mission editor delay takeoff of bandits
Colt40Five replied to zoot's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
To set takeoff time, select the flight, select waypoint 0, set to takeoff. You will see a time below that. Edit the time to whatever you want it to be. As far as takeoff for interception of a specific threat you can place an EWR and set a flight to GAI (will only be one icon on airbase no waypoints) and then when the threat is detected the flight is launched. Someone else can probably be more specific about ranges etc. I haven't used it much. -
It's one of the three skins ED released in their skin pack. You can get the pack at lockonfiles.com.

yeah tflash why don't you submit a mission or two to lockonfiles so we can try em out?

Ok sorry for being WAY off topic..but is that Su-25 in your sig a LO skin?? If it is where can I get it and if not why not?? It's awesome! Would be extra sweet if it could be adapted to the 25T. I wish I had some artistic talent... -
Lock On is slowly but surely vanishing from the radar
Colt40Five replied to a topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
and let's not forget that we will hopefully see Fighter Ops and Jet Thunder before 2008... And if that wings over Europe is not a huge improvement over WoV, I will probably pass. The FM's were terrible, and the so called "random missions" that they claim as a DC is so far from a DC it's not funny. Don't let the acolytes of SFP1 hear this, but it was too arcade for me. Fun for a quick dogfight but that's about it. -
Some member of this site has a pic in his sig of an Su-25 that had the front painted to look like a shark. The effect with the shape of the A/C was awesome. I searched and couldn't find a thread with it, and I don't remember his name, but I think it was this Czech paintscheme: http://www.airwar.ru/transfer/grishan///camms/ar/43/pics/4_2.png I think that would be a wicked skin. escecially if it could be done on the 25T :icon_supe

R77 and multi pylons in the su33?
Colt40Five replied to Ardillita's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Speaking of realism...where's the R40 tactical nuke??? I have information that MiG-29A's were training with them (dummies anyway) in the 80's! They used a very interesting deployment method of pulling a loop and lofting the bomb almost vertical then beating feet to escape...and then could only use their analog systems to get home as the EMP would disable everything else... and why can't I siphon off the cooling alchohol from my A/C's systems to get my simulated ground crew hammered? the Mig-25 was called the "flying cocktail bar" for the massive amounts of this alchohol it used. :icon_jook When Gorbachev went on his anti-alchohol campaign in the 80's usage of these "coolants" skyrocketed among VVS and PVO units...lol -
AJ- If you had to you could use a hacksaw. since the lenghts of PVC slip into the joints a super precise cut is unnecessary...so long as you keep the exposed sections of PVC the same length. Gazehound- sorry you can't know the joy of loading up ammo for your own use! But instead of lead bullets..you could fill the lower sections of PVC with sand. that would provide adequate weight albeit without the convenience of being able to keep them lightweight for storage/transport.

Glad to incease your comfort! Amazing how much 20 odd bucks can improve you experience so much eh? :icon_supe

That's the ticket! Renamed, made a new pack and bingo! Thanks alot :icon_supe

I've never had a problem with my plane flying itself....odd. I know some people complained about big deadzone on early production units, but i don't have that either. And as far as hitting buttons by accident...never had that either. the handrest is adjustable up and down so that your thumb can be in easy reach of all controls no matter your hand size. But maybe my experience is not typical? If you are in much doubt I suggest you go to a retail store where they are sold ad get your hands on it. but, like I said i've had mine for 1.5 years and it's been a solid performer.

X-52 is heavier than it looks...I thought the same thing until I went into a compusa and actually felt one...and then I bought it :) the spring tension on the stick is nice too, and if it's still not heavy enough for you you can just put another spacer(like pilotasso) under the spring. and i can't say enough about the adjustable tension on the throttle. you can set it as stiff or loose as you like.
-
hey snom...go to ch-hangar and do a search on their forums for the franken-potato mod...you'll see why he said semi-original! :) Amraam, YES U NEED HOTAS lol Sriously it owns a single stick setup I can heartily recommend the X-52. It's the best HOTAS for the money imho. It has twist stick you want, and is fully programmable (3 modes + shift function for all buttons in each mode). Arched throttle is tension adjustable and has AB detent and 2 rotaries(which CH doesn't. see above mod what someone had to do for a rotary!). there's a discussion at SimHQ you might want to read... http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=140;t=001838 As you'll read I feel kinda strongly about what a good value the X-52 is. Unless you're willing to spend a grand for a modded cougar the X-52 is the way to go for features vs. cost. I've been abusing mine for a year and a half now with no problems.

my rests aren't attatched to my chair...they are freestanding consoles. did you follow the link?? I know it's kinda hard to see them in the pic.

Hey tasso if you want to get your X-52 off your desk check my rather cheap solution out. Instructions buried somewhere in this thread: http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=37;t=006889#000000 BTW how do you guys get your images to show up as thumbnails???

I think peforming a hammerhead is impossible with the standard FM (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!). just as it's impossible to stall and then flip backwards...or do the cobra and then flip backwards...something screwy about the FM at the stall. Some of these maneuvers can be performed by failing the FLCS (set to 100% in the failures tab). Then you fly in proportional mode without the assistance of the regular FLCS. Takes some getting used to, but you can pull some crazy maneuvers!

I'm no graphic artist, but I sometimes make posters of images I've collected of the net for my gaming room (I have a sweet hookup on printing). Whipped one up for LO today and thought I'd share with anyone interested. Poster is 36" wide by 24" high. 1940kb file here.

Any Way to Change Burn Duration of Vehicles?

no joy on (60,2)...and you just send me on any wild goose chases you want, if it means I get this sorted :) -
Any Way to Change Burn Duration of Vehicles?
Colt40Five replied to Colt40Five's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
well, there are fire values in that table for vehicles. they look like this (300,2) I tried editing both numbers and shot one(bmd-1) next to another(bmp-1) with unedited values. I tried (400,2) and (300,4) with no appreciable difference in burn time. No difference in anything really, so it's hard to say what they actually do. i tried to find comparable numbers somewhere for buildings (they burn good) and couldn't find them... -
BLACKSEA OPERATIONS CANCELLED!!! - until further notice
Colt40Five replied to VVanks's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
IMHO all you BSO guys owe beerdog $$$$$ for paying to host the blackseaops site for a whole year for NOTHING! How unbelieveble rude that he had to learn about it from my post at SimHQ...Man up and take care of your responsibilites to someone who had faith in you and wanted to help the community. And not because you're legally obligated, but because it's right! -
After I built my new rig (when I was still playing 1.02) I made a mission to see what it took to get me into single digit FPS...I have updated the mission for FC and both the 1.02 and FC versions are up at lockonfiles as a mission pack. Here's links to threads about them at SimHQ. First link is old from 1.02 days, second is for the FC one. basiclly they are the same mission just tweaked for each install. http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=146;t=000645 http://www.simhq.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=146&t=000789#000002

I'll have a go...I'm sure someone will be along to correect me shortly :) Basically flaps increase lift. With enough runway to get up to speed any plane can take off without flaps (well except cases where the A/C design prevents certain AOA's due to tail scrape). They're really more important for landing, as you must maintain a generally low speed with a proper angle of attack and sink rate. also important for taking off with a short roll or heavy load (like taking off from carrier where you don't have full flying speed when you leave the ramp). to perform the Cobra, maintain about 400km/h, pull back on the stick kind of sharply, and hit [K]. The Cobra is a scripted maneuver in LO, which means once you meet the requirements to do it, a script takes over and performs the maneuver. Hope this helps!
