Maybe if the ship quit rushing it would work!

(re: #1 Top of thread post) Dragon, Thanks for both the A-10C and BS2: 1.1.1.1 missions versions in Multiplayer. It took me a bit of trial and error figuring out how to disassemble your stash folders into my "My Computer" to the appropriate places, but both the training pack and the mission pack work in both Warthog and separately in BS2, beautifully as my own solo entity. I did not use Modman, yet. I have no desire to mod the dang things. Tough enough learning the basic design as it is and then DCS creates more stuff. I will never catch up. I deleted my older versions of your packs and installed the new versions. Cheers.

I have done it both ways. It is always slow on my end. But it gets done.

Used to be here in New York State, a year ago, the Russian Http: server was the best for me, but still took an hour for each of the 2 large downloads using DSL at about 4GB/s. The last 2 times I downloaded online from the DCS online source was a USA server somewhere. Each module took 90 minutes. A year ago it was all new to me. I save my downloads in "My Documents" folders consecutively numbered and appropriately identified and backed up on a large thumb drive. You just hope no glitches, power outages or maintenance updates happen. My best download time is about 2AM to 7AM NY time. Daytime businesses slow down the Internet and kids out of school playing Internet games. I would think if a new product is popular, and everybody is downloading it that day, would slow down the DCS download server.

Are You Talking One Central Server?
ErichVon replied to ErichVon's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Well, there are a few out there, just not here. Last night, wee hours, actually early this morning I played a private Multiplayer with not a bad ping rate of 151 to the =4c=SVFS server. I occasionally will play Mutiplayer. -
My experience online as to a MMORPG is currently Aces High: http://www.hitechcreations.com/ and what used to be Warbirds, maybe still is: http://www.totalsims.com/info_warbirds.php WWIIOn-Line: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_Online Air Warrior: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Warrior For me, Air Warrior back in the 1980's was a long distance phone fee on dial-up as there were no local nodes and this was before the Internet became popular as it is and the http://www world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WorldWideWeb Is DCS talking about one central server? Always on 24/7? I hope so and it is about time... I would gladly pay a monthly fee to access it and I'd cancel my Aces High account. The one thing I do not like about LockOn and DCS is the ridiculous nature of no central server, private locked out servers, and unregulated public servers, of not very many guys to play with and against; with decent ping rates. Aces High on any Eastern Time Zone night, primetime 8PM to 11PM has 400 or more people in it, worldwide. It is always on 24/7. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My current LockOn and mostly DCS purchases are: Best Buy had LockOn Platinum for $20 January 2011, the 2 disk boxed set with FC2, that got me started with the madness. I have DCS: A-10C Warthog purchased online, I spent most of last Spring and Summer learning. I have DCS: Black Shark (the 1st version) purchased online. Best Buy had A-10C Warthog, the boxed edition, sometime around Christmas 2011. Then I added and purchased to 1.1.1.1 I have DCS: Black Shark 2, the add-on I purchased online for what, $20, the latest and greatest, version 1.1.1.1 And P-51 will be next once I get the Ka-50 learned. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I usually play off-line against AI and I am happy enough with that.

Black Shark 2 - upgrade or seperate install?
ErichVon replied to fordfairlane's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I kept my BS 1.0.2 shortcut, both of them, as sometimes, Multiplayer in BS2 is rather lean and I can still play in FC2. I too, upgraded. I saved my installs to My Documents in Windows 7, then copied them to a thumb drive to transfer to my new machine. Then, if I want, I can bring up the flight manual on the other machine, while flying on the new one. My CH Products .map profile works identically in both versions. -
I completely did not think of this. I start out at about throttle set to Auto via RCTRL + Return as my visual crutch and approx. 8500 rpm on the gage, but it may dip below as I did not think of this. Yeah, I'm still a noob. This Ka-50 is a complicated beast. I am reading my copy of the 2009 metal, spiral ring binder, flight manual I found to Amazon.com, and go back and forth between the two online manuals as my book is in English but all the cockpit instruments are labeled in Russian. I want to get the P-51, but the Ka-50 is more than enough for me, currently. Thank you.

Thank you.

