  1. Ssd prices are pretty low right now. Lots of them on newegg at less than $1/gb. Wish I would have waited a few months now since the one I got is $40 cheaper now. Hopefully the prices keep falling.
  2. If I'm not mistaken you will only be able to fly the aircraft you have keys entered for. So in your case the missus will only be able to fly the bs and su-25
  3. Try using auto config for your ram and load the xmp. That will set the ram to the factory specified specs.
  4. When I first started using head tracking I too found it hard to get used to. After a while I got used to it and it makes a big difference. I found what works best for me is to disable the head position tracking. I use facetracknoir but the principle is the same. I was having a hard time viewing the hud and such when it was tracking my head position. I use only the head yaw and pitch. Maybe one day I'll try the others again. Setting up a dead zone in the sim options helped for landings and such as I could move my head a good amount with the view staying locked ok the hud.
  5. What is you cpu usage on each core? The sim runs on one core and the sound on a second core. So I'm guessing one core is maxed and the other is not being maxed out which would be why the resource monitor is reporting your cpu not being fully utilized. For example if you running a single thread program one core is being used at 100% and the second core at 0% the total cpu usage reported by the resource monitor would be 50%
  6. You are at the minimum specs for bs2. BS2 and A10 are more cpu intensive than gpu. So there is more of an impact from cpu power than gpu power. Dcs from what I've read on the forums isn't very laptop friendly. Sure it will run but no where near as well as on a desktop. On my system running on a 1080p monitor I average about 40-45 fps.As for getting better framerate in A10 that I can't answer...as far as I know both BS2 and A10 use the exact same engine.
  7. Pc specs? The first thing I would check would be you video card configuration program. Make sure you use in game aa and af not forced at driver level.
  8. My wife won't allow me to spend that much ha ha. She apparently doesn't understand the joy of running multimonitor bf3 on ultra at 85fps. The price has dropped 300 in just a few days when I first saw it the price was 1299
  9. Its here and for the small price of 999usd you can own the fastest video card ever created. When its back in stock anyways
  10. Yes dcs world will be the online environment. Yes even if you dont own one of the modules you can still play with or against in multiplayer. Its the same principle as bs2 and a10 being online compatible. It just incorporates the sims in to one sim where the flyables are modules. Therefore many full installs meaning a full install for each sim becomes one full install...dcs world...and much smaller installs for each plane. So you use 12gb instead of 30gb.
  11. If there is in game af and aa settings use those. If not you can make a ccc profile for those games but you will have too switch profiles in the ccc when switching games. There may be an auto profile switcher that will change the settings when you load a program but Im not sure. I haven't played around with ccc to much. Make sure youre using adaptive multisample and not super sample as well. Super sample has a huge effect on framerate.
  12. Check your ccc settings for aa and af and make sure they are set to application controlled. I was getting about 25fps in sim and 10-15fps after my prop hit the ground and I was going down. After I switched to application controlled I was around 50fps and 40-45 when about to crash
  13. Im assuming...since its telling me to buy a10 and bs2, that until v1.1.2.0 these arent integrated into dcs world yet
  14. Also make sure you keep the deactivation code. You will need it to reactivate without wasting an activation if its bs1 you are deactivating. Edit: Does getting a new serial number also apply if it was purchased through direct2drive. As I too am out of activations.
  15. I would definitely recommend trying facetracknoir. I played around with it for a month or so and it did a decent job. Its free so its worth a try. I had some issues with it...probably operator error...but I could never get my head position right. No matter on where I had the camera or where my head was it would line up right. My head would be centered in the facetracknoir interface but in game it was way off causing issues where the hud wouldn't align properly. So I would only see portions of the hud. After trial and lots of error I disabled all the tracking other than what would change the view as the hat switch would. So I had up/down/left/right with my head rotation which was good enough for me. It was a little jumpy with my 30fps cam but not really anything to complain about. For a free program it did the job I wanted it to.
  16. Is anyone else getting the "element not found" error when trying to download?
  17. Check lockonfiles there was a flaming cliffs 1 mod for both of those planes. I'm not sure if they made it to fc2 but they seem to have the most mods for lock on and dcs.
  18. I was hoping for the same thing with the 6900s when the 7900s came out but it seems they just discontinued the 6900s. I wonder if the 500s will share the same fate.
  19. Yes I guess know the model might help. Its a 2500k. It seems I've hit the air cooling wall at around 4.7ghz as my temps are getting a little on the high side after that. At 4.6ghz I'm mid 60s, 4.7 high to low 70s, and 4.8 is low to mid 70s. 4.8 is also where I start needing bigger voltage jumps. I think I will try 4.8 again since it seems my thermal paste is settling. When I tested 4.8 I was getting around 10° difference between the core temps. Mid 70s on the two hot cores and mid 60s.
  20. After some googleing and lots of reading I've found many conflicting ideas about a few things. So any help would be appreciated. First question is the safe operating temperature. Ive seen a few people say keep it in the 60s all they way to its fine in the mid 80s. Is there an official number as to where temperature would be considered unsafe. The second question is about load line calibration. Again many conflicting statements about using it. I would think constant voltage would be better. In my build I can get to 4.8ghz @ 1.3v and about 75°c with load line on. At the same 1.3v bios setting I'm stress testing 4.5 @64°c but the actual voltage is 1.24. I'm thinking that the 300mhz is not worth the extra 10° I probably won't notice a difference. Thanks for any insight
  21. So I was looking to add a second video card to my pc but went to newegg and apparently no one is making the 6900s any more. Between the 6950 and 6970 there is only 4 available. I guess waiting for the price drop was the wrong choice. I found my current video card at another site but for $50 more than what I paid. No way! I couldn't wait for ivy so I went with a 2550k. Without many reviews hopefully it's a better 2500 and not a 2500 with a faulty graphics unit.
  22. I think that the main problem with this is going to be quality control. Is ed going to test all paid 3rd party add ons? Or any type of refund system? Say a new campaign comes out (for easy math) 1000 people buy it for $15 only to find out that the second half of the missions are to buggy to fly. Since the people bought it before any feedback could be made on the campaign would they just be out of their money and the creator with $15000. Is there any "rule" concerning how long paid for add ons are to be supported? Or is this a risk we are going to have to take. With out some basic consumer safe guards there is the possibility that a select few people will only have making money on their mind.
  23. .That was what I was kind of leaning to. At the minimum I was planning on a new motherboard anyway. I made the mistake of buying cheap the first time around. My vrms have no heat sink and its only 3+1. So I've been having issues with the vrms overheating since I put in my 212 evo cooler. I'm also assuming I will need new memory as well.
  24. Since tax time is approaching and my kids will finally earn their keep. Which gives me about 600 to spend on a system upgrade. I have three options at this point. Keep in mind the dcs series only accounts for about 10-15% of my gaming. I also play games like mass effect, skyrim,bf3, and fallout nv for my other 90% of game time. What would you recommend of the three options? 1. Keep my 1090t and upgrade motherboard and add a second 6950 2. Upgrade to i5 2500k without second video card 3 keep 1090t upgrade motherboard and add ssd. Thanks for the help!
  25. Ha ha maybe throw in an at-802f model and campaign to go along. Just a thought.
