su-27 1997

I'm glad they made it; grate work for the controller and the pilot that was chasing her!
-
That is what I saw on the news; but good to news anyway; the professionalism of the Blue Angels is unbelievable
-
In case you guys missed this; The Blue Angels had a close call this year and would not be performing until next year; this appear to b the reason why; look until the end of the video
-
There was a similar accident at the Peru coast, the maintenance people put tape on the data proves; this happened at night over the sea, the pilots got overspeed and stick shaker at the same time; they also got pull ap warnigs and several conflicting warnigs until they hit the sea...they were on a Boeing; now imagine the same scenario on an aircraft that is full flight by wire that don't have any type of mechanical feed back.

woops just saw the answer to my question a few posts back! awesome!

woooooooooow :shocking: will it have its own flight model? (forgive me if it has been asked before)

Joint Service Open House 2011 (lots of pics)

Just a question: When are the thunderbirds coming to GA? I been living here for 5 years and never heard of them visiting GA. -
You are right; It looks like the Pakistan government will let the Chinese have a look at the tail section; I bet that it already happened. I still think that they should have bombed the whole complex with an f-22.
-
apparently they are not completely out of commission
-
I don't want this guy's job
-
Why but why we bought a house without basement... that week all the supper cells passed just North of my house; fortunately for the people here in GA the storm weakened when it got into the state; but it hit full force in Alabama.
-
You are provably right; but what if the helicopter was build with composite materials; it would be lighter. I don't know if the 14 people capacity is just an accommodation limit and not a weight limit; made me remember when I was in high school; to go home we took a chevett taxi... we were able to fit 7 guys (without including taxi driver) so if you can fit 7 guys on a 90s chevett I don't see how you can't fit 18 soldiers on a black hawk... For illustration purposes here is a video of a chevette... plz ignore the music; it actually makes the car look worst...

su-27 documentary ... I know that it is in russian but it has very interesting stuff: 1 Part one talks about all the people involved in the project. t-10 and then redesign of first design; with improvements. Here they continue talking about the changes, but also show a reconstruction of the loss of one of the prototypes due to a wing break up 4 this one shows the radar antenna and the eos operation with trackir :megalol: also they show some hud video of the eos tracking a small drone... at first it looks like it has some trouble locking it. After that su-35 and 33 5 su-30mk and mki; the maestro and russian knights. (cool detail they show how they load the flares on a russian knights su-27ub + drag chute install near the end) 6 on this one looks like the explain why the su-27 can do the cobra; they also talk about the fly by wire flight control system; if I'm not mistaken they also talk of another accident with other prototype due to some sort of flight control system problem. 7 su-34; some in flight video of the cockpit with the russian president onboard. Cool stuff shame that it is in russian... made me remember of discovery wings... why all the cool shows had to end on the 90s?

butt still left important parts intact; the tail rotor is pretty much intact; so you can easily copy it and get the coat materials composition; part of the main rotor blades are intact; so this mission risk some serious assets.
-
I would get it but it would be like 2.0 with advanced avionics; not a lot new; I prefer sim about the su-27; going back to the airplane that started all. An su-30mk would be fantastic! if the next module is an american aircraft my choice would be a hornet with carrier ops that would be super cool; imagine landing at night with 19m waves; with new moon! that would be the bomb.

The regular black hawk is very quiet as long as it keeps flying low when it is approaching; the only thing you can hear is the turbines wine (very cool); I can't say the same about the the mi-17s and uh-1; KA-32 sounds very close to a uh-1h but the turbine noise is a bit more tubular and pronounced...I was such a nerd I was able to differentiate jetrangers; MD500; uh-1h, ka-32; mi-17s and black hawks by the sound. The comanche was cool but too costly to be a viable weapon system; and it looks more vulnerable to fire than the apache. I guess we can tell that all the money and knowledge didn't go to waste after the comanche cancellation.

then it is not a waste of money

Pulling 12gs is impressive but most jet fighters are designed to sustain that kind of stress as structural load safety margin; but is not something you want to do all the time because it damages the airplane. Also one thing is pulling 12gs instantaneously and other being able to sustain 12 gs for an extended period of time. Take for example aerobatic airplanes; they go up to 12gs and -10 (SU-31 wing spar tested up to 23gs!) but you just can't sustain 12 gs for too long; you would black out; aerobatic airplanes don't have the power and speed to keep high g turns for too long. Indy racing pilots have gone even higher than 50gs but that is on a split second during crashes. If tvc is so worthless why most of the recent su-30mk customers opted to get it. Just because it was used carelessly on a training exercise by rookie pilots it doesn't mean it is worthless. Tvc gives you more instantaneous turn rate and improves your sustained turn rate; it also makes your airplane safer since you can easily get out of flat spins by using tvc(in the case of su-30 and mig-35otv). The real problem of the su-30 mki is that it is a fighter that has become heavier than the original su-27; that is why they are putting new engines on the su-35. The russians had admitted that due to the fall of the soviet union the development of more powerful engines got stuck; the only thing they were able to do was to do upgrades on their engines.

no picture means that it is unreal :megalol:

I wonder how they managed to reduce the radar signature on the main rotor. Very well ket secret not a single picture of the thing had appeared until now; the bad thing is that they left the tail section in pakistan; this could end up in the hands of you know who; specially if you are developing a stealth jet.
-
Yes guys it is not only a flanker; now there is also a fulcrum; what is next a mig-31? here is a cool video courtesy of the Historic Flight Foundation More info here: http://www.historicflight.org man I really need to start working my like a mule to get me one of those:thumbup:

stealth helicopter used in osama raid! wow this is a new one check the link http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/blogs/defense/index.jsp?plckController=Blog&plckBlogPage=BlogViewPost&newspaperUserId=27ec4a53-dcc8-42d0-bd3a-01329aef79a7&plckPostId=Blog%3a27ec4a53-dcc8-42d0-bd3a-01329aef79a7Post%3a275902dd-e7a2-40fd-ab78-d46e3bf922b1&plckScript=blogScript&plckElementId=blogDest

I been at the great GA air show; and most all the pilots were very polite; but the nicest pilot were the c-130 pilots; I don't know if it is the fighter pilot factor; but they didn't have the same air of: " I'm cool" anyway they have the coolest jobs so I can't complain; but the c-130 guys were very very communicative; I still think that without those guys other cool fighters would not get to the air. Here kids get into the uh-60s and mess around with every single switch in the cockpit; I wonder what kind of revision is necessary after each air show. No word in how much will cost to go there from the US?

Sometimes I wonder if I have the best or the worst job around...
mikoyan replied to hitman's topic in Military and Aviation
Cool stuff; keep them coming as long as you don't get in trouble doing it... and no your job don't suck.
