  1. Hey fred41! That are really awesome news! For years I was holding out for the next force feedback stick. Last month I caved in and pre-ordered a VPC gimbal and bought a Warthog HOTAS. Now you are coming out with a fix for my main issue with the G940. Bad timing, story of my life! Nevertheless I'm more than happy that the G940 finally gets that bit of love it deserved all along! Now the only thing left to optimize is the center play. Any of you guys have a fix for that? Flying helicopters I mostly do all my movement within the center play of the stick. Curves and deadzones are now solution since DCS doesn't account for the moving center position when trimming, as far as I can tell. Once again, great work Fred!
  2. Even with the finger lifts it doesn't work for me. I can switch from cutoff to idle, but when I try to move from idle to cutoff they move back to idle, as soon as I let go of the button. Using finger lifts doesn't change a thing. When moving to cutoff the finger lift moves anyway. As I understand it, it is supposed to be a toggle between RightShift+Home and RightShift-End (RightAlt for the other engine) and it doesn't work that way.
  3. Maybe they just could give it another name? I don't care for rumble effects, all I really want is trimming and control surface load forces..
  4. I am having a pretty similar problem. In DCS open beta 1.5.6 when I try to set my control bindings for the Viggen it crashes DCS. It doesn't matter what exactly I'm doing. Deleting preset stuff, binding new or simply axis tuning. As soon as I hit OK I end up with a black screen in non-VR and in the hangar view but without the menu in VR. So DCS keeps somehow running but something is messed up. When I change the settings from out of the cockpit it works. No issues with the other modules so far.
  5. Hi Berniyh! I'd rather buy a FFB stick than building my own but since there is nothing out there I could throw my cash at, it might be the only possibility. Currently I'm using my G940 but I'm not too happy with the precision and it has too much centerplay. While I don't think I could contribute much to this project, I will follow closely!
  6. Same here. Around 20fps with the 3d theme. Whole menu is laggy. After switching to wallpaper, everything back to normal. Same specs as:
  7. That's not how it works in airliners. Standard procedure for emergency descent would be to select FL100, or lowest safe altitude over terrain, Speed Vmo/Mmo, Flightlevel change/speedmode, extend flightspoilers/airbrake. The autothrottle will throttle back to idle and the aircraft descends with max operating speed. There are no steep banks involved and while you might get a slight reduction in g, depending on the autopilot, you will not get negative g. Resulting descent rate, depending on aircraft and weight will be less than 10.000 fpm. You can't have 15.000-20.000 fpm in an airliner without overspeeding it. An emergency descent in real live is far less dramatic, than it sounds like. My thoughts are with our dear colleagues of 4U9525 and their families. See you in the skies.
  8. With my Logitech G940 FFB-Stick, in DCS 1.2.16.37730, the pitch trim works reversed. When I push the trim lever in the cockpit forward, my stick goes back and the nose comes up and vice versa. It should work the other way round.
  9. Yes, just tried it out, main menu works for me as well. What doesn't work is in flight and in multiplayer it doesn't work either.
  10. Don't know, if I am the only one, but couldn't find any other posts. Since the update to 1.2.10 (I'm now on 1.2.10.32095) I can't ALT-TAB out of the game. Only thing that works is CTRL-ALT-DEL, open taskmanger, then I'm back on my desktop. If I maximize DCS again, ALT-TAB works afterwards.
  11. I rather would consider this as a joke. I mean, not from your side :smilewink:
  12. There are a lot of typos in the manual. The question is, do would like to have a thread pointing them out? Or is this WIP anyway and you are working on this? First thing, you could just switch all "break" with "brake" . A "brake" stops your car. When it "breaks" it my stop as well, but it won't drive afterwards, because it's broken ;)
  13. As a first step it would be nice, to make all keyboard commands available for joystick. E.g. the flaps can be raised and lowered via the keyboard, but for the stick I can only assign the specific positions. Also there are a couple of axis, like radar range, wing span, etc, that can not be linked to a stick axis. I really love that module and will be forever grateful, but please keep all those guys without sophisticated homecockpits in mind :smilewink: My HOTAS has to do the job and it has only so many buttons. This will be even more important, when the Oculus Rift finally hits the shelfs! :joystick:
  14. That's the "deadman switch". To get rid of this, just tape over the small sensor, right side of the stick grip, above the center screw. Then it will always be "on".

    Release??

  16. +1 I would really love to see an upgrade of the ffb functionality. simFFB seems to be a good starting point. Especially the updated center position, so we ffb users can use curvatures. That would be a great help in helicopters without having to extend our joysticks with plumbing or garden hoses :smilewink:
  17. That's new to me. I think it usually is used in the context of a turn and burn fight, where you engage in a turning fight and burn your energy. Opposite of boom and zoom, where you dive down on your enemy and zoom up again, to conserve your energy.
  18. Just found that on Kickstarter. Even though it doesn't really makes sense to have a yoke in DCS, it might be interesting for those guys out there, that fly around with FSX/Prepar3d. Or maybe for future modules, like bombers. I supported the project, just to keep the hope up, that one fine day, we will get a decent force feedback HOTAS!
  19. Hi Lt.Seahawk! I have the G940 myself. For the time, I´m flying with all sliders to zero. With my stick that means, that I´m flying most of the time in the sticks "built-in" centerplay. I even took it apart, to see if I could get rid of it. Obviously Logitech tried to safe some cents on that thing. All the gimbal axis use ball bearings..but one. That´s the weak point where the play is. One concern that keeps me away from deadzones and curves is, that with the trim ability of FFB sticks your "zero-point" shifts with the flight conditions. As I understand, the curves and deadzone are fixed to the sticks "real" center position. So if I give it e.g. 20 curvature, when I´m trimmed for hover, I may already out of the effective range the curve has. But I´m happy to try everything that would give me a little more stick movement. Right now I´m barely moving it at all. It´s more kind of using a little pressure.
  20. No, it´s not. Only axis you can configure are for gunner view and those are mapped to the mouse but are overruled by TrackIr as the global mean for view control.
  21. There is a Test/Reset switch just next to the master warning panel. Yeah, I know, as a pilot you are used to push the thing that flashes :D
  22. Bought it this morning..and still downloading! Halfway through the patch, 3/4 of the Mighty Huey. Current D/L-rate ~20 KB/sec.. Join you later, no work tomorrow :drunk:
  23. Our Crew Hotel is in Zandvoort, just next to the track. Nothing better than falling asleep with the sound of racecars buzzing in your head.:sleep: Have fun mate!
