  1. so what you're saying is that if I make a blank tga file called TACTNUMBERS-USAF-BLACK (skin # 3? format??) and drop it in temptextures that will clear it up? I'm gonna have to look through some of my skins and see if I have one that already has this file in it I can just rename. Thanks.
  2. So I'm screwing around making skins for the F-15. How do you prevent the tail numbers and the badges on the sides of the fuselage from being displayed? It's not on my skin so it's got to be another file??

  4. I suggest you reread Ironhand's explanation because it's dead on. Think about it like this at sea level when the HUD(IAS) says 500 you are really going 500 (or pretty dam close) and IAS(speed indicated by the pressure in the pitot tube) and TAS(speed over the ground) will be about equal. If you were to maintain the same TAS, as you get higher into thinner air the pressure in the pitot tube decreases and the IAS goes down while the TAS would stay the same. Short answer (as stated above) is that at high altitude the speed indicated in the HUD(IAS) does not give you an accurate account of your speed over the ground(TAS). But that's why there is a gauge which shows both. Does that make any more sense?

  6. I will get it resolved. you put in some good work! Google GIMP, it's a freeware photoshop equivalent that can work with PSD files (amon many others). It's what I used to make the skin.
  7. OMG I'm a moron....I downloaded your template and somehow got Goya's name in my head...then gave thanks to Goya in the skin description!! Doh! I have PM'd Thomas at lockonfiles and hopefully he can update the description! Excellent template made creating the skin sooo easy!! As far as the thin lighter band I thought about cleaning it up, but I kind of liked the effect it gave...

  11. Thanks for the offer, but I just don't care I guess. Being my first skin if nothing was wrong with it I might get a big head...lol I made it for myself so I'll just pretend I designed it that way :)

  13. I don't have a problem with the way the pave penny looks really, but that wierd blob is messing with my head. It doesn't show up in the image editor, or the payload preview, just in the 3-D world. I guess I will just have to live with it...
  14. i should have marked it....look just below the punisher logo on the left nose side there's a white mark that shouldn't be there.

  20. I thought of something really sick that's sure to drive the hardcores insane... Total conversion, like mechs for ground vehicles, macross veritechs for fighters...something crazy for the carrier and other naval vessels. I mean since you can only change visual things might as well have fun with it. Is there a large Japanese lomac following by any chance???
  21. Still no DCS or plans for one as far as I know. You might want to check out "lockon mission randomizer" which basically allows you to design missions that never play out the same. Might be up at lockonfiles, and I think ruggbutt released a LMR mission pack not too long ago.
  22. Is there anyway to change the animations? There's a new mod out that let's you fly the F-14 with the hook, but the wings stay out all the time, as the wing fold command thinks it's folding up the su-33's now invisible wings which won't fold in flight(as it should be). Is it possible to link the wing sweep animation for the F-14 to the flaps? ie when I delpoy flaps the FM thinks I lowered the flaps, but the external animation that runs is of the wings sweeping forward, and reverse flaps up is wings swept back? Where is the animation call and can it be edited?
  23. So lemme see if I got this right... You can't use this to add new flyables unless they replace a flyable (with its corresponding FM/avionics), so the su-33 is still the one-trick-pony for making new carrier aircraft? You can use this to add new static stuff and maybe relocate an airbase. But can new terrain be created and the map be expanded??
  24. Anyone else tried the new F-14 w/tailhook mod at lockonfiles yet? Works like a charm. Making use of US carrier is so much more interesting due to the capabilities of the Hornet, and the AIM-54 is a nice piece of kit. Now the questions... Is there anyway to get a catapult shot for the player A/C? Is it possible to change the flaps animation to wing sweep? Like flaps up wings swept, flaps down wings extended? Meaning as far as the FM is concerned I'm changing my flap setting, but the animation that plays is the wings. Does that make sense?
