  1. It may be a problem with the missile slider option. Missiles only work properly when it is set to 50% or 100%, other wise you will get this problem.
  2. The newest carrier is CVN-76 Ronald Reagan IIRC.
  3. I have GRAW on the 360 and it worse than the PC version. I does look better at times on my HD TV but it's more of an arcade game than anything. The amount of times I have gone through levels all by myself and taken down 40-50 troops, trucks, APCs tanks and gunships. It's more like being Rambo. I have finished it on both difficulty levels so its not as if I just played the first level and said this a POS. GR1 on the Xbox was better than the 360 version IMO.
  4. I've played the demo and it drains my system. I have a 3200+ 754, 2Gb DDR400 and a 6800GT 256. I have to play it on med to low settings and even then it gets into single figures in big open areas with a lot of action going on. The AI are both really stuipd and really good at times. What I like most is the way you can customise your weapons with different sights, suppressors, foregrips and grenade launchers. One bad point is not being able to pick up the enemy G36 rifles when you run out of ammo. Overall, expected more form this game having played GR1.
  5. Some people have all the luck. The ACTIVE does not fly anymore under that program. It's now part of a different test phase to test out a self teaching FBW computer systems that automatically reconfigure the fighter as if it has been damaged. I think it is still currently apart that. I read about it a year ago in New Scientist when I was in collage.
  6. Speaking of the F-16 VISTA, there was also the Nasa F-15S/MTD which was fitted withh big canards based on the Hornets tailplane. It later became the F-15 ACTIVE which gave it -229s engines with TV nozzles able to vector in any direction like the MKI. I would really like to see the ACTIVE in action.
  7. Did anyone read the line on that site. It says 9 flyables, list all current flyables including the Ka-50 then says two more under development and lists them as the F-16 and F/A-18. So much for pie in......... Plus whats this new FAC mode. We can be a ground spotter designating targets for fighters? All I can say is there is a lot of future here.
  8. Aren't those pylons with the Mavs on them dedicated Sidewinder stations on the GR.7/9. I've never seen a Maverick there IRL. Looks top notch though.
  9. Yeah the ACMI in TAW was the biz. It will be good to see how this project works out. I think it will be a great feature and could also be used to spot any bugs or exploits. Better than using track files IMO.
  10. For as much as I really, really like the Eagle, I've never seen a display by an F-15 that really impressed me. The Eagle's show piece is the max performance takeoff and after that there's nothing really that would make you go wow. Just IMO. But in saying that, all F-15 demos I have seen have been solo displays.
  11. It happened in the '91 Gulf War. A pair of 29s were stalking a formation of Strike Eagles. The Eagle pilots could see them on their targeting pods while remaining radar silent. This was all at night, the MiGs had their IFF switched off and one MiG shot down his wingman, the shooter pilot it is believed then sufferend night blindness from the explosion and then flew into the ground. I don't think that it is still practiced to fly around with the trigger pulled.
  12. Ok, ok now. Lets be fair. The YF-22 first flew in 1990/1. It was just 15 years in the making. :P
  13. I bet the pilot was told not to perform any classified stunts. Still waiting for the day the F-22 performs the super cobra ( a cobra 360 as I like to call it ) . Only then will it impress me. ;) Still an impressive fighter, over-priced but impressive. The Flanker is still the no.1 airshow bird IMO. Quickly runs for the anti-flame Superhornet, Raptor and MiG-29OVT suporters battle amor.
  14. For me that was the most impressive part where it just sat on it's tail, when the camera zoomed out it looked like the Raptor was just floating there. Pitty about the weather condition, the display would have looked more impressive if there was some kind of refference points like a lot of broken cloud.
  15. A step in the right direction, some nice moves but the pilot seemed to be holding back a little, not wanting to crash the most expensive fighter ever built I suppose. The Flanker finally has something to challange it at an airshow after 20 years. The MKI can still pull off a near zero speed 360 loop though.
  16. An empty F-15C is 28,000lbs + 13,000lbs full internal fuel, thats around 41,000lbs basic takeoff weight. A pair of 220Es will give just under 47,000lbs thrust while the -100s will give around 48,500lbs.
  17. Thanks for that link. Just loaded up the F100 model and it produces over 33k thrust in AB. Must be based on the new F100-PW-232, if it is the 229 then the 229s in service must be slightly derated to give longer life.
  18. Just looked it up, there was a test F-15D fitted with a pair of uprated -100s. They were uprated to 110% and had a life of around 150 hours. -100s uprated by 110% would give around 26,200lbs each, not quite the 29k I was stating.
  19. That is exactly what annoyed me with the CH fighterstick. I used a MS Sidewinder P Pro stick which has served me well for over six years in various sims. Going to CH took a little getting used to. For one the long stick throw, the CH stick moves about 3 times further than my old stick which only moves about 2 inches each way, I prefare a shorter stick throw and it really effected my flying. The other was the axis issue. It's like the stick used to sets of springs, one for the x axis and one for the y axis. When you go from only one to the two and then back there is a little very slight resistance that flees a little odd to the hand at first but you get used to it. I must admit that I went back to using my old stick a number of times as I found it hard to adjust. It is as accurate a my old stick but it started to generate a little centre play after a few days use, it took my Sidewinder two years to do that. For my hands all the buttons are in easy reach. But for the sheer number of buttons and features on the stick, it's an overall winner across the board. Having said that, I've yet to try a Cougar which I know I would like also because of it small throw but I'm happy with my CH gear.
  20. There is one thing though. Some members, can't remember who off hand said that ED got hold of more info on the F-15 that has not made it's way into the game and at this stage looks like it never will. The A-10 is underpowered in how it's FM is modeled, this has been said and will also never be corrected. Since ED is Russian based it looks as though all future improvements and addons will be Russian based, (not a bad thing IMO) but in their future plans it looks like the F-15 will no longer be apart of that. The A-10 may see another outing. But what we do have now is IMO the best sim of all the fighter types we have along with the best graphics and the AFM and advanced cockpit technology is all brand new in the simulation world. The way I look at it is, ED have set a high standard for any new sim dev to try and match or surpass. ED are the only one currently to be able to do what they do for the fast jet sim community. If it wasn't for them, we'd all still be playing F4 and JF/A-18. But as someone already said, every piece of software ever made has it's bugs. But what I'd like to see is, to fix all the existing stuff before adding new content and then having to fix that aswell. I am currently on the fence about BS, in the end I may well end up getting it because IMO this is the only decent sim around till ED's next project and that will be a very long time away.:pilotfly:
  21. If you want to snap a wing off, the quickest way is a high speed dive followed be a high g pull out. This wing snapped off at around 7G. But this one did not make it home.
  22. Loose a wing on any fighter in LO and there is no way to control it. It just starts to roll and won't stop, I've tried it many times with the same result. It is a sim after all. The IAFDF asked McDonnel Douglas after the accident if it were possible to land a 15 with one wing. MDD got back to them and said that form their computer simulations that it was impossible and a fews days later the IAFDF sent MDD the photos which shocked them and said that they must have had a very good pilot to get it back and land it.
  23. Where did his two external tanks go? Bottom left has a centerline and wing tank and on the right they are both gone. Plus why hang on to them with a damaged fighter and the fact a wing with a tank on one side and no wing at all on the other would make it almost impossible to control even if he had to hang onto them because of the loss of fuel.
