  1. 220 for i5-3570k 240 for i5-4670k vs 180 for fx-8150 or 200 for fx-8350 plus motherboard of course. Not much price difference anymore. I used to use AMD until my current build and dont plan to go back anytime soon.
  2. Or the gaming benchmarks. Probably not the reviews either. Although battlefield 4 is supposed to be optimized for AMD and most console ports should be as well.
  3. Although it would be somewhat of a wasteful to fix the object related slow downs if a new engine is to be released. I would assume higher unit counts will be possible by more efficient processing and optimized models. Not by just throwing more objects into an outdated engine. I'm no programmer but I'm guessing the afm, weapons systems, etc are much more advanced in a program code than any of the code of arma. Sure they can get bug fixes out faster than ed but they dont have the issue(at least not on the same scale)of a fix for one bug that causes another(or ten others for that matter). Which obviously causes delays. I haven't seen any lack of professionalism on eds part.
  4. There shouldn't be any problems going to 9gb then.
  5. I got shafted this year fathers day and my bday are today. Ha ha
  6. It can be overclocked if its stable so you may be able to run at the same speed. I haven't had any luck with my memory in regards to an oc.
  7. 1. I'm not sure with your Mb but on mine if I only use one channel it drops to single data rate. 2.Probably won't notice much from 6 to 8 GB. 3.With triple channel you would want to use all 3. Keep in mind all the memory has to run at the same frequency so if your new memory has a higher frequency than the old it will drop to the lower frequency.
  8. Dcs only uses 2 cores one for sound and 1 for the rest. So 30-40% CPU usage is maxed out for the sim engine. Check the individual core usage and you should see one maxed.
  9. I use gpu z. http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ It does do a graph although on a short time period. You can log all the readings to a text file though
  10. The Intel processors are more efficient at processing(higher ipc). Meaning they do more work in a clock cycle than the phenoms. Say the i7 has a 20% ipc than your phenom and yours can do 100 calculations per cycle. The i7 does 120. So the same clock would be faster with the i7
  11. 75 on a prime isn't bad. My sandy hits low 80s. With the games I've played the mass effect games seem to give the highest temps low to mid 60s. Are you going to try a delid?
  12. From what I've read you can delid the CPU and reapply some good tim and get a 20 degree(or so)drop in temps. http://www.overclock.net/t/1397672/deliding-a-4770k-haswell-improving-temperatures-and-maximizing-overclockablity
  13. In case this hasn't been added to the thread... Unreal engine 4 will have oculus rift support http://www.theverge.com/2013/6/6/4402978/epic-announces-oculus-rift-partnership-program-for-unreal-engine-4
  14. Yeah from what I've read the Asus reps recommended high end watercooling over 4.2 or @1.2v
  15. http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/4770K-4.3-GHz-OC.jpg Here is a link with both hwmonitor and cpuz voltages.
  16. Cpuz needed to be updated to read haswell voltage correctly. So most likely the high clock/low voltage over clock is an error. Asus guys and Linus both said this: @4.6Ghz/1.15V is a great chip if stable. @4.6Ghz/1.2v is a good chip if stable. @4.6 Ghz/1.2v is meh only booting into windows. @4.6/1.2v is a bad chip if it crash

    Why Steam?

Steam also functions as DRM and people don't seem to complain about it too much. It also incorporates friends, chat both text and voice, and valve anti cheat. Yes the install gets buried in the steam directory by default. The did add an option to specify other directories and you can pick between directories you've added. Gamesave manager also has a feature called steam spreader that will copy the installs to another directory and create all the links so steam can find it. I don't see steam going belly up but I would guess would remove the DRM. Or origin would buy them out.
  18. I believe the module manager is basically a gateway between dcs and the dcs website(order history) Keys are pulled from the website linked to the purchase email address.
  19. For only a small fee of 9.99 usd you can purchase the official microsoft addon to boot directly to desktop. Ha ha Get both boot to desktop and media center for 14.99
  20. $300 usd would put you in the hd7950 or 660ti. Which is where I generally recommend. Between 200 and 250 would be the 650ti or hd7800 series. Which for aaa games may be on the weak side. The 760ti should be out soon I'm guessing around the same price as the 660ti. You should be able to google gpu reviews and get a good comparison of the various gpus. CPU clock has a lot to do with dcs performance as quite alot in dcs is processed by the CPU. It also only uses two core which is why your CPU usage is showing 30%-40%. One core is fully loaded, one is ~20-30% loaded the other two are near idle. If you do over clock you need a good CPU cooler. Not a factory cooler.I use a hyper 212 evo as it got decent reviews and didn't break the bank. Reading the forums some people report significant change with fps while some report minor change with gpu upgrade. I would like to say I got maybe 10-15 fps going from 260ti to 6950 but a 260ti is on the very weak side for dcs.
  21. It also looks like they are planning an update to windows 8. http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-22446754 I just use classic shell to boot to desktop. "They also suggested it would give users the option of booting their PCs directly into Windows 8's desktop mode rather than having to visit the tile-based Start menu screen first."
  22. After reading a few reviews it looks like the 770 is approximately 10% faster than the 680. If you're a fan of amd the 7970 GHz edition performs about the same
  23. The price hasn't dropped by on newegg yet. So if you're planning to get a 670 might as well pay not much more for a 770. Unless your running multimonitor as the available 770s are 2gb cards. With the 700s being a rebrand of the 600s I don't know if a price drop will happen. I was looking for a price drop when the hd7900 came out but the 6900s just sold out. The 700s have just been released so they're not going anywhere if you want to wait to see if the 600s price comes down. What is the CPU clock speed? If its not overclocked that could also be part of the issue.
  24. Yeah I would agree with getting a touch screen monitor as opposed to a tablet. Some can be quite pricey though. This is the highest rated one on newegg and the price is reasonable. $300usd. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824176356
  25. http://mashable.com/2012/11/01/tablet-second-monitor/ In theory any tablet should work as the apps above are just a way to interface with windows using the tablet as a second monitor. Are you looking for a tablet to use as a tablet as well? Or just for dcs? I've never tried with a tablet so I can't say how it would perform. Air display:http://avatron.com/apps/air-display
