  1. Consider it a teaser for the teaser.
  2. I read that India swapped out all of the refueling equipment on their Russian aircraft for NATO systems. If that is correct, the Mirage 2000C should be able to refuel with an Indian Il-78, but not with a Russian Il-78.
  3. DCS does not currently distinguish between NATO and Russian probe/drogue refueling systems. The Mirage will probably be able to refuel with both the IL-78 and the S-3 tanker, as well as any other drogue tankers that are added to DCS. Considering that the upcoming F/A-18C has a refueling probe, we can probably expect an improved NATO drogue tanker soon.
  4. At the very least we should get subpixel rendering of all targets out to the accepted "visual range"
  5. Maybe they put it on simmer instead of the freezer.
  6. I just made a mod for you that lets the P-51D take off from carriers. It works with both the Vinson and the Kuznetsov. Just copy the attached file to DCS World\Scripts\Database\planes P-51D.lua
  7. If the map is curved in EDGE, then my guess is scripting would be done with spherical coordinates instead. e.g. [theta, phi,r] or [lat, long,h]. Even if DCS doesn't do that, someone could write a function to convert spherical coordinate input to Cartesian. I am not too worried about it.
  8. They'll announce the MiG-15 release in the newsletter...
  9. Some of the buildings and static vehicles are present in both the NTTR and Avia videos. A notable example is the Ipermercato Froggy building. Of course we should not expect everything we see in the Avia videos to be in DCS, but some of the things are.
  10. Equipping the GBU may be for representing the capabilities of some of the export variants.
  11. The Canadian Leopard-2 has a German cross on it's specular map, which you can see if you get the lighting at just the right angle. I included a screenshot of the bug in the spoiler below. The cross is near the maple leaf on the turret.
  12. I have not flown the Hawk yet, so I can't really speak for it, but I would wait on the Hawk until it gets updated with an EFM. For now it still has an SFM so the flight model will feel like something from Lock-On. The Huey is currently my favorite helicopter in DCS. The systems are relatively simple compared to the A-10C so I can focus more on enjoying it and less on remembering how everything works. The Huey is only effective in combat against soft targets. With AI controlled door gunners on each side, you can rain destruction on enemy infantry and trucks. You can also take out some of the lighter armored vehicles, but it is almost impossible to take out a T-55, so don't even bother with tanks. The Huey is very vulnerable against anti aircraft. You have flares but no laser or missile warning system so it is best to avoid anywhere with known air defense. The Huey also has the nice option in the loadout screen of removing weapon pylons, which gives a more civil aviation experience. I like to fly around in the included NASA paint scheme like this.
  13. Your second statement in this quote kind of answers the first. If they estimate a time of release (because they honestly don't know) and they get it wrong, then people complain about them saying things that are not true, so it is easier to say nothing at all. I personally don't mind when target dates are missed (because that happens with all software development) but for some people it is a major drama causing issue.
  14. And now you can see him clicking here!
  15. Some steps can be taken in parallel : )
  16. Based on the F-86, but only 25% commonality. Some distinguishing features are the big radar in the nose, the afterburning engine, and being armed solely with unguided air to air rockets. It was designed to intercept bombers and nothing else.
  17. I think he thinks the voice sounds similar.
  18. Or perhaps a SEPECAT Jaguar lighting up targets for me.
  19. Looks like you have the wrong rocket pods loaded.
  20. Okay, I was looking over this NTTR video footage again and I noticed a spot that could use a minor tweak. Currently the Las Vegas Motor Speedway front stretch turns off from the pit road, but it would be better if it was the other way around because the front stretch is part of the main track. See my picture for an example of what I mean. I realize some inaccuracies are probably constraints of the EDGE road system, but this fix should be doable.
  21. Take a look at this screenshot from Mudspike. You can see a sub-meter noise pattern on the ground and a ~centimeter ground detail texture for the soil. The terrain will not just look like a blurry satellite image close up.
  22. That is a square space, so it is 100 times as much data.
  23. All I'm seeing is this.
  24. Speaking of sound, I am personally curious as to whether in-game background music will be a thing now. It would be pretty cool to get music like that as I am throttling up on the runway. I bring this up partly because in video it sounded like there was video music playing over top of in-game combat music during the F-86 dogfight.
