If you shut off oxygen supply at high altitude, your virtual pilot experiences hypoxia. For me, such small details make any sim better!

When you get badly hit or you feel that you will die, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and end the simulator.exe process, that way you can replay the same mission.

Apache can be flown as single seater. It is designed so that gunner or pilot can operate all the systems in case if one of them gets killed. Ka-50 has low IR signature.

I have a question about mission 5. I was flying enjoying the view and suddenly across the border ZU engages me. Is it realistic that you can fire back if someone across the border engages you?

Does not fix it for me, using Catalyst 10.7. The only fix I know is turning off the cloud shadows.

That's strange, I flew few times on 104th server in Ka-50 and only got shot down once, and the player had to work hard to get me.:joystick: You just have to fly low and slow. Jsut fly as low as you can without causing dust from your rotor wash or enemy will easily see you.

Enjoying the campaign so far. Second mission was harder than it looked. Have more than 70 hours in DCS KA-50 but none of them involved formation flying. Because of this mission I can now fly in formation, after 5 tries.... :joystick:

The perfect targets are the ones which can't fire back. Didn't Ka-50's in Chechnya mainly use rockets?

It depends on joystick you use, for example I use Saitek X-45 with that rocker rudder. It's not precise and impossible to center it perfectly, always have to use, reset trim :joystick:

It takes practice, and this tactic is very useful. Once you loose your Shkval you have to get close and personal to engaged the enemy...

My flying style in DCS is similar to what real MI-24 pilot would do. My helicopter is never a stationary target, and I always engage enemies at high speeds :) Hover tactics never worked for me, 60% of the time I get shot down when hovering.

Why good sims come out in Russia? Because in US and the West market for flight sims doesn't exist at all, some might say there is but for large companies such as UbiSoft and EA games this market is not large enough and they simply ignore it. If one could make 12 years olds to love flight sims, every company would be making flight sims :music_whistling:

In most wars USSR/Russian adopted their tactics to the battlefield where they are fighting this is why its very hard to find the "official" tactics. Stuff you will find is probably useless, especially the "text book" tactics because they are Soviet style. Get tanks, helicopters, and infantry to advance in big line formation. :music_whistling:

Well DCS Black Shark got me addicted to the helicopter flying... I''m not even going to buy any DCS packages that has airplanes :) MI-24 and AH-64 would be amazing addition, but the release of Hind is going to be a long wait...

If you are out of flares and there is Stinger incoming, launch your rockets toward the missile :D Missile will follow rockets heat source.

Have the same problem, when I go in with rockets I basically start to look like this ------> :joystick:, when trying to keep Ka-50 steady. And trim makes it harder every time i trim and let go from stick helicopter bounces up and then returns to the trimmed position. Are you talking about the curvature slider?

I heard that the cockpits are blue because this color reduces the strain on the pilot's eyes.
