  1. Yes....I saw your thread earlier. Although you are correct, things are less expensive in Russia, it has nothing to do with fairness, or ED taking advantage of anyone. It's world economics 101. Things are in general, cheaper or more expensive in other countries based on the world currency values. To the average Russian person sitting in their room, looking at modules, the price isn't that cheap. Their currency exchange is different than the United States. And generally the price of things is reflected by that. EXAMPLE: I live very close to the border of Mexico. I can go down there, get a carton of smokes for about 25% the cost of the same cigarettes in the U.S. This is not because of taxes. It's because of the exchange rate. I can get a beautiful leather jacket or leather boots for the same price difference. It's all about geographic location. So it's not as if anyone is getting cheated. Or as if ED is slighting you. It's just basic economics and exchanges. I'm not inclined to worry too much about getting my modules from the Russian sites. I'm happy to fork over the money in my own currency without exploiting anything. Not that you are right or wrong in how you are looking at it. I just don't worry about it. And, I don't read Russian.
  2. Since I never really fly the F15 and could not tell you how any of it's systems work, the F5 was kind of tricky for me to learn at first. From setting up my target on the radar to actually firing the missile. It took me a little time to get to where I could actually find an enemy plane and get close enough to shoot it down. But after setting up countless missions where I had unlimited ammo, and dozens of big, slow moving planes randomly flying around to shoot at, I got it down pretty good.
  3. I have to admit....I do miss it.
  4. I had to snicker to myself a little bit when I read the "Only DCS World keys" message that popped up in my menu box for DCS yesterday. I thought to myself "Is this really a problem?". But I guess it must be. ED thought enough to actually make it a major announcement. I do recall on several occasions while on TS in servers where people were trying to encourage me to go here or there and I can get many of these modules much cheaper than at the DCS sight. I naturally would shy away from doing these things. I have always had the idea that ED, and DCS have always been good to me. They sold me some great modules for prices that were much more than reasonable (remember those sales in the old days?). And I have purchased AC for other flight sims that cost me much more than most DCS modules and were much less detailed, with marginal flight models. So I do not find that there is any reason whatsoever to go fly by night on them. I hear all of the complaints from Steam customers about release dates, late patches, compatibility issues, and all kinds of other stuff and I am dumbfounded that people even go that rout. As sappy as it sounds, my loyalty is to DCS when it comes to where my $$ goes. There is no reason for me to go anywhere else no matter the price. These modules aren't overly expensive. I know that some of you aren't exactly rolling in the dough (I can relate). But in my years on this planet I learned a very valuable lesson that you cannot get younger people to understand. Taking shortcuts leads to shortcut results most of the time, and you get what you pay for. It's something that a person just needs to learn for them self I guess. I'm sure that's how I learned it. Trial and frustrating error. :megalol:
  5. Quite honestly, I really don't have much use for the Mi8 at this point. It is the module that I fly the least. I rarely ever fly it. I fly the Huey and Gazelle pretty regularly, but the Mi8 just sits and collects dust. When the embarking went out with the last patch or so, I just kind of shelved it altogether for now because that was about all I used it for. And even before it broke, you could not pick up troops under fire as they would not move if the enemy were within firing distance, even if they were under cover. That always kind of turned me off to creating rescue mission and the like. And also for the same reasons people are stating in this thread about the Mi-26. For me, the Mi-8 isn't very combat effective. It has limited uses for my purposes, and whatever role I put it in, it just kind of bores me. Now that's just my take on it. I see plenty of folks out there who get a whole lot more out of it than I do and use it all of the time. But if the Mi-26 came available, I personally would probably not bother purchasing. As I acquire more aircraft from DCS, I find that I get pickier about the aircraft I purchase. As it is I have too many of them. It becomes one of those "Jack of all trades, master of none" scenarios at some point. So I pick the few that are my favorites and work with them. I imagine that people who are heli buffs only would welcome the Mi-26. As usual, this is only my point of view. It's not fact, only opinion.
