If you can't find it in any shop (you need a part number first) then contacting Thrustmaster would be the next step. In general they respond quickly and probably will offer a spare replacement (at some cost off course). The contact form will do the job. https://support.thrustmaster.com/en/contact-en/

F14 not authorized / antivirus / false positive
Lange_666 replied to Semaphore's topic in Bugs and Problems
@SOLIDKREATE: I see in your screenshots that your AV still has a problem listed. If done everything right this shouldn't be. It should be green (same for your Firewall). You have to add the Eagle Dynamics folder (and your Saved Games folder while you're at it) exception to the AV "before" you run a repair. -

				VRAM question with Nvidia GPUs
Lange_666 replied to Mr_sukebe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
There's a difference in VRAM usage between in game measurement and measured with MSI Afterburner. The MSI one shows a much higher VRAM usage, sometimes more than 50%. -

				Looking for quality Headset w/Mic..
Lange_666 replied to The_Nephilim's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Recently bought a Logitec Pro X2 LightSpeed Wireless. I like it very much, a LOT better than the Corsair HS70 Wireless I used before. Fits nicely (everybody's head is different), not to tight, not to lose, lightweight, very good build quality (couldn't say that from the Corsair), direct connection when turned on (couldn't say that from the Corsair, very good battery life (couldn't say that from the Corsair either) so it's been a win, win, win move. https://www.soundguys.com/logitech-g-pro-x-2-lightspeed-review-92068/ -
Yup it did. However, FS2020 and FS2024 are, although released 14 and 18 years later, not on par with what FSX had in terms of ATC (or AI traffic which is even worse in 20/24).

Nvidia claimes that Game Ready 572.70 solves Black Screen
Lange_666 replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in 2D Video Bugs
+1 Switched to 566.xx series after using 516.94 and 537.58 because I wanted to play around a bit with a hacked frame generation tweak and DLSS settings in MSFS 2024 because MSFS2024 didn't show up in the profile setting in the NCP of the older drivers. Updated to 570.xx since, no black screens here. Maybe card dependent (using a 3080Ti with 2 monitors, one connected through DP, the other through HDMI)? -

Jeez dudes, get a life and fight it out in a PM chat. Nobody, but really NOBODY is interested in this. Moderators, isn't it time to put a lid on this topic? -

I have no clue if the symbolic links I posted are soft or hard (been reading a bit about the difference between them but after a few lines I lose it) but they do work. That is all that matters.

Best current CPU for DCS ( and a bit of MSFS)
Lange_666 replied to markturner1960's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software

Depends a bit. I had no problem with 32GB of RAM with my previous system is but decided to go for 64GB for the one I have now (2 years old now). With the Irak map I noticed it would use up to +40GB of RAM so if I only had 32 it would need to swap things around at some point which might cause a bit of stuttering while doing so, who knows. With 64GB that problem doesn't exist.... yet.

But then you're stuck with what DCS offers. Just ON/OFF. With the script you can add timers, delay's, sequences, chains, use flags to see in what state some buttons/switches are, change axis curves with the flip of a switch (I use that when refueling for some aircraft, the DCS F-16 does that too when opening the refuel door) etc... That can't be done from within the DCS controller setup. @hreich: Once you use the combined profile (when running a script) you only have 1 DX1 across "all" devices. Example: If your MFD_1 has 20 buttons and you want to use all of them you can set it up so MFD_1_Buttons_1 = DX1 and MFD_1_Buttons_20 = DX20 and then your MFD_2 will need to use DX21 to DX40 otherwise you have double functions. But you don't need to use a DX button everywhere. DX buttons are interesting because you can combine more than one and they can be activated "at the same time". For example, you can press 2 buttons together on your joystick with each their own DX button assigned and those commands will be carried out together, simultaneously. If you assign a keyboard command to each of those buttons, they will not be carried out together because you can not have your keyboard put out more than one character at the same time. To gain on DX buttons you can assign a keyboard command to those buttons from which you know they can act as stand alone. The DX button you don't use on that button you can then use elsewhere. I use a combo of both.

5090, nothing learned from the 4090 problems...
Lange_666 replied to TZeer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Then there is also this: -
I guess we talk a bit along each other. What do you mean by running a profile? You only talk about the throttle, what about the stick? When you run a script with the latest target version, you can define up to 120 DX buttons, spread over your combined setup. When the script runs, in DCS you can then set 120 DX buttons in the control section (+ 8 POV's which makes up 128). When not running a script (you have throttle and stick separated), 45 DX is the max for each device.
 -
@hreich: just give it a go with a small script which includes both stick and throttle and MFD's. You'll find out directly how it behaves. @GPatricks: Each device has his own range of buttons but only in a non-combined way (when running a script it's always combined). However, there's no need anymore to use a hacked target.tmh file to get 120 DX buttons across the combined setup, the latest T.A.R.G.E.T. version (3.0.24.618.rev1) has this included standard now.

HMCS Bore sight ellipse - TMS Up Short or TMS Up Long?
Lange_666 replied to Lixma 06's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yep TMS Up Long doesn't do that. Currently I'm (re-)learning the F-16 and it's difficult sometimes to get some stuff to work if I follow the steps in a video, certainly video's that are a few years old. -
Sometimes my TargetScriptEditor will crash while running a script while playing DCS. I get 2 entry's in the Event Viewer in Windows 11 (Pro version 23H2 latest) when this happens: Target version: TARGET_v3.0.24.618_rev1 The problem could not come from a script error since i haven't changed anything in my scripts since months and the error only is happening the last 2 weeks (today was the 3th time it happened). Searched a bit on the net but no solution just yet. (Tried Netrepairtool, Tried installing .Net 4 but doesn't continue because of already installed, etc...) Some Google results say Kernelbase.dll is corrupted but mostly it TargetScript runs without a problem and if it crashes it's only after half an hour or so. I also left a script running for a few hours without running DCS, no crash then. Errors in the Event Viewer: 1: Application: TARGETScriptEditor.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Yes, with symbolic links (I use them for terrains). https://www.howtogeek.com/16226/complete-guide-to-symbolic-links-symlinks-on-windows-or-linux/ https://forum.dcs.world/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=232380&key=08ba65db6bc435f2b85d397e67228f47

I have 12GB VRAM and that isn't enough either (and not only on the Iraq map). I can't say I notice that it's filled up entirely but I like to have some headroom. Because 12GB isn't enough anymore, I'm not that impressed with the 16GB max and the 256 bit bandwidth that the new nVidia 50 series below the 5090 have to offer. The gap between 5090 and the lower cards is just huge.

From Guru3D: https://www.guru3d.com/story/rumor-geforce-rtx-5090-limited-availability-at-launch/ "NVIDIA plans to release its new GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 graphics cards, yet reports suggest that availability at launch will be very restricted". "Technical reports point out that the RTX 5090 will be especially scarce during its initial release". This will already rise the price of the cards at launch.

For me the sound quality is fine (better than my previous Corsair HS 70 Pro) but my +60-year-old ears (with one having tinnitus) are not really a reference...
