Can we have a March Monthly update please? :)
VincentLaw replied to SilentGun's topic in Heatblur Simulations
But he is in Sweden and the Swedish calendar week starts on Monday, so he meant this week. -
Citation please? I don't remember reading about map merging.

While lack of WSO/RIO player availability could be a problem, I also expect many pilots will not be willing to fly with a WSO/RIO that they do not know (based on the number of times a lock feature has been requested). back when I used to play Battlefield 2, there were many pilots who would refuse to take off if another player occupied the second seat in their AH-1. Finding a match may be difficult both directions.

While I do think it is unlikely ED will make the L-39 back seat free, it is wrong for you to state your assumptions as if they are facts. You are not a representative of ED. Only ED can say what ED is going to do.
-
The correct term for this is "blast wave".

There is no reason the autoupdater could not replace a .exe file just like any other file. There is nothing technical stopping it from being just another update, but you are probably less likely to encounter unexpected errors with a completely clean install.

If the new EDGE maps implement a curved Earth then it should be possible to orbit in the game (using a custom FM to get enough velocity), but I doubt that ED is adding a 3D moon with its own gravity to DCS 2.0.

Yes, some people are far too concerned about the money other people are spending (or not spending) rather than their own personal enjoyment of the product. Unless it can be determined that providing free access to the back seat reduces the number of modules that get sold, then I am mildly in favor of free back seat access. I believe increasing the potential exposure of DCS is likely (though not certain) to result in more modules being sold. I am not very likely to buy an entire module for someone if I am not sure if they will enjoy it, but if I have a free seat in my plane then I know multiple people I would encourage to try it out. Perhaps at the very least it should be left as an option to the developer, so if some third party developers want to provide free multiplayer back seats then they are able too, while other third parties could require all crew members to pay for the module. I would be interested in seeing both implementations.

I think LNS enjoys toying with their fan enthusiasm though. Such a rule would undermine the amusement of Leatherneck. -
DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
VincentLaw replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I bought DCS:A-10C beta specifically for the map because I wanted to fly the Ka-50 around Las Vegas. -

If you want to give extra money to LNS, nothing is stopping you from buying extra copies. You could even buy an extra MiG-21 right now. You should not judge the quality of an item by its price. I got into DCS when I found Black Shark in a bargain bin for $20 at Best Buy, but that $20 didn't stop me from thinking it was the best helicopter simulator I had ever played. If it had been $30 I might have passed it up at the time, and then I might not be into DCS at all. I think an accessible price for the F-14 will make it more successful than a high price. -

If they decide to charge for the A and B variants separately, I will not buy the A variant at all. I would rather have the newer variant and buying the F-14 is competing against other things I could buy. I realize some people here are completionists, but my wallet is not an infinite fountain of money that buys everything DCS. I would rather upgrade my joystick than buy a second copy of the same plane with different avionics. I strongly encourage developers to NOT get too carried away with paid upgrades and microtransactions. I don't want DCS: Horse Armor to be a thing. -

It's not really free if it is a consideration in the pricing of the item. At that price, I would wait for even the Tomcat to come on sale. I suspect they would make less sales and less money for anything much higher than $60. -
On the Black Sea map, some extra nonfunctional airfields are included as just a runway with nothing else. I frequently use the one near Kobuleti for target practice. Placing just a runway at an airport location is probably orders of magnitude easier than setting up buildings, taxiways, parking spaces, ATC, and anything else that is required for a functional air base in DCS.

Depends on the module. In a Cessna 172 the back seat should be free.
-
One of the problems with providing multiseat for free is that it would require the free rider to have all of the detailed cockpit files pre-installed, which are not small. As I have said in a different thread. I am all for allowing free access to passenger and door gunner slots (imagine if an infantry player could not board your Huey because they didn't own it), but I think getting free access to WSO/RIO/copilot slots would be quite a steal.

Looks like this was uploaded yesterday: A nice +4 minute run time. I think it is only shorter than the Flaming Cliffs 3 soundtrack.
-
Perhaps there are others who prefer to remain secret until they are close to release.

At high altitude with no drop tanks and no missiles you should be able to go that fast. At low altitude the max speed is around Mach 1.2.

That is actually graphite, not lead. It says so on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lead_(disambiguation)

F-14 low speed prowess vs Other Aircraft
VincentLaw replied to Hummingbird's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yes: Rotor blade flex is also modeled on all of the flyable helicopters. -
I am hoping it will be viable in single player to be a dedicated RIO with an AI pilot. In the Huey you can swap to the gunner seats, but it is not really possible to do an entire mission as a door gunner because the AI autopilot won't follow waypoints.
-
I think the OP is wondering where you get your blueprints from, not what software you use.
-
If you look at the original Flaming Cliffs 3 announcement, the Su-25T was originally considered a feature of FC3. It was later removed from the product description since the Su-25T is included for free with DCS World.

You are not actually required to use the module manager at all. You can just download and install this one and it should work: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/modules/dcs_a10c_warthog/ If you want to use the module manager with your copy of A-10C, try entering and binding your serial number to your E-shop account at this link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/personal/licensing/ Do not buy another copy of the A-10C.