Sometimes at take-off I lose a good portion of my HUD display information including no airspeed indication. I then rely on the analog dials. I have the HUD declutter button mapped and I check this. It is not this. What is up with this? Is this a random failure? Am I forgetting a pre-set prior to take-off? Is this caused by an out of sequence procedure at start-up?
-
I have noticed at start-up on occasion and in flight the Shkval cockpit cathode ray tube displays what looks to me to be a test pattern like what USA network TV stations used to display when off air. Is there any significance to this? Anything that needs to be known, or is it just that, is it telling me it is ready? At start-up it sometimes appears after I set the throttles to Auto and rotor rpm to approx. 8500. In flight I do not know when it appears for sure but seems to be when I get close to the combat area.

KA-50 Black Shark 2 Training missions
ErichVon replied to BigfootMSR's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Your quick start-up, I now have it memorized. Thank you very much. I have all your previous Missions files downloaded and installed. I will add the rest. I also downloaded the 2 hour full start-up from the user files, by the other guy, as a comparison and a study. Cheers -
Yeah, what he said!

http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/video/bs2-training/ In Mutiplayer I fly BS2 in DCS and BS 1.0.2 I kept my desktop shortcut and play in FC2, but 1.0.2 also has no training missions. FC2 usually has more servers up and accessible for the DCS Black Shark.

I do believe his mission pack is designed only for in Multiplayer. I am guessing maybe this is the issue? How I work around that to play by myself is create my own online LAN using the DCS Multiplayer. It works! I can play all day and nobody locks me out or changes missions on me. But it is hardly likely the designated mission will be completed as to the many triggers that are within. Still fun, though.

That is what I am betting. Most, like me, want the F-18 as to the poll. -
Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
ErichVon replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The English CV Harrier aircraft carrier I actually toured it in New Orleans, prior to the Falklands War. It was in for a liberty call. The Russian CV, DCS has a similar ramped takeoff deck. I had a boxed sim years ago of the jump jet harrier. Landing that thing on a CV deck, and it is a narrow deck, than the typical aircraft carrier, was like landing a helicopter on a ship. On take-off don't forget to transition the ducting. -
To quiet the complainers, I would like to see how much work it takes to get any DCS aircraft out of the Beta and into "production" prior to the inevitable 1st patch. I heard one guru here say it takes 100,000 hours. I would love to see the pages upon pages upon pages of the source code. How much work is entailed to get this Nevada landscape? What does that entail? I know the industrial machine shop trade. Going from an idea, to sketch, to drawings, testing, prototype to production is a really big deal and expensive. Just getting the patent is very expensive. I can sidestep a lot of that as to making a repair part, just give me the part. I want this, I want that... That's easy to say. I remember back with my Commodore 64, I typed in a magazine's article program. 4 hours of typing in code, another 4 hours fixing typos to get a 5 second program to run in BASIC. The job to create any aircraft in a sim must be a huge undertaking. I'd get the P-51 just to get a chance to start it up the way it was done for real in WWII and not just hit the letter "E" and off I go. I bet taxiing it and take-off will be interesting, too.

I live about 90 minutes away from the Scranton/Wilkes Barre, PA, USA airport. I was to their big mixed civilian/military airshow about a year before the 1st Iraq War. They had, air worthy, flyable, WWII aircraft flying together. Heck, like the Blue Angels F-18s that were there, configured properly, all of them could fly just a hair above the F-18's stall speed, together. The Hellcat in Aces High is fun to fly combat with, but in no way, as Aces High models it, does it even come close to a P-51, but performance at various altitudes, per machine does vary. All these aircraft have their quirky personalities. Fly stupid, you will die. Whether a B-17 actually could really ever get to 37,000 feet in WWII, I don't know. In Aces High, I go in to target very high, and regress even higher. Few aircraft can even get that high, let alone still perform fairly well. The P-51 can, the P-47, most Spits, and a later version FW-190 derivative. But it really gets down to the ability of the pilot, his PC setup, ping rate, and his ISP. I think the USA FCC caps the ISP online speeds to 30 GB. I have heard France has the highest and the guy guru here to DCS Ether-however-it-is-spelled says he runs at 100 GB---how can I compete with that online? My DSL does not even run at 4 GB download speed. It is all good. I will gladly buy anything DCS wants to create. DCS---just stay in business, stay profitable! I played Aces High two nights ago. I played 12 hours straight. Fun! But I rarely fly there anymore. I fly and die, here! LOL!

