From setting up my target on the radar to actually firing the missile. It took me a little time to get to where I could actually find an enemy plane and get close enough to shoot it down. But after setting up countless missions where I had unlimited ammo, and dozens of big, slow moving planes randomly flying around to shoot at, I got it down pretty good.
  19. I have to admit....I do miss it.
  20. I had to snicker to myself a little bit when I read the "Only DCS World keys" message that popped up in my menu box for DCS yesterday. I thought to myself "Is this really a problem?". But I guess it must be. ED thought enough to actually make it a major announcement. I do recall on several occasions while on TS in servers where people were trying to encourage me to go here or there and I can get many of these modules much cheaper than at the DCS sight. I naturally would shy away from doing these things. I have always had the idea that ED, and DCS have always been good to me. They sold me some great modules for prices that were much more than reasonable (remember those sales in the old days?). And I have purchased AC for other flight sims that cost me much more than most DCS modules and were much less detailed, with marginal flight models. So I do not find that there is any reason whatsoever to go fly by night on them. I hear all of the complaints from Steam customers about release dates, late patches, compatibility issues, and all kinds of other stuff and I am dumbfounded that people even go that rout. As sappy as it sounds, my loyalty is to DCS when it comes to where my $$ goes. There is no reason for me to go anywhere else no matter the price. These modules aren't overly expensive. I know that some of you aren't exactly rolling in the dough (I can relate). But in my years on this planet I learned a very valuable lesson that you cannot get younger people to understand. Taking shortcuts leads to shortcut results most of the time, and you get what you pay for. It's something that a person just needs to learn for them self I guess. I'm sure that's how I learned it. Trial and frustrating error. :megalol:
  21. Quite honestly, I really don't have much use for the Mi8 at this point. It is the module that I fly the least. I rarely ever fly it. I fly the Huey and Gazelle pretty regularly, but the Mi8 just sits and collects dust. When the embarking went out with the last patch or so, I just kind of shelved it altogether for now because that was about all I used it for. And even before it broke, you could not pick up troops under fire as they would not move if the enemy were within firing distance, even if they were under cover. That always kind of turned me off to creating rescue mission and the like. And also for the same reasons people are stating in this thread about the Mi-26. For me, the Mi-8 isn't very combat effective. It has limited uses for my purposes, and whatever role I put it in, it just kind of bores me. Now that's just my take on it. I see plenty of folks out there who get a whole lot more out of it than I do and use it all of the time. But if the Mi-26 came available, I personally would probably not bother purchasing. As I acquire more aircraft from DCS, I find that I get pickier about the aircraft I purchase. As it is I have too many of them. It becomes one of those "Jack of all trades, master of none" scenarios at some point. So I pick the few that are my favorites and work with them. I imagine that people who are heli buffs only would welcome the Mi-26. As usual, this is only my point of view. It's not fact, only opinion.
