You have to set all the STPTs to "refueling" (well except T/O and landing). If you set any of them to "turning point" then it won't act right until it hits the next "refueling". Hope this helps!

Su-25 mission - US landing at Sudak
Colt40Five replied to Weta43's topic in User Created Missions General
Ok I finally got around to flying your mission....I'd say it's pretty realistic. My escorts and my flight were waxed by F-14's 10nm after take-off, which is exactly what I'd expect IRL if Tomcats are on the prowl. Doesn't make for compelling gameplay though... Couple of suggestions... First: No tomcats unless the player A/C is in a fighter and can do something about them... :) Second: Many people will have problems running this mission due to the number of units in it. A good rule of thumb is to only place units on the map that are involved in the mission, or are visible eye-candy along the player flight path. For example you could do away with all the short-range red ADS that has no bearing on the target area. In a perfect world FC could have as many units as an F4 campaign and run great...but this ain't a perfect world. I'm gonna tweak it to my taste, and then if you want, I'll host it here and you can see what I'm talking about. -
Su-25 mission - US landing at Sudak
Colt40Five replied to Weta43's topic in User Created Missions General
Why not host them at lockonfiles.com? And I've never heard of the terrain thing..is it in a specific spot? I made a mission pack of some low-alt valley runs(available at lockonfiles). Some of them are quite long and I've never encountered this phenomena. -
hmmm I think I was alot closer than 60km (more like 20km) when the GAI flight finally took off to intercept me. Going to have to do some testing. Is the detection dependant on LOS with the GAI airfield's radar? I was thinking maybe there was a data edit I could do to to increase the range without going to the infinite EWR/AWACS.
-
when I search for GAI I get nothing (not even this thread). I also searched for "detection range" and didn't find any help either. And I don't need to know exactly what the detection range is for a GAI flight to activate, I need to know if there's a way to extend the range... short of adding an EWR which gets the GAI flights up too early.
-
Is there anyway to increase the detection range of a GAI flight short of an EWR? If you put an EWR up they just all take off. I'm looking for some middle ground between regular detection range and with EWR. Any help appreciated!

Full Throttle with the Blue Angels
Colt40Five replied to Ice's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I've seen the Blues over 2 dozen times, and you're in for a treat! Best one was a low-alt show (due to overcast conditions) in Alabama a few years ago. Turnin' and burnin' low as hell right over the crowd! I'd never seen that before, and I'll remember the feeling in my chest from the engines forever! -
Love the skins Hendrix!! Any more in development? If you need ideas there's a couple of Su-30 skins I'd like to see become reality for use with the Su-30 mod that replaces the Su-33...

Slightly OT: What're you lookin at??
Colt40Five replied to S77th-konkussion's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I don't think the word "strap-on" should ever be used in conjunction with a military product... -
The only time I ever use trim is when carrying an assymetrical load in the 25T, and that is rare. What I do is let Alt HLD trim the A/C for me. Once I'm turning and burning trim is irrelevant as long as it's close.

Two versions at lockonfiles (must be registered to download) this one: And this one:

already been done. check lockonfiles.com.

way OT: current Su-33 situation in russian navy
Colt40Five replied to AerialHawk's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I doubt there is anything wrong with the Su-33, but the Kutz has and will spend more time in dock than it ever will at sea due to the $$$ situation in the Russian military. -
OT: Any Fighter Ops Insider here?
Colt40Five replied to Omega Oska's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Why shouldn't it be quiet they don't have a sim yet! I hope they can pull it off, but I'm definitely in "wait-and-see" mode. Another one I have high hopes for is Jet Thunder. At least with them you can see some screens and vids of WIP in-game stuff (for free no less). -
I have the greatest respect for the aviation indusry of Russia. I think they do more with less than anyone on the planet. The fact is that Brains is not the issue here, money is. Unless something dramatic happens in the monetary fortunes of the Russian Air Forces, they will continue to have to do more with less for the forseeable future. Just look at some of the amazing A/C they have that have been in development since the late 80's that they just cannot afford to purchase in any serious numbers(ka-50, su-25t, MiG-29M/SM, etc). Also when the Soviet union broke up a significant portion of the aviation industy and equiptment went to the new republics. Add to that the limited number of flight hours they can afford to give their pilots for training and you have a recipe for hard times. All of which is a true shame. I could give a crap less about the poltics of it all, I just love planes. I would love to see what a fully funded Russian aviation industry could come up with. but IMHO they will not be able to field (they can develop all they want) a system to match the raptor/jsf in any significant numbers.

Oh Goody! If you make one for the Su-30 as well you'll be my hero!
-
For all of F4's vaunted "realism", it has one awesome unrealistic feature. A moving kneeboard map :)
-
Do you want the image for a skin? Because it already exists...
-
So lemme get this straight...the point of the vid is to tell you to pull up when the audible "pull up" sounds?....genius that, never would have figured...

Interesting read on terrain rendering in FlightSim 10
Colt40Five replied to dodger42's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Great article! I found this bit particularly interesting: "Someday, Flight Simulator may stream all of its terrain imagery from a central server such as Microsoft’s Virtual Earth (http://ve.msn.com). However, that day hasn’t arrived yet for a variety of reasons [20]. For one, Flight Simulator does not require a broadband Internet connection, so we can’t rely on a network streaming solution. Second, raw aerial photographs, even high resolution ones, look surprisingly poor when draped over terrain." Microsoft says "all Ur Earth belong to us." -
Here's a track of my best:joystick: Mig-29C demo.... :megalol: If this new sim has fm's at least this good(hopefully with better modelling at the stall), but it's a well modelled F-16??..should be fun if it's not too $$$ for what it is. C45-MiG-29C-Demo.zip

What I really want is a BE-200 and the ability to place forest fires on areas of the map... http://www.sme.sk/cdata/2350271/20050822006_Be200_big.jpg

This has nothing to do with XSI as far as I can tell. completely different company. In the article I linked to above it says that they have all kind of access to Air Force data and whatnot, which makes me think that FO is gonna have some stiff competition until they get a combat module and dynamic campaign released whenever they get around to that. Especially if its price point is significantly lower than what I have heard rumored about what to expect from FO. I wasn't too excited at first as I like to blow things up, but depending on how the FM's and graphics are it might be really sweet to be able to fly a show from the #4 spot of the Thunderbirds. I soend alot of time in FC just doing acrobatics...cause Fc just "feels" like flying to me better than any other combat sim out right now.

USAF Pilot Training: Road to the ThunderBirds Announced http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=67071 Looks like flight only...no combat, but the whole flying with the thunderbirds thing might be really cool. reading the announcement makes it sound exactly what FO plans to offer for its first release...except this sim actually has a release date!