Proper Procedure Connecting Controllers?
ErichVon replied to ErichVon's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Greetings, Yep, trial and error seems to be popular with my learning technique. I ask questions to save time, but in the end, I usually end up back to experimenting. There are too many variables as to the various nature of everybody's machine builds and setup to actually say for sure this will work and that will not. Thanks for the reply. Cheers -
Hi Capn_Crunch and the rest of you'alls, I use this profile for both versions of Black Shark: http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/showthread.php?7354-DCS-Blackshark-profile-by-Crunch I set the Pro Throttle as the collective and the Fighterstick's throttle rotary wheel for the collective throttle. Did you or has anybody else fine tuned the controllers? And if so, how did you do it, or, how did you set yours as to the Black Shark Option's Controllers' Axis Tune? I set the mini-stick exactly as instructed in the ReadMe file. I can start the Ka-50 in full sim mode, long-hand. I can taxi and take off. I can navigate to waypoints. Landing, hovering, combat and the finer stuff is a work in progress. Hope I live long enough to master this sucker. This helicopter is so demanding, this is all I do in my gaming time. Thanks for the profile, and any further help.

Proper Procedure Connecting Controllers?
ErichVon posted a topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Greetings, My current PC is running both A-10C, 64-bit 1.1.1.1 and Black Shark 2.0 1.1.1.1 also in 64-bit and the LockOn FC2 in I believe it is 32-bit as to the DCS / LockOn product line. My question is related to what the tech guy at CH Products suggests plugging in my Fighterstick, the Pro Throttle, and the Pro Pedals directly into the back of my PC. The other sim I play, Aces High II, the tech guys there say to plug my controllers into a powered Belkin 2.0, 4-port hub, bar code number 722868569986 is what I was using since January 2012, as to my other recent thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=87276 I now have the controllers plugged directly into the back of my PC. What does DCS / ED / you guys, recommend as to how to plug in my CH Products trio of controllers as to best performance? I spend a lot more time the last few months playing mostly the Black Shark 2.0 and sometimes in Multiplayer I play the Black Shark 1.0.2 , and will be playing the DCS A-10C again and occasionally play with Flaming Cliffs 2. I like the DCS simulators. You know I will buy the P-51, too and any other aircraft DCS/ED develop! Aces High II I have lost interest in as it is basically a higher end arcade game---played it for 5 years. =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= My Gaming Machine: ============= Alienware Aurora-R3 desktop Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit Dual 1GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce GT 545 - SLI Enabled graphics card 1 TB RAID 0 (2 x 500GB) Hybrid S ATA-II CPU is an Intel Core i7-2600 (8MB Cache) overclocked Turbo Boost to 3.9 GHZ (factory set) 8GB dual channel DDR3 ram at 1333M Hz. Greetings, I have been playing DCS sims for about a year now, both the A-10C 1st, then for a few months, now, Black Shark 2.0 offline and Multiplayer and 1.0.2 Multiplayer in FC2; and to a lesser extent, FC2. I use a CH Products .map created by Crunch I found to CH Hanger for Black Shark. I just added FC2 (I have the LockOn Platinum boxed set), TeamSpeak 3 and TrackIr5 with the Track Clip Pro. I was running fine until I added these add-ons. When I came out of playing Black Shark 2 to switch to DCS: Warthog, I noticed in my CH Control Manager and also in the Warthog's Option's Controllers, my controllers were gone. I checked the game profile in Windows and it was also vacant, all 3 controllers: Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, Pro Pedals. So I called CH by land-line phone to California for the proper sequence to uninstall and then reinstall the CH Control Manager. I had to do this two separate times. After the 2nd identical incident, I unhooked TrackIR 5 (still installed), but kept the FC2 and TeamSpeak 3. My setup runs fine, currently. I can change games without incident, even other games using differrent CH Control Manager .maps . The only other thing I did recently before adding the add-ons, a week back or so, in BIOS, I disabled the Intel EIST "SpeedStep", because I read in one of the BS Sticky's having this on could cause stutters---still experimenting. Not having this enabled causes most YouTube videos not to be seen when played. But I have another PC for the not-gaming world. I was using a powered Belkin 4 socket USB hub. Currently my 3 CH controllers are plugged directly in to the rear of my machine. TeamSpeak3 is still installed. TrackIR5 is still installed, but the USB plug is not plugged in to the machine. Does anybody have ideas as to what is going on? =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= My Gaming Machine: ============= Alienware Aurora-R3 desktop Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit Dual 1GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce GT 545 - SLI Enabled graphics card 1 TB RAID 0 (2 x 500GB) Hybrid S ATA-II CPU is an Intel Core i7-2600 (8MB Cache) overclocked Turbo Boost to 3.9 GHZ (factory set) 8GB dual channel DDR3 ram at 1333M Hz.
