  1. Thx Neil, it is probably a feature more than a quirk with the FDM indeed... I begin to learn better how to handle the Spit the more I take it to a ride :-)
  2. Yep, particularly on taildraggers, due to the even more pronounced difference in AoA of the downgoing prop blades...
  3. Thx Sporg
  4. That could be one reason yes, anyway, I find it extremely sensible, but will try to gather more data. Started a new thread about it Murmur: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=179354
  5. Thx Neil, I am well aware of that, since I fly for real too :-), but what I find strange is that even starting from altitude, it will never recover if you push the stick and then let it return to neutral. The aircraft enters a dive, and actually diverges, with increasing negative pitch.
  6. Noticed that with a trim setting of near neutral, if I let go of the stick, the Spitfire initiates a dive never recovering ?
  7. Same here too, in the 109 and now also on the Spitfire.
  8. Is the Spit pitch unstable ? I noticed that with a trim setting near neutral for pitch, if I push the stick and return it to neutral, the aircraft initiates a dive of which it never recovers, actually increasing the dive angle as it goes down at increasing rates... ?
  9. Regarding the ground crew holding the tail for run-ups, it's even in the checklists on pp. 138 of the Spitfire Mk IX manual: 5.) When testing the motor, ensure the ff: - Completely pull on the stick. - Hold on to the aircraft’s tail with a weight of about 2 people.
  10. What and EXCEPTIONAL writing and really rewarding read. Thx! I actually think sometimes DCS makes things a bit easier than they really are / wer IRL, like the effectiveness of the tailwheel locking in the 109 k-4, which provides probably more steering stability than the real ones do... But indeed, each time I buy and start using a DCS module, compared to other simulators ( I only use flight simulators , and with the exception of the also superb IL.2 BoS! ), I have to lern again :-) But after a couple of days practicing with the Spitfire, I am really beginning to feel in Love with her :-), although I don't like her legs.... :-)
  11. I believe what I experienced was a "flood" of ICMP that made my router enter a "protective" state. The situation was due to a greater than usual # of available servers yesterady. As I logged into MP they all ping my address to get the ping statistics, and that's probably the culprit... I should probably have stayed with Open Beta, but..I'm ok now. Thx!
  12. Yep, might be it... Just installed 1.5 release, and used the Multiplayer without any problems... Unfortunately I lost all of the logs as I uninstalled Open Beta. The router logs are only accessible to the provider :-/ All ok now on release 1.5.5
  13. Yet, I believe it celarly needs to get fine tuned... I don't believe a Spitfire without a rudder would do so wel as mine did yesterady when I just noticed my rudder had benn ripped off when entering the base leg, and changing to an outside vew for some voyeuristic sensations... I landed perfectly, well sort of, but that's because I haven't yet figured out how to dance de rudder... and there was no rudder :-)
  14. Windows 10 at home PC, with Windows Defender only. I deleted DCS Open Beta from my PC, and am now installing the stable release version. The accidents took place only after the latest patch, made available yesterday, was installed. Before that I kept using DCS and the Spitfire at a couple of online servers without any problems other than those inherent to the twitchiness of the Spitifire on taxi, takeoff and landing :-) I will try again with the release version of DCS and report back. My main reasoning was that it had to do with the operator, but tests showed it didn't happen when using the Internet with any other programs, including a couple of other flight simulators ( ELITE PC and IL.2 BoS BoM ). Just when I started "Multiplayer" from the DCS menu, and the servers board started to get filled with the list of available servers the same happened - repeated 3 times to confirm! After it happens the router took "ages" to get able to re-acquire an address, and at the phone with the operator support they couldn't find a reason either...
  15. I found my best option was to use the slider throttle on my TS16000. I also use the HOTAS unit of an old broken X52 for the throttle, prop and other functions... But operating the brakes with the buttons in DCS is not, IMHO, so well implemented as in my other sim where the VVS fighters all use the same method, but it's more natural there even without an analog axis...
  16. Items such as getting the chocks out, or having two guys holding your tail down for run-up ?
  17. Nope, and somehow it broke my Internet connection at home too, whenever I try to start the Multiplayer... The Servers listing starts building, then it stops, and I completely loose Internet at home, including VoIP ! Happens only with DCS World, and I can play my other two flight simulators, or browse teh Internet and everything else, provided I do not try to start DCS in Multiplayer :-/
  18. After yesterday - 2016.12.17 - installing version Ope Beta 1.5.5.60338.212, my Internet connection is lost, including VoIP communications, whenever I start Multiplayer. I have contacted the operator two times and opened tickets with them and am now trying to find what is the possible relation of starting the Multiplayer board in this DCS version and the Internet simply going down and my router not being able to acquire a new DHCP address. This doesn't happen if I play DCS standalone, or browse the Internet or use other simulators with Internet access ( ELITE Flight Simulator, IL.2 Battle of Stalingrad, ... ) I have uninstalled OpenBeta and am now fetching the release 1.5 version, which I hope can get the Spitfire installed ...
  19. updt: 1.5.5.60338.212
  20. Is no problema at all... In one of the missions ( Sochi-Adler defense ), I just noticed I had lost the rudder when I chose na outsider view prior to turning base :-) The rudder section had been ripped by an 109 during the dogfight, and I managed to continue flying, shot down another 109, and RTB without even noticing I didn't have rudder. As I moved my pedals to check it wasn't a graphics glitch, indeed the aircraft didn't yaw, but still I could make the circuit and land uneventfuly ... Strange, to say the least...
  21. For some operations, like engine run up, ground crew holding the tail should be required, or for taking out the chocks, but there are no such options in the "Ground crew" menu ( yet... ).
  22. Damage model reminds me of that of the P-51 regarding prop when we get some hits. Only thing really different is when it loses its tail section :-)
  23. Same here, but also on a Mission opened through the Mission Editor.
  24. It's always the same with each new module I buy, and more than due to any fine tuning done by the Devs Team, I tend to believe that what pays, just as almost everything in our existence, is practice / experience... When I picked the Spitfire, without having first opened the Manual, or even watch Matt's video, I crashed in a row simply trying to takeoff... Then I tried to taxi, gave up on using the slider in my T16000 for brake, and set the brake to both toe brakes in my Rudder ( Saitek Combat ), but soon noticed this was very unrealistic. In IL.2 Battle of Stalingrad/Moscow I have the button 0 of the TS16000 set for brake, which works great with the VVS aircraft. That's what I ended up doing in the Spit... I managed to takeoff and then started training landings. Biggest problem is the very narrow undercarriage area, prone to wing-strikes... Practice will get me there :-)
