Yeah I did a quick watch of the video and I feel the same. Maybe if they add bigger cities for us solo players. Not sure I'd be into SimCity online as I don't play much online anyways. I don't really like the internet required DRM as I've had a few issues with mass effect 3 not being able to "validate" my dlc when it couldn't connect. I've always liked the SimCity games and am on the fence about this one. Maybe I'll pick it up in a few months when it goes on sale. Ha ha

Yes am is midnight. That's the downside of digital distribution. If your not in pacific time anyways. For me it wouldn't unlock till 2am.

Lol...its 75% off and I'm sure I'll play it eventually. As for sim city I played the first beta and it didn't really do much for me. Unless the reviews are great I'll pass on this one.

Lock on Gold to Lock on Flaming cliffs 2
pacotito replied to tonyuk's topic in Lock On v.1.0x and Flaming Cliffs v.1.1x
Lomac is now on the gamefly unlimited PC play. My system is down till the weekend so I haven't been able to test if fc3 will install with the free gamefly version. -
Lock on Gold to Lock on Flaming cliffs 2
pacotito replied to tonyuk's topic in Lock On v.1.0x and Flaming Cliffs v.1.1x
yeah I know it's available as a cd. Would it be possible for ed to package it with fc3 as a download? That's the question that was asked. For those that don't have lomac. -

maybe it was flaming cliffs that gave me all the headaches with windows 7. Its been a while I just remembered having to do a laundry list of steps to get lomac gold to work. As for the other part of his question. Would it be possible for ed to package lomac with fc3? Does the contract prevent this? -

pacotito replied to tonyuk's topic in Lock On v.1.0x and Flaming Cliffs v.1.1x
Its quite a chore but lomac can work in windows 7 its just a matter of going through the steps of updating the starforce drivers. I'm not sure of the details of the contract or of they could include it or not. Ultimately the complaints would be the same. Would it help sales? I know lomac is only available for download from the ubi shop in the us. Which may be true if other retailers carry it. With the contract with ubi I'm guessing it would be more trouble than its worth for ed. -
High FPS Single Player - Low FPS Multiplayer?
pacotito replied to sgibson's topic in Game Performance
I'm not sure how the multiplayer would handle the Ai maybe a tester or mod knows and could chime in. Have you tried a sp mission with a lot of units? Try running a "busy" sp mission and see how the numbers look. Also are you on 64bit windows? What are your in game settings? From the specs you gave the CPU looks a little on the weak side for dcs. -
Help!!! Updated DCS World to 2.2 and lost A-10C
pacotito replied to FireWolf's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
You just need to install dcs world and then install the a10 module located here http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?scr=product&ProductId=8&end_pos=136&lang=en you can uninstall the origin version. -
Would a mb+ram upgrade helped me?
pacotito replied to trooph's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
What are your graphical settings? From the reviews I've read the 7850 is on par with the 6950. I'm guessing you can tweak the settings a bit. If I remember correctly I was getting around 30-35 fps on a busy mission when I had my 1090t. What is your budget for a new rig? -
Download the a10 module here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?scr=product&ProductId=8&end_pos=136&lang=en and install. edit:I was a little too slow
-
You could try turning hyperthreading off and see if that helps. As to the camera there should be a setting in dcs options that has a drop down and you can pick one camera or three camera. Unless its been removed. I haven't had time to sim lately. One camera renders on frame and displays it on selected resolution. 3 camera renders 3 frames and sends one to each monitor. What mission are you using? Keep in mind a "busy" mission will tax even high end rigs
-
Nice rig. I'm not sure how eyefinity is setup since I've never gone that route. Are you using the one camera in the options or the three camera? Another thing is if you have mirrors on that will kill your framerate. While hawx is more graphically appealing dcs has to do a lot more than hawx. Things like physics that hawx doesn't model as well. When you fire the gun dcs calculates the bullet(I think each bullet is calculated but I could be wrong) path with factors like wind, gravity, aircraft speed when firing, and so on for all the units in a mission so that really eats the CPU cycles. Add in the fact that dcs isn't multithreaded(sound is the only thing on a separate core) even an extremely high end pc can see low fps with enough going on in the mission.

Casing dor good Air Flow performance
pacotito replied to Manuel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Here is a comparison of memory speed although its for SB. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/memory/2011/01/11/the-best-memory-for-sandy-bridge/1 "As far as gaming goes, though, there's very little point in buying anything faster than 1,600MHz memory. Crysis couldn't care less about what memory you use, while Civ 5 ran equally as fast on the 1,600MHz kit at CL9 as the 2,133MHz at CL8. Only with the memory set to 1,333MHz did we see a slowdown, and even then by 1-3fps (around 5 per cent) at most." -

