Mvh Brian

Who will win the race between the Mi-24 and the OH-58?
bmbpdk replied to Razorback's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
I will buy the Hind, no doubt about it. The Hind have something about it that no other helicopters have, something unique, something captivating, something hypnotising. The Kiowa? Only if i go serious multiplayer and join a squadron that requires it. Im disappointed that we dont get the Hind before christmas, but i fully understand and respect why. It would be better for them to wait until summer or even late ´21 to releasing the Hind if that is what it takes. Its ready when its ready. Realistically i think we will get the Hind late ´21 or early ´22. I dont want another "Viper launch". -
I assume that its because the F-16 is no way near as "mature" as the F/A-18. The F-16 still needs a lot of development before its worthwhile to make a campaign for it. Dont forget that campaigns can still be made by the campaign developers even though the Viper aint mature yet, they could just be waiting for the F-16 developers to "catch up" before they release. This is a geusstimate, but i dont think that any campaigns will come out for the Viper in the first quarter of 21. There are still a lot of sensors, systems and weapons to be developed for the Viper to make interesting campaigns.

AI logic in DCS World:
-
I agree that any helicopter can hover and suggesting that it cant is borderlining madness and only proof the ignorance on the subject and lack of common sense of the person suggesting that. And thank you for the book reference, i own several books by Mr. Gordon and Mr. Komissarov, they are my most trusted sources on Soviet/Russian aviation. I guess the one you suggested is next in line :-)
-
About the "Hover" subject in this thread: In this old book: "Soviet Helicopters, design, development and tactics" ISBN 0 7106 0259 6 by John Everett-Heath, page 90, 3rd paragraph it states: Quote: "With experience gained from the "Hook", the Mil OKB examined in depth the use of stub wings on helicopters to augment lift and stability in forward flight, and extend the performance envelope. In this particular instance, by offloading the rotor by perhaps as much as 25% or more at optimum speed, payload and range and speed can be raised and turn radius can be reduced. ...In the hover, however, the wings interfere with the rotor downwash and relatively more power is required. End of Quote My understanding is that he is talking about the Mi-24A model, since this book is from 1983 and the A-model is mentioned several times before. So the wings DOES makes hover harder, but not impossible, it sound more like its the engine power thats the limiting factor, not the wings themselves.

bmbpdk replied to laertesson's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
That is great news for sure! Eagle Dynamics: Please check that youtube have allowed your video in all countries. I get the "This video is not available in your country". Perhaps because of the pathetic and stupid new youtube policies? -

Help to identify Tornado version/nationality.
bmbpdk replied to bmbpdk's topic in Military and Aviation
According to Panavia, https://www.panavia.de/operations/squadrons/germany/, the Luftwaffe moved its trainingcenter to Schleswig, wich is just south of the Danish/German border, roughly 150NM south of where the photo was taken, so its very plauseable that its Luftwaffe birds. And as far as i can read, they, Taktische Luftwaffengeschwader 51 „Immelmann“ (TaktLwG 51„I“), uses ECR and IDS Tornados. On a sidenote: I really missed research and investigation like this, everything is to easy now a days, so when you actually have to do some digging and brainwork, its kind of satisfying. -

Thank you for your suggestion. Im also leaning towards the ECR version myself, primarily because of the lack of guns. I dont know the Tornado that well, so its just a guesstimate from me. -
As title says. Photography taken 29. October 2019 over my area in Denmark, ie. mid-western Jutland. Tornado´s visit us here a few times a year, and sometimes im lucky enough to have my camera around.

You are welcome.

Hello all. I asked RDAF some questions, primarily about the F-16, and i have attached the reply in a text file. questions..txt

Thanks for the tips.

Oh... My... God... I had the level hold on and since i have "Sync with HOTAS" on, everytime i start a mission, the autohold turns on...... Im sorry for bothering you....

Hi all, im experiencing violent random pitchup in the viper. Changing speed or AOA does not help, i recalibrated my joystick, no help and i reentered the joystick axis in the settings, no joy, so i guess its something to do with DCS, perhaps a fault in the FBW or perhaps a bug since it happens in different missions as well? Thanks in advance.
-
Oh sorry, i thought it was the Thrustmaster HOTAS, i misread that. Im sorry, i cant help you there.
-
Hey jens. You should take a look at the axes assignment tab and ignore the "Thrust/throttle" assignment. It should say "Left Throttle" and ""Right Throttle" just below it.

I must have misunderstood the word "focus" and the "more airfields will be added later" then. No doubt that they would sell more if they added just three or four airfields in the regions i mentioned, instead of dead-on accurately placing buildings in Dubai. With all respect to ED, this is a combat flight simulator, not a civilian aviation sim. I believe that there are more customers interested in a Iraq/Saudi/Kuwaiti airfields than some arabs house. Flying over your own house or through the streets quickly gets boring, low level Mach 1 sneak attack on Iraqi or Iranian airfields and oilinfrastructure dont. Perhaps they focused on the beautypart and got "lazy" on the function-part. Technically the name is correct, but i think its borderlining misleading, and is more a PR/sales tactic than something the ED mapmakers would come up with. But yes, lets hope that one day there will be a expansion pack for the map, or a "remake/remodel" like the A-10C and Ka-50 cockpit. Time will tell.
-
Thanks for your answer. As the map is at this moment, just one kuwaiti and iraqi airfield, and perhaps 2-3 in saudiarabia would do wonders for the region and scenarios. Im suprised/disappointed that they included those northern areas, but didn give them any thought. The Basrah region is not just flat desert, its full of little villages, wetareas, canals, oildericks, old and in-use airfields/strips/ports. A very interesting area i must say. As you say, the map should be renamed "DCS: Straits of Hormuz".

Hi all, i was wondering if the PG map is considered complete by ED? I read a post by Wags, that said that the map size is done, but that airfields would be added later. That post was from september 2018, and considering the immense opportunities the PG area have, adding Iraqi, Kuwaiti and Saudi Arabian airfields would only seems logical. But as we are writing 2020, nothing have been added yet in the above areas. Have i missed some newsletters or announcements, or will there be added more airfields in the above areas?

Wow, these looks really very well made! Looking forward to be downloading them!
