  1. Change from metric to imperial. It screwed NASA, and you too it seems.
  2. I would be all for anything that makes for more realistic landings. P.S. Ground effect takes effect within 1 full wingspan on the ground.
  3. Isn't the F-111 the only aircraft that can do the dump & burn anyways? It's a cool idea, but somewhat pointless, as there is no F-111 in LOMAC.
  4. Here is a cool video of an F-22 performing at an airshow at Langley recently... http://semperapollo.com/Quickstart/VideoLib/Langley2006/Raptor.mpg Note the Cobra about a fifth of the way through, very cool stuff here....
  5. Looks like the airplane is up around 30,000 feet to me, and that's what it looks like up there....
  6. I think the 6800 GT is really hard to find. I have one, but unfortunately, I'm not willing to part with it, and I had to buy mine from my step-brother who bought his when they first came out, so I'd search for the Ultra or the X850XT.;)
  7. Nice, getting it now.
  8. Make sure your joystick settings are set correctly. I like the smoothing to be set to almost zero, so I can make precise adjustments, and I like some curvature, but not too much. Once I figured out that that was my problem (mostly the smoothing), I went from wasting all my gun ammunition on one Su-17, to shooting it down in less than 30 seconds.
  9. That doesn't sound quite right. I was at the 9/11 portion of the American History Museum at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. and there was a story about F-16 pilots that were scrambled that day. Doesn't really make sense to scramble them unarmed.
  10. Because the A-10 has some dihedral built in, it should roll itself back to level, but that is only if it begins to sideslip, so it could be possible that it wouldn't roll itself back lavel. But then again, like shamandgg said, it is Lock-On.;)
  11. Do you have the vector add-on? If you do, you can move your head forward, then hit the "center" button, and when you return to your normal, regular centered position, you will be positioned a bit farther back.
  12. Ohhhh, I didn't notice that one before, that is kind-of scary looking. I'd think he probably had it under control though, as he didn't crash. Also, I guess I've never been to 90 degrees of bank before, and I did 60 for the first time last fall for my BFR, along with the "old" way to do lazy-eights, and that was the most extreme flying I had ever done, but hopefully not the most extreme I'll ever do.:D
  13. No problem at all, that's why we're here isn't it, to discuss these kinds of things. ;) I'll agree with you that if he was going close to the stall speed it could have been dangerous, but he was really moving. Also, if you watch at 1:06 is when he starts the roll after the pass, and he never really goes past 90 degrees, which is just like a really steep turn. I've done steep turns up to 60 degrees in a Cessna 172, and trust me, it really feels like you're almost past 90 degrees, and the airplane really flies almost the same, but an F-4 is built for that kind of manuevering, so I'd think it would be alright, as long as he didn't stall, becuase that would just end badly.
  14. PPL #2809...*, I would never, ever do anything like this while I was flying. My comment was just a joke, sorry to offend you with a harmless comment. Rolling 90 degrees while you are that close to the ground shouldn't really be that dangerous, unless the pilot is a complete idiot and is still in the mindset of "pull the stick, houses get smaller", or the F-4's engines are carburated (a joke, smile, laugh, have fun) or something other than that that would cause the engines to quit. Wings sure as hell don't care which direction the ground is, which should have been one of the things that was pounded into your head during ground school. I have to agree with the others here that the jet-blast as the F-4 flew over the hill was the most dangerous part, as he pulled up immediately after cresting the hill, directing the blast straight at the people on the hill. There are stories of people being blown off the sides of carriers because they accidentally walked behind aircraft with their engines running, so I hate to imagine what could have happened to those people on the hill. You can bet that if I were the CO there and I knew that had happened, those pilots would get their asses chewed, but since I'm not the CO, and I'm obviously an idiot when it comes to these things, I'll sit back and enjoy the video of a bit of fancy flying, because as far as I know, nobody got hurt. If someone is doing what they think is a "cool" stunt and people got hurt, there is no denying that they were a straight-up idiot, and there is no excusing that, and that person should be grounded. But to condemn every stunt like this as dangerous and stupid, that's going a little far. Do you think the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds should get rid of the F/A-18s and F-16s and get kites, because they are going way too fast and way to high? Or have you ever sat in awe and watched them doing "cool" stunts? *I didn't want to put my whole number on the web, becuase there are all kinds of sickos out there, and I really don't know what could happen with it, probably nothing, but better safe than sorry...
  15. "Super-dangerous" means "Super-cool" to a fighter pilot, I would have figured you guys would have known that.:D
  16. Reason I like it, is in a furball, it's a good close range, fire-and-forget missile, that you can just pop off quick so no-one gets behind, like they could if you had to keep lock for the Sparrow.
  17. Hey all, when I installed the 1.12a patch, I lost what seems like half of my Cougar profile, I can still use some of the buttons and they do what they're supposed to, but some others (like the main hat switch, and the radar cursor stick) don't work anymore. It seems like some of the default buttons were maybe changed, and I don't know what they were or how to fix it, does anyone know what the problem might be, or how to fix it. Also, I enabled the cockpit mouse look, but it seems like that disabled my TrackIR, I was just wondering if anyone knew how to fix this also. Thanks.:)
  18. :D You printed out all 716 pages in color on the company printer? Nice... :D
  19. I heard that many of the people that have tried these get horrible headaches and feel sick. But it would still be interesting to try. Little too expensive though.:)
  20. Hey all, I just got Hyperlobby working, and I was just wondering a few things. -Are there any "universal" rules I should follow (like no ECM, or something along those lines)? I just want to join a game and not be afraid that I'm p***ing people off. -Is there a way to choose where you start, whenever I started, it would seem that I was 150 miles away from anything, and I would have to fly for 10 minutes before getting any radar contacts or anything. -Is the point of every game just to shoot the other team down? I just want to know how people are playing, so I can join in and play right, so everyone can enjoy it. Thanks, I'll probably have more questions later. Hopefully see some of you on HL.:D
  21. So if I don't have it anymore, is that going to cause problems?
  22. Does anybody know what the "Backup_1.1" file in the main Lock-on folder is for? I seem to have made it go away ;), but everything seems to work fine still, I was just wondering if it was like the appendix of the Lock-on folder.:D Thanks.
