  1. how did you remove the head ?
  2. Yes the alt hold mode is very sensitive kicks off if vertical speed changes a little, and I never use FTR before I use stick without springs and don't trim ....oh well thanks for the help Edit , hitting FTR first then att hold works great , actually holds heading well now .... Thanks !
  3. Forgive me if known issue with new patch but I can't get my attitude hold to work anymore and I try with a very steady hover ... tell me i'm missing something stupid ,....
  4. Sorry just my experience from cold start, disregard i spoke too soon
  5. Yeah my situation in a hotel for 20 days at work and they won't port forward .....
  6. Sorry if this doesn't belong in here but thought it would be of interest to all Longbow aficionados, I modded my x45 so the stick stays put , like the clutches in VKB base or Virpil. takes 15 minutes, some small 1/4 to 5/8 hose clamps and some mechanical skill ! Also have to cut a slot in the clear plastic gimbal " bearing" I used a dremel cutting wheel which went quick then cleaned up bits of melted plastic around slot then put hose clamp over the bearing put on black gimbal end and tighten until stick feels good but doesn't fall with gravity. . Sorry should've took more photos but it's pretty self explanatory, and the great thig is it works well. No more trimming . Also took rudder tiller spring out and it has enough resistance in potentiometer that i didn't need to mod anything to tighten it down. So no trimming in yaw or stick. Everything stays put . cost me 5 bucks for the hose clamps. I also long ago removed stick spring and the piece it rode on , with the round plastic spring carrier piece removed I could pull stick through enough from bottom to get both gimbal bearing plates out to get clear plastic pieces off. If I go back to fix wing I'll use my back up X56 I've had this x45 since at least 2005.
  7. great thank you !
  8. Sorry not at my computer to update OB
  9. That's the problem shelve them and wait to play them in all their glory or burn yourself out now at lesser performance and never want to touch it again ( happened with me and the A10 ) But to me the Longbow is immortal, as is the Hornet . I could jump in either one at any time and be content. (hopefully forever and ever) And we don't even have FCR yet !
  10. I have seen this if I hover IGE and edge it forward to 5-7 knots she really starts climbing on landing approach i just try to keep a constant airspeed and lowering collective slowly then pull back to stop and adjust collective as needed it's definitely a lot to control at once and have to be ready on the pedals etc. My problem is the collective isn't very nimble has a large dead zone I have to move my joystick quite a bit to actually move the collective stick not sure if that's on my side or meant to be that way
  11. so turn mirror off good idea .. are you using 512 or 1024 for cockpit res and every frame or not ? thanks on my old geforce 880m had to crank that down to 512 every other frame really helped with TADS especially TV selected ....afraid to update to 2.8 until i get new laptop ....
  12. Do you still get the odd sudden bank to the left like a large wind just blew you over in a hover ? Very annoying when you have a perfect hover no SAS saturation and this happens repeatedly, I'm putting this on the shelf until the FM gets figured out, I'm still glad I bought it in EA though shes a beauty
  13. I tried no spring on my x45 and man it was a lot of work , yes very sensitive but had to hold it all the time was a work out , maybe you have friction in your x56 ?
  14. thanks everyone I'll try some of these suggestions . edit; just tried center trim mode and once i figured out how to get control again it works a lot better for me , thank you again
  15. I don't understand when I'm using instant trimming on cyclic and rudder when i put my controls where i want them and hit the trimmer button the green and white boxes overshoot lurching the helicopter and the red x trim is way off from where i wanted it what am i doing wrong? really want to invest in joystick with clutches that hold the stick in position and do away with the trimming altogether
  16. I’ve thrown my hotas aside and using keyboard works much better can actually move where I want and hover perfectly but still get knocked over by what seems a random large gust of wind usually when lasing a target and firing hellfire I get the saturation tone it’s very annoying I disconnect attitude hold and settle her down then put in Att hold again
  17. My alt hold works great at first then gets into a fatal oscillation if not disengaged at hover , att hold works ok but my nose keeps wandering left and right . been flying this since day 1 and still there are times when i get into a great hover then it's like a gust of wind hits me and i'm at a large bank angle the torque goes nuts and i'm all over the place. I'm just having George fly it now and i'm shooting from cpg I pretend i'm flying it by commanding AI pilot !

  19. Still can't get heading hold i have to make small adjustments in yaw constantly but it's better thank you
  20. wow thanks been dealing with this quirk since I first started flying it so long ag o ....
  21. I think it means if you had attitude hold on you were manually commanding flight controls outside the limits of the SAS control , did you have an aural warning tone as well ?
  22. with the updated att hold it holds my hover pretty steady... if you're drifting a little it will lock in the drift, if you have a stable hover it will lock the hover , much better than it was
  23. Be aware if you're drifting right or left fore or aft it will keep that drift in att hold, try to get the best hover you can before hitting att hold...