  6. Jeeze!! Thank you........lol:cry:
  7. Yeah...I see a lot of particles of stuff floating around there. And your plug is identical to mine. It really does help to clean it out and put grease on the friction points. Cool! Thanks for showing me the pics. I have taken my X52 apart a few times but never really found anything that could be adjusted to make things better. I did install a washer between the spring and stick to make it more stiff. I find it to be waaaay too lose for my liking. And I put graphite/ grease in the half ball joint to make it move more smoothly but you don't have to take it apart for that. I loosened the clutch on the throttle from the inside. I hated those catch points on it. My X55 is just fine so I have never taken it apart.
  8. LOL......You must be bumming right about now. I hate when I think one thing and find out another. Especially on something like this.
  9. If only Santa would deliver one of these under my tree. I'd never go on a computer again because I would be busy with other things.......
  10. Oh.......I think it was an honest mistake. All of us have been there at one time or another. Often times I misread something, or I overlook it altogether. Lots of times, many people (myself included) opt to use YouTube to learn some of this stuff. We all know how unwise that can be. To the original poster: I'm glad if we were able to help you on this if that indeed was the issue.
  11. I completely get what you are saying. But you aren't understanding that I am pulling back on my stick to get the AC off the ground as soon as possible to avoid the blowout. It just won't lift off until the tire blows. When the tire goes, it's like the plane loses a ton of weight and lifts off the ground. This surely must be a bug as I have never blown a tire on any AC before all of this. In the 4 tracks I posted for you, there is nothing unusual about the takeoffs. At least 2 of them have the plane going right down the center of the runway with no deviation. So what do you mean by "outside of normal"?
  12. Yes....you will hear a faint click and the light for the corresponding gun will light up at the bottom of the center panel. It takes about 3 seconds each button. :smilewink: LOL.....You sound like me at times..........................
  13. In that respect they're pretty useless. The Huey gunners are the same way. Couldn't hit the side of a barn from the inside.
  14. 14 days and we'll all be doing this!!! Hopefully.............
  15. For me....It doesn't matter what I do. I pull the stick and the plane has no lift whatsoever, until the tire actually blows and then it takes right off. It's like the plane won't get off the ground until the tire is actually blown. Very strange. It's one of those bugs that effects some but not others. :dunno:
  16. Here are 4 tracks. 3 from the F5 and 1 from the A10C that I had never blown a tire in before yesterday. This only happens from cold start. Never from runway start. A10blowout.trk F5blowout II.trk F5blowout III.trk F5blowout.trk
  17. I'm going to have to download some Recording software for this. DCS is saving all of my tracks into my music notation (Finale) software format. What the???? I'll post stuff in a day or two.
  18. Will do this evening. Tracks that short should post ok. I'll do 2 or 3 of them for you. Happens every time I take off no matter the load or speed.
  19. Hey guys. I have been dealing with this "tire blowing" issue since the last update. I know that it's not uncommon as I see all of the posts pertaining to it. So.....is it a reported bug? I've not heard anyone address it as such. If it's not, how do I avoid blowing tires upon takeoff these days? I've tried just about everything. Every time I take off this happens. It seems that as soon as I start to raise the nose of the AC......Blewey!:dunno:
  20. To me, this AC was THE aircraft in it's day. Nothing compared to it. Where do I sign up????????????????
  21. I'm not understanding you on this. There is a top, and a bottom on mine. You cannot approach from the pedal side because the bottom plate is pretty much all that comes off. When I took mine apart, there were only 2 springs that were very easy to get back into place. Do you have the more expensive pedals?
  22. I think that it is safe to say that no one who flies helis in DCS does it without rudder pedals. I don't know that I would even keep trying it without em. Just going to meet with frustration and failure most of the time. Sorry to break that news to you............................. Oh yeah.....and even after you get a set of pedals it's pretty hard to get the knack of it if you have never flown them before. My best advice about that is to just watch YouTube videos until you find one that works for you and don't give up on it. Even real heli pilots had a very difficult time of it when they started. It's not easy getting something off of the ground that wasn't meant to fly.
  23. Hmm...... I was looking at the boards last night. Pretty interesting.
  24. Maybe we'll know for sure when ColdViper opens his up to have a look. I'm thinking that they may have changed the board post production. I know that I was pretty surprised when I took it apart.