I have an antec 902 v3. Plenty of front USB it has 3 near the top and also came with a USB 3 bay for an extra 2. Since you're planning on getting a new psu anyways I would definately recommend a modular since you can remove the cables you don't need. There are a few issues I have with my case. Its loud due to so many fans but keeps everything cool. The psu is bottom mount but there is no vent in the bottom so the psu fan has to be facing up. So that could be an issue if you don't lay it down when removing screws. The intake fans are filtered...but...in order to get the front fliters out the hd cage has to be unscrewed(16 screws if I remember correctly). The side window has an extra fan bracket but if you use a tower cooler a fan won't fit with out modification. Long story short its a great case but there is probably easier/better for the price. -
Need Assistance Selecting Better Graphics Card
pacotito replied to ErichVon's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
After doing a little research I found this chart which puts the 545 at the same level as the 8800. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-performance-radeon-geforce,2997-7.html Even a single 660ti should outperform your two cards. -

pacotito replied to ErichVon's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The 590 would still be an sli card as its 2 underclocked 580 chips. I would recommend getting a single 680 unless you are trying to stay with sli. If you want to stay with sli maybe 2 660ti's. For a little less money ypu could go with a 670 or a 660ti.Do you have liquid cooling on the gpus as well? If so you would have to get new waterblocks as well. -
I was looking for info on 'haswell' and came across this. http://www.zdnet.com/intel-preparing-to-put-an-end-to-user-replaceable-cpus-7000008024/

Correct procedure when upgrading from BS1 to BS 2?
pacotito replied to Konrad Friedrich's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Unless he has a PC malfunction/upgrade. I'm always safe with my bs1 serial since I'm down to my last one and you never know what's going to happen down the road. I know can get another serial but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. -
Purchase of A-10C on Steam : lack of CD Key
pacotito replied to BlackLight_UK's topic in Payment and Activation
I'm not sure the exact details but steam decided against carrying new ed products. Which is why the sim is out dated. The steam version is the last full update to a10c after that it went to dcs world which steam doesn't carry. So steam has the last update to the full sim. Since they don't carry the modules or dcs world it won't get updated to the current module/world version. -

If your bs1 is not the steam version I would recommend deactivating bs1 to save an activation -
Purchase of A-10C on Steam : lack of CD Key
pacotito replied to BlackLight_UK's topic in Payment and Activation
best buy sells Sony tvs...is it Sonys job to make sure best buy has Sony tvs...no its best buys job. Steam stopped supporting dcs when a10 came out...wjy should they cater to steam. Yes steam sells it why are they selling a product they don't have in stock? Ed doesn't provide keys they sell them. Therefore the have to actually own keys...in this case they don't. How many companies remove DRM after day one? None! The point of the DRM if irrelevant at this point. The fact of the matter is steam sold a product they don't have "in stock". How that equates to ed screwing you over is beyond me. Isn't it steam that screwed you over by selling a product they didn't actually have? And since you obviously don't know you get 10 activations...if you use all 10 a month later one is replenished. DRM is what it is...its not going away regardless of pirates. Deal with it You're blaming the developer when you should be blaming the seller. If you would have bought from the developer instead of steam you would have your key. case and point: you bought something from steam...yes did steam actually have the keys for the product:no Is ed responsible for the number of keys steam keeps on stock:no(just like Sony doesn't send TVs to best buy without an order) Is this eds fault: no if a store runs out of said goods do you blame the maker of said goods or do you blame the store? The store. Steam is the store no ifs ands or buts they are to blame. If you read post 8 ed has given an official response saying its not in there hands(ssshhh...steam needs to order more keys). The only respose steam has given is removing the option you view your key. Yes ed provides the keys but any company knows you can't give product without some sort of compensation. Ed can give the keys but without payment who's to say steam won't in a measure if good faith refund the money but still give the keys. Am I getting through to you at all? -
Purchase of A-10C on Steam : lack of CD Key
pacotito replied to BlackLight_UK's topic in Payment and Activation
Ultimately its not eds fault steam ran out of keys. I'm assuming steam buys keys from ed. Does Sony just send 40000 tvs to best buy...no they have to be ordered. As for the multiplayer I haven't tried it but most servers are locked and unless you actually no how to use the aircraft as this is a simulation not hawx you will get smoked in multiplayer. This is not a download and kill friends expirence. This is a holy shit I really need to know how to operate a military aircraft in order to kill things expirence so your missing the point its not eds fault for trying to protect their software its steams fault for selling a product they don't "have". As far as ed is concerned all they can do is tell steam they need more keys because people are complaining. Its up to steam to act. This is basically a military grade simulation with the classified stuff removed. -
Purchase of A-10C on Steam : lack of CD Key
pacotito replied to BlackLight_UK's topic in Payment and Activation
Why is everyone blaming ED for steam running out of keys. The main point of DRM as stated by a popular game designer is to stop day one pirating. They know it will be cracked but could lose substantial sales if a pirated game is available before on on release day. A developer considers DRM successful if it stops the day one piracy. Think about the lock on your door. Is it going to stop someone who already decided he's going to rob you? No but you still lock your door. This leads to the "casual" thief who comes by tries the door and moves on. Yes he would have robbed you if the door was unlocked. The same is true with game pirates. Yes some hardcore pirate will crack the DRM. The "casual" pirate still wants the game but if its not pirated on day one...lets say a week just for giggles. Is there a chance he might give up and buy it. The goal of DRM is not to stop pirating but minimize early pirating. Companies would rather inconvenience 1 or 2 percent of the customers than lose out on early sales.
